Since we have lost our way back to the thread having it posted somehwere other then chat it may hang around longer. So this time our breadcrumbs lead back to Other Subjects, sounds fascinating doesn't it?!

Anyway, NWG, KAQ, TW, and others, all welcome, to loiter and banter, I hope my link works cause they seldom have in the past.

NWG - I love fireworks too. It was my great delight to help light the things in my parents back garden; and we used to have parties with family and friends. Of course, most people would bring those family boxes of teeny fireworks - I used to delight in setting them up so that they would set each other off - speed it up! Four was usually the max that could be done effectively - more than that and one would usually not go off, causing anxiety and hesitation and a general break in the proceedings.

I loved bonfire night - the jacket potatoes, my best mate's mum's coleslaw, sausages wrapped in bacon, chocolate crispies - wrapping up in woollens to stave off the cold etc. The whole thing was just great!

NetworkGuy · 09/11/2010 11:49

You will have to have Autumn visits to the UK in future to allow you to include Bonfire Night!

seashore · 09/11/2010 18:00

Well done KAQ!! Grin yep you killed the last thread, I couldn't find my way back to it either, glad you found your way here Smile

That's NWG and KAQ now that have killed one of these threads, soon ... it'll be S.

I love fireworks too, at the beginning of the whole celtic tiger thing they did an amazing display along the Liffey, it really was something, and I always liked going for halloween evening walks and watching them going off everywhere.

Welcome FairyArmadillo, the more threadkillers the merrier Smile

NG - I know, that crossed my mind as well - but do we really want to waste our precious England time coming in November just for the joy of one night? Possibly not...
When someone invents the transporter machine from Star Trek and I can get back to the UK in the twinkling of an eye, life will be soooo much easier...
Grin

seashore - you might get lucky this time around, who knows!

NetworkGuy · 10/11/2010 10:30

Point taken, TW, there is so much rotten weather that even that one night (and let's face it, different shows are spread over two weekends if it is in the middle) that you are best coming here when we have a reasonable chance of warm weather and you can visit friends and enjoy the UK at it's best!

Shame about the old thread... still, it certainly had a more select bunch posting so didn't hit the thousand mark the way some threadkiller threads achieve in a week or so...

thumbwitch · 10/11/2010 11:27

naughty naughty, NG - am on both threads, I'll have you know and we are very select! Well, ok, we're not - we take anyone, and it can move a touch fast over there, especially if you miss a couple of days - but it's still fun.

Why can't anyone get on and invent a transporter machine?? S'not fair!! [sulks]

NetworkGuy · 10/11/2010 11:32

Oh, I lose track of the other threads, but knew you got your broomstick out and dabbled on both :)

NetworkGuy · 10/11/2010 11:50

TW - from another thread - do you have any friends watching UK shows like QI or Mock the Week ?

Just curious - sorry, it might be better for any MN users in Oz if you are not interested in those and have a circle of mostly Australians in your neighbourhood (I got the impression there are few Brits where you are, but I could so easily be wrong!)

thumbwitch · 10/11/2010 12:28

I sometimes watch QI when it's on but not always - I don't think Mock the Week has made it out here, sadly. I have looked at your thread and it has some useful and interesting info - but as I said there, I am too tight and really not that bothered to be able to see stuff to need to do the UK tv downloads! So much of it is shown over here anyway and if we had Foxtel then there is a whole channel devoted to UKTV.

I don't know many other actual Brits here - except other MNers! - but you may have gleaned that info because nearly all the Aussies I am friendly with have strong UK links. But not strong enough to be downloading Mock the Week, I fear! Grin

seashore · 10/11/2010 14:37

TW you need to be able to teleport (think that's how you spell it) every week in a Guardian Q and A they ask - what would be your super power? most say to be able to fly, I think their not considering the weather, you'd arrive looking a mess, but to be able to teleport, now that would be super Grin be very handy for me cause I have so many friends in Dublin and a few close friends scattered throughout some European countries ... if only ...

I like the pace of this thread cause you can pop back to it anytime, hope it doesn't start to speed Shock

OP posts:
NetworkGuy · 10/11/2010 21:32

For myself, I don't speed (well, don't drive, so even if I have been over the speed limit to 112 mph, it wasn't me, just a friend - she loves taking risks!)

thumbwitch · 11/11/2010 08:14

teleport, that was indeed the word I needed! Haven't been able to remember it.Blush
Thanks seashore!

NetworkGuy · 14/11/2010 10:59
