What's the next "make MN unwelcoming" game going to be?

We've had "out the troll" when a newbie posts.

We've had "PARP at the thread" when an oft-posted topic is posted again.

Anyone got any others?

Here, here HM. Mn has changed loads and I know lots of people are unhappy with this stuff.

QueenOfQuotes · 24/09/2005 13:07

QueenOfQuotes · 24/09/2005 13:11

"take the p*ss out of people who post innane chatter on one thread only"

Blossomhill · 24/09/2005 13:27

Do you know there is one mn name that sticks out as ring leader to all of this.

blossomhill, I dont think there is just one person.

If youre talking about cod, I think her original joke about hooters has backfired a bit. She originally meant threads where you are tempted to get mad and post something stupid. I think any of us who have got involved in breastfeeding/male nanny/leaving your child alone type of threads know what that means.

generally, anyone who posts contributes to making mumsnet more or less welcoming.

BunnyBoo · 24/09/2005 13:44

I Just don't understand why people can not just come on here and chat/discuss things, why is there certain people on here who actually believe they own Mn?? No one is more inportant than anyone else on here so why think they are so such much higher??
In my honest opinion i just think the people that are like this must have a very sad lonely life or even have no life that they have to sit at there pc and watch and interfere as if they are the police ffs get over yourselves.

Sorry i never have a rant either but it is just getting right on my nerves

"No one is more inportant than anyone else on here"

True but some members seem to be held in higher 'esteem' than others, and if they don't post/announce they're leaving indefinitely, or just for a while get a much larger collection of "oh don't leave your advice is invaluable" threads for them

So who do you think are the people who think they 'own' it then??? I'm genuinely intrigued, because all I see is people "being themselves" horror!

WigWamBam · 24/09/2005 13:51

My jaw dropped when a new poster started a thread to introduce herself, and the first post on it was "parp". Not really the most pleasant introduction to MN.

BunnyBoo · 24/09/2005 13:51

oops i totally agree with you.

I will not get into the name mentioning as i really do think it's just playground stuff, but we all have our own opinion and to be honest i just wish i had not even written what i did as i new someone would have to come jump me but hey thats mn these days

SherlockLGJ · 24/09/2005 13:52

I would like to say tell me you are joking, but you are not are you ?

Blossomhill · 24/09/2005 13:53

The thing I find is that people are probably far more upfront on here and if you met them in rl wouldn't say half the things they do.

Have to say though have met a few mn in rl and they were all lovely

Blossomhill · 24/09/2005 13:53

lgj - joking about what?

paolosgirl · 24/09/2005 13:54

QoQ - if you posted names here, the supporters would arrive, you'd be lambasted for daring to speak out of turn and it would all get very mean. I've seen it happen so many times that it's just not worth it

SherlockLGJ · 24/09/2005 13:55

Sorry that was for WWB I just type slowly.

Jimjams · 24/09/2005 13:56

The hooter thing is being misunderstood. It's threads that you know you shouldn't post on as you'll let rip- there's nothing wrong with the thread itself. So for me vaccinations, and disabled parking.

BunnyBoo · 24/09/2005 13:57

To be honest i have not even read any threads about this hooter thing, i don't even know what its all about, Maybe i should go have a little read or errr maybe not ?

QueenOfQuotes · 24/09/2005 13:58

I just see people as I see people in rl.

You've got several 'groups'

Those that barge in without introduction - and to the 'untrained' eye would like like they've been here/known people here forever

Those that come in and introduce themselves, almost in a "can I join you" type way.

Then once they've 'arrived'.....we have

Those that are quite happy to open their big gobs and say what they think, without worrying what other people think.

Those that sit quietly at the side, and only "speak" occasionaly

Those that speak out, loud and frequently, but do their utmost to "keep the peace"

Those that don't speak very often, but when they do - boy do you know it
