As an offshoot of the Baby Modelling thread here is the new and improved thread for all questions you may have regarding agencies, the industry or just to relate general experiences. The last thread is hereby laid to rest - it was 5 YEARS OLD! Jeez!

If you want to DEBATE or CRITICISE go to the "Child Modelling - Debate" thread.

Yeah just thought with lots of us mums going to urban angels some of us are sure to bump into each other.

Izzy do you mind me asking what u didnt like about BK? Or just generally unhappy?
I like them and dont have a bad word to say but think I was just interested in wether Urban Angels wanted to see my LO and they do so we will see what happens.
Good Luck to everyone who is going xx

Hiya Allie,

Looking forward to story, been v proactive tonight just typed up my friend's now editing it. Am v stressed though, have lots of college work to be getting on with and finding the time at the mo is a nightmare! I'm doing a massage course and there's so much work but not long until the end now! Thank goodness.

I agree with what you are saying, keep an open mind and check out as many agencies as possible that way you have wider scope to pick from. I'm now seriously thinking about Urban Angels because everyone seems really positive about them. x

tinkerbellchelle · 22/01/2006 21:29

Hi Cyan, do you also have an interview with Urban Angels? Maybe another mumsnetters we might bump into

alliep30 · 22/01/2006 21:35

I'm sulking cos I haven't! Just joking. Good luck to those who have..your babies must be gorgeous. Thought you might be painting the town red again Cyan..?? Will do my best with the story..I still have some creative cells left in my head... just about. Don't you ever stop!!! Wish I had the time and energy to try something new for me! Is it baby massage? I guess it's still the graveyard shift at the office for me.. At least I get 5 hours of peace and quiet (with all the doors and windows locked, and the blinds down cos i'm a scaredy cat on my own!)

tinkerbellchelle · 22/01/2006 21:37

Are you working 2nite? Bless

alliep30 · 22/01/2006 21:40

No, thank god. Just weds and thurs and occasional saturdays. At least i'm not stacking shelves..I'm no good at it, been there, got the t shirt (and the broken nails) Just means I can be at home in the day.. Peddling my child to modelling agencies ha ha!

tinkerbellchelle · 22/01/2006 21:42

Bless.
What agencies have you approached... sorry if its already been mentioned, I just get confused with where we all are

alliep30 · 22/01/2006 21:53

Been accepted by Childsplay as they don't mind distance. Tried BizzyKidz, Urban Angels, MOT Junior and Elliott Brown and had a no. Tried Alphabet Kidz, Cheeky Kidz, Norrie Carr and Bruce and Brown this weekend so waiting to hear. I'm just over an hour from London so can't apply to all agencies, but probably will anyway! She just loves having her pics done and showing off!

tinkerbellchelle · 22/01/2006 21:56

elliot brown? Are they the agency in oxford?
We live really close to them
Didnt even realise they took kids on.
Good Luck on hearing from the others x

cyan · 22/01/2006 21:56

Hiya Allie,

No not tonight I wish! No I never stop! I've never known how to relax! I was at uni when I had my ds! I had to write my bloody 22000 word dissertations with a 3 month old baby -madness.
I'm doing a holistic massage course because I thought it would be nice to do something completely different to writing, aslo means I can have a little job on the side. So for those of you who don't live far from Harrow you are always welcome to have a massage! I'm going to do a baby massage course next as it's only a 2 day course, and i'll have the basic principles of massage under my belt already. Thinking about setting up a baby massage class in my area once qualified.
Tink- I heard from Jenny last week. I emailed Urban before Xmas and was told that i'd hear from them in Jan. I was already with Norrie at that point and wasn't sure how I felt about them, and was just interested to see whether Urban was interested in him. Bit like you and BK -that is who you are with?
I have arranged to go to the shoot but I don't know what to do as we are already with NC and I don't know whether to switch or not, not sure whether it's a good idea. I went through this before when deciding between Elisabeth Smith and Norrie, maybe you guys can give some advice x

alliep30 · 22/01/2006 22:01

You have bags more energy than me, although my 5 yr old wears me out the most and he's at school majority of the day! Good luck for your interview tink! I'm off to bed. Nighty night!

yackertyyack · 22/01/2006 22:13

Hi izzy >>> Good luck with all your interviews....I am sure they will all want your DD and that will make you even more confused!! Not had any 'work' yet this year but he is currently in a catalogue, baby mag and in a new sit com in feb so is not doing too bad at the grand old age of 10 months!! Needless to say I am a VERY proud mummy!!!

7777777 · 22/01/2006 22:14

hi yakkertytak, did you have to go many auditions before your little one got the work , well done by the way

yackertyyack · 22/01/2006 22:28

Hi 77777, To date all of the work he has done he has just been booked for - which is so much easier than auditioning!! The one audition we did go for he didn't get! My little man is VERY laid back and is basically just happy to 'sit' and watch what is going on which makes him a photographers dream as he doesn't 'crawl' off!!! YET!!!!
My only piece of advice for you if you are currently choosing an agency would be to apply to all the agencies you like and then wait and see which ones accept you and then make a decision! Try not to just join the first one that accepts you!! Hope that helps rather than sound like a lecture!!!

7777777 · 22/01/2006 22:48

im thinking about it, childsplay and bk have emailed to say they like my ds but they prob say that to everyone. i thought perhaps i could make it a little hobby for us but it sounds like a lot of hassle with audtition etc and the short notice you get so prob not a very good hobby to choose

totallyfloaty35 · 23/01/2006 00:42

Hi Cyan,im a holistic therapist,i specialize in pregnancy massage and aromatherapy, i just wanted to wish you luck with your course and say look after your hands as after a few years of massage lots of therapists develop joint and repetitive strain probs.
My DD's are much older than all you ladies on here(your so lucky,i so want another baby)but when they were babies they did loads of work which they got through an agency called Bubblegum, the owner was lovely and originally she worked for Norrie Carr. The other agency they were with is Truly Scrumptious, they were also very nice.
The advice about waiting for replies from all the agencies you apply to is good,i made the mistake of applying to loads and saying yes to whoever called back first. Its very embarrassing phoning agents later and saying that actually you dont want to join them after all

yackertyyack · 23/01/2006 09:45

morning 7777.....its quite an 'eratic' hobby - but really lovely seeing them in print! Nearly all of the jobs/castings we have had we were called the day before, so yes, short notice.... which is fine for me as I am a sahm but if your working it could be a problem. Must admit the castings are a bit of a bore but are part of the industry. Don't know how old you little one is but pushchairs and the tube don't go brilliantly together....especially if you are in the commuter rush!! But saying that - all the jobs we have done have been very well organised, very professional and I have met some other lovely mums. If you are still not sure you may be best signing up with an agency that does not have any upfront charges.....that way you have nothing to lose!

perfumelady · 23/01/2006 10:10

i'm begining to think that it doesn't really matter which agency you are with. where a lot of jobs are now done via a casting( i was told that by a owner of an agency)all the top agencys are going to be represented anyway(the last casting we did urban angels, bizzykidz, norrie carr and mot had all submitted models) so i guess as long as your with a repitible agency they are all going to be at a lot of the same castings, so i guess the question on everyones lips is which agency gets the most non casting work? that would be great to know, hey?

alliep30 · 23/01/2006 10:39
