SECRET KIDDIES XMAS SWAP - PLEASE READ!!!

Ok, inspired by everyones generosity and an idea I saw I'm suggesting we do a secret kiddies christmas swap.

How it would work is this. If you want to sign up your child(ren) then you list them here. Their ages (don't have to give their names)sexes and their likes and dislikes.

Then you will email me your address. I will then give each person one address and the poster whose child they are swapping presents with. The present will have a value between £1 and £5, I say value cos then you don't have to buy anything new. But it must be in good enough condition to give as a present iykwim.

So then your children would get a surprise gift from a total stranger.

Ok this sounds stupid doesn't it?

Anyone game?

Pie, don't feel like that, I think it's a lovely idea - I also felt touched by everyone's generosity today. There are some really great people on here

It's just late, and there's not so many people around. When you come back tomorrow, I reckon there will be lots of replies.

((((hugs, honey)))

THat sounds like a brilliant Idea pie.

Sign up my DD she is 16 months old and loves books

hoxtonchick · 30/11/2003 23:50

Me too, Pie. 1 ds, 22 months, into fire engines, books & painting.

pie · 01/12/2003 00:19

Ok...cool thats 3 including mine (I think my 7 week old will be a bit too young )

Meant to say that there won't be straight forward swaps with people being paired in two, eveyone will just get one address, that person not necessarily being the one who is given you. I will try to match people with 2 children with others with 2 so there is only one parcel, and so on.

Also would people want their name on the package or would you all like to guess who sent it?

Here is my email so that mumsnet doesn't have to forward loads if this takes off!

pie(at)sabian(dot)net

written like that so spammers won't find it so easily.

I'm up for it. My sons would appreciate a card with a photo and story most of all. Or really, just a story about dogs and/or cats. Or robots that fly. Seriously. My eldest loves stories.

He's almost 6 and my youngest is 2.

Email is pyke(at)clara(dot)co(dot)uk

Excellent idea! Looking forward to it. We're in Switzerland so a card with the above would be great.

Cool idea! Can we join?

DD is 20 months old (in 4 days) and into books, babies and almost anything girly. She is a real chatterbox and is already excitied by the Father Christmas idea.

My Dd is 18mths old loves books and music, is really trying hard to count at the moment, so something that would help her along would be great.

Yeah a few more takers

I'm putting a deadline of next SUNDAY to sign up for this. That way I can sort out the swaps and everyone will have time to do it by Christmas.

Thanks for the offer dsw, I'll rope you in should this all get too much.

What to put in the email. Childrens names, if you want the present to actually have their name on it, and your address. Oh yes your username too, you don't have to include your real name either if you don't want, or if its obvious what your name is from your email address then you can ask me not to pass it on if you want. Is this making sense?

Come there must be more...I need even numbers to make it work, and I think we are up to 11.

Great idea!

I'd join in, but I think the international postage would blow the £5 budget a bit. But I guess I could join in f we can think of very light things to swap!

Hulababy · 01/12/2003 10:08

So do we e-mil you through contact a memebr then with details too? And when do you want us to do that?

pie · 01/12/2003 10:12

My email address is in my post of 12.19am 1st Dec...so you can send direct to me, anytime before Sunday.

SP, JJ is joining in. One of the reasons for the price limit is that hopefully nothing too heavy will be sent, so post you details here, likes/dislikes etc.
