Since we have lost our way back to the thread having it posted somehwere other then chat it may hang around longer. So this time our breadcrumbs lead back to Other Subjects, sounds fascinating doesn't it?!

Anyway, NWG, KAQ, TW, and others, all welcome, to loiter and banter, I hope my link works cause they seldom have in the past.

Happy Christmas ALL ...

... though ThumbWitch is possibly already opening her presents (depends on whether it was a "stay up for midnight mass night", but even if they only open their presents in their morning, they will be hours ahead of us!

KickArseQueen · 25/12/2010 00:32

If anyone is up early with youngsters, it may be worth visiting www.noradsanta.org which is the North American Radar monitoring system... for years they have been "tracking Santa" since their phone number was released (by mistake?) and now you can watch video clips and see Santa's progress...

Just going through California and assuming he visits Hawaii and Alaska, there are about 2.5 hours remaining for him to finish his deliveries!

:)

seashore · 25/12/2010 23:16

Pity I didn't see that earlier NWG! we just had RTE's Santa coverage, dd wasn't impressed that this Santa was heading off with just a single raindeer! I explained this was his favourite red nosed one, which he keeps up at his house and they were on their way to collect the others down the hillside.

They did have scientific input from Trinity College Dublin and Met Eireann though and they came to the conclusion that to complete his global journey in a single night Santa avails of parallel dimensions! HO! HO! HO!Makes sense Xmas Smile

Feel sure it had been mentioned by someone the other day under the 'christmas' section about websites to visit, and I think I posted about it either early morning on Christmas Eve (as the site has updates from around noon UK timeon 24th), or I posted on the 23rd, but perhaps it was in geeky stuff...

Anyway, something to consider for next year... if DD is still of an age...

seashore · 27/12/2010 14:01

Thanks NWG, next year DD will still be a big Santa fan, she's really only just started! Smile we have ds too but he's too young yet, just edging out og being a baby.

OK Seashore. Hope you and KAQ, and everyone, had a good Christmas. Will have to chase up ABF and TW as they have both been silent for a bit.

I had expected nothing special (living with just the cat), but different neighbours provided me with some cans of cider, a turkey dinner and lovely pudding, a box of Belgian chocolates, a separate box of assorted chocolate biscuits and some lovely coconut cakes, plus (a teeny bit odd), 4 cartons of Ambrosia custard (which will go down well with some Apple Strudels I had already bought, along with pizza, for my intended Christmas lunch).

KickArseQueen · 27/12/2010 21:15

That was really nice of them NWG. Goes to show that you must be a very nice person, or they wouldn't have bothered, their kindness is a reflection of your own I'm betting.

We've had a good Christmas, Christmas day went pretty much to plan, Boxing day was quite chilled with lots of playing with toys, and today was spending the kids Christmas money in the sales.

I have a techy question tho. Don't know if you know the answer, but google is not being my friend. I've bought dd1 an MP3/4 Player its a philips gogear vibe and I'm having trouble loading video onto it, I'm using songbird via Itunes as it says to, or downloading from bbciplayer. I've managed to upload a couple of short clips, but I just can't get the longer stuff to go on ( and its not a size of memory problem, it said something about codec?

Anyway if you can't help no worries,

Hope everyone has a fab new year :O)

KAQ xx

NetworkGuy · 28/12/2010 06:21

Will see what I can find out.

Someone on geeky_stuff had a (similar) problem playing longer video clips but this minute cannot spot the thread to check what player it was.

Anyway, I'm off to bed for now...

iiiiiiiiiiiiiuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

^ message from no 4!

Thanks NWG, I've also messaged Philips about it, I've come across a lot of threads online from people griping about putting videos on them, there must be a solution! ( being very hopful as I've just ordered another one for dp, possible mistake!Blush)

KickArseQueen · 29/12/2010 01:19

Oh nightmare - It looks like it only supports mp4, not wmv or anything else!

seashore · 29/12/2010 18:52

NWG your neighbours sound great, that was a tasty feast, I've had a strange craving for Ambrosia Ceamed Rice lately (since you mentioned Ambrosia Custard) I think it was the extreme cold.

Being snowed in for so long, Christmas day was a nice change, watched The Snowman with DD, last yr she was too young for it but this yr she watched it all through. Next day we spent 3 hrs building her new dolls house which we should have had done already really but watching the trials of self assembly is a good lesson in co-operation!

A little black cat has decided she's living here. We already have a house cat and with my hay fever 2 cats would be too much but we're feeding her to get her past this cold spell. In the new yr we'll take her to the vet, I hope we can find her a good home she's a lovely friendly cat which I am convinced somebody just dumped here. How can people do that? just drop a kitten off on the road.

Happy New Year everybody Smile

KickArseQueen · 06/01/2011 22:11

That sounds like a fantastic new hobby, We're down to the last bowl of xmas chocs :( Once their gone its lard shedding time....

thumbwitch · 06/01/2011 22:39

Wotcher! Am also here now, thanks KAQ for the link! Had lsot you ages ago, you all fell off the bottom of my Threads I'm On and I hadn't put a watch on you. Will now, though!

Glad to hear that there weren't any obvious traumas over Christmas - we had a good one too, although we weren't up and about when NWG suggested. I was up late wrapping pressies the night before, and we didn't really start the day until after 8am (DS is not an early riser and being only just 3, hasn't got the hang of the whole "there'll be presents in the morning" thing yet. Next year, probably.

Luckily it wasn't too hot so DH didn't actually melt while cooking the roast goose for lunch, but he did require a fan on him during lunch!Grin It was a massive meal - with my homemade Christmas pud and cream after - so big that when we went over to relatives in the evening, we couldn't eat more than just snacks. They thought they were feeding us a whole meal and were a touch put out that they had all this stuff - so DH, MIL and DS all went over there for lunch on Boxing Day, while I stayed at home and had a blissful 5h by myself - glorious! Turkey sandwiches and a glass of fizz for lunch - mmmmmm.

KickArseQueen · 06/01/2011 22:58

Helloo! Wow that sounds like a fab xmas day and boxing day!!! 5 hrs to chill??? Thats what I want for xmas next year! Grin

thumbwitch · 06/01/2011 23:01

Best Christmas present I could have had, for sure! See if you can manage it, it makes everything else worth it Grin
