As an offshoot of the Baby Modelling thread here is the new and improved thread for all questions you may have regarding agencies, the industry or just to relate general experiences. The last thread is hereby laid to rest - it was 5 YEARS OLD! Jeez!

If you want to DEBATE or CRITICISE go to the "Child Modelling - Debate" thread.

cyan · 24/01/2006 17:05

2manypimms my ds is with Norrie have you had your interview? We had to pay £20 at the time of the assessment and basically they ran through all the pros and ocns of kids modelling. Then went through all the license stuff. We then were given a load of paperwork to go through and sen back the registration dos. Then go for the photoshoot 6 weeks later. xx

alliep30 · 24/01/2006 17:09

I think so. Lisa is calling me in a bit to go thru details. I will probably get a pic done as I haven't had any done of her yet and I have a friend who is a photographer. I really like childsplay but don't want to lay out money unless I really have to.. What r u going to do???

izzyrubi - hi we're with AK and BK been to inspired interview were accepted but have not got back to them yet
Spoke to Lisa today, shes very busy with the website etc
going urban angels on 4th so its got really confusing now, if we are accepted by UA?

I personally dont expect much or anything from BK!?! so only got AK to fall back on if UA dont accept us, then will join inspired models as well.
Hope that makes sense...

cyan · 24/01/2006 17:37

god it's going to be mayhem at the urban angels shoot! our slot's @ 4ish so prob wont bump into any of you as it looks like most of you are going in the morning.

izzy did you decide whether you were going to see norrie? did you apply to bruce and brown too? I was speaking to a friend of mine today and she emailed the photos over a cpl of weeks ago and hasnt heard anything from them. Do they usually take a while to reply? I never sent pics to them so not sure how they work any advice i can pass on?

izzy are Urban ANgels sole rep? Just of interest

2ManyPimms · 24/01/2006 18:02

Cyan - Sorry to be a pest but do they assess your child at the time? Sounds as though they have accepted you if they offer you the interview. Is it worth being with Norrie - the name is big but so are the fees!

Sh11: I just read you are with A K and BK, just received an e-mail from A K saying they require sole representation as I am currently with BK and thought perhaps I could stay with both.

The fee for over 2s at A K is £100 for registration fee which includes photo shoot.

sh11 · 24/01/2006 18:10

maybe that would be for over 2's that are shown on the site? mine is a baby

sh11 · 24/01/2006 18:12

i dont see why any of them require sole rep as its not as if they are going to inundate us with work, the more agencies we are with wouldn't it be beneficial to all if we got work that could be used as 'portfolio'?

cyan · 24/01/2006 18:22

pimms- i think they like to meet the kids as it gives them a fair assessment of whether they will be suitable for modelling. They said to me that even the most photogenic child may not be suitable for modelling as they are more interested in the personality, supposedly! But i question that slightly as they obviously have to like the look of child before they meet them!
I just think the whole point of the assessment is to get an idea of what your child is like. The assessment also doesn't mean that your child will be taken on - that's down to how they are on the day of the photoshoot. When I took ds 6 weeks after assessment to shoot, we had to wait approx an hour as some kids were tired and a cpl started crying, so we were delayed by an hour. I didn't really have a problem as I had some company and it was fun to see ds playing with the other babies. We then waited 2 weeks to hear whether ds had been taken on. He was. With hindsight it can be along process, the initial bits anyway. I know some kids had already had castings before the shoot as their mums had told me they'd emailed snaps of the agency for the website. I did'nt do this as I was in the process of moving house at the time. Is there anything else you'd like to know? Let me know and i'll try and help if i can. How olds your dd/ds? xxx

cyan · 24/01/2006 18:29

Pimms -
Norrie's name is very well known in the industry, she set up the agency in the 60's just after Elisabeth Smith. Yes it is a reputable agency but then there are so many now to choose from. I'll be completely honest when I first thought of applying the only place I tried was Elisabeth Smith as it was up the road from me. I then did a bit of research asked friends and family who mentioned Norrie and Scallywags. After doing some searching on the web I stumbled across some of the other agencies. Then this forum which I read before joining in! I'm now realising that tehre's such a vast amount to pick from that it's so hard to choose! I have questioned Norrie because of the amount of positive feedback on here about UA and some of the others. who do you want your child to go with?

perfumelady · 24/01/2006 18:35

cyan sorry to butt in, urban angels do require sol rep

izzyrubi with regards to them having small numbers on there books and now having loads don't forget they don't take children on all year round so by doing all the shoots over a week it's going to seem like loads but not all that are invited to the shoot are going to be taken on, i know from our shoot not everyone was taken on but lets hope all the mums netter children are, give us all something to talk about (not that we ever struggle!!)

allie, i just gona go on AK books as i wasnt that serious about all this, just sent pics out of interest really. childsplay too expensive with the cd rom at £170!! might go and see cheekykids if they reply as think they only charge £30. hope your chat with lisa went well

alliep30 · 24/01/2006 18:51

hello 7's! Chat was good so AK for me.. I agree, Childsplay is a little too expensive if you're not guaranteed the work, but will bear them in mind for the future! Going to go with AK! Hurray!!!!! I am now a fully fledged obsessive pushy mum!

7777777 · 24/01/2006 18:58

yea we can be slagged off when the "hijackers" come on here!

cyan · 24/01/2006 19:04

thanks perfumelady wasn't sure. going to go to the shoot and if we get offered a contract then will have to choose whether to stay with norrie or go for angels. ive just heard so many good things about ua so not sure what to do but no use worrying until after the 4th.

777777 only a matter of time before thread gets hijacked!

perfumelady · 24/01/2006 19:13

best thing to do if we get high jacked is just carry on talking like normal and just totally ignore them. what do you think?

cyan have you had no luck with norrie?

we got a job call within a week of getting contract with urban angels.

7777777 · 24/01/2006 19:19

yea ignore, ignore, ignore

cyan · 24/01/2006 19:23

Hi perfumelady had casting for calpol and elc which he didn't get and was supposed to go forward for huggies as apparently they are producing new adverts for most of their products, but we missed the one for his size and the only other one was for newborn-3 months- he was 7 months by then! He's done stuff which I've been asked to do through things I've worked on. Anyone that's interested 3276.e-printphoto.co.uk/watford/index.cfm?z=z&CFID=3476870&CFTOKEN=80178069
click on this hopefully should bring some pics of him up!
It's gone quiet over Xmas but heard that can be normal at this time of the year.
