Since we have lost our way back to the thread having it posted somehwere other then chat it may hang around longer. So this time our breadcrumbs lead back to Other Subjects, sounds fascinating doesn't it?!

Anyway, NWG, KAQ, TW, and others, all welcome, to loiter and banter, I hope my link works cause they seldom have in the past.

Hurrah!! link works!! Smile

thumbwheel · 02/11/2010 15:21

it sure does! Wotcher, hope you all find your way back here! seashore, have you done PMing yet? You need to know what NWG and KAQ's actual current names are to do it successfully, I believe (so any seasonal variations have to be adhered to) and then you can send them this link. :)

seashore · 02/11/2010 15:25

Hope you all find your way back! Have yet to track down KAQ yet and give her a link but happily tracked you guys down already Smile

NetworkGuy · 03/11/2010 15:51

Hi again. Think I last looked at the old one when TW was in UK, and various other things filled my time for a bit.

thumbwheel · 03/11/2010 22:38

Good grief, that was weeks ago, NG! You haven't been working, have you??

I hate when RL gets in the way of MNing...

Grin and joking, btw.
MrsShrekTheThird · 03/11/2010 22:45

ello thumb! Can I join in - I appear to have killed six threads in the last half hour
Good even by my standards Blush

thumbwheel · 04/11/2010 01:22

whoops! Course you can - but I bet you've gone to bed now. We've been at playgroup, hence late return.

DS is having ishoos again - spends the first half of playgroup clinging round my knees, then the next quarter draggin me round with him by the finger, then finally gets into it in the last quarter and doesn't want to go home! Very frustrating.

seashore · 04/11/2010 16:42

Oh hi folks, glad your back and welcome MrsShrekTheThird - great name!

TW, like the name change Smile our dd has the ishoos too and just started playschool which she loves luckily, 4th birthday party this Sat to get ready for, just collected a big fancy cake for it, there will be a bouncy castle and all!!

Yes, shame RL gets in the way sometimes. Well, lots of bangs been going on outside, but the cat is indoors (she doesn't seem that bothered, to be honest) and she has had a nice meal of tuna so she was curling up when I popped back upstairs an hour or so ago.

Right, must dash, since it is the weekend and I need to move a load of domains from one web server to another while the business people are not likely to spot their website has disappeared for a few hours...

NWG a few years ago over Halloween in the city it was like a world war was going on with fireworks, it had really got out of hand, our poor cat hated it, but finally a bit of a clamp down happened. I think cause there were some bad accidents on motorways where kids were letting fireworks off on the bridges above Sad

thumbwitch · 07/11/2010 14:41

Actually, I rather miss the fireworks now - we can't have them. :(
Australia (apart from ACT, aka Canberra) does not allow the retail sale of fireworks to the general public. You can only buy them for organised public events if you are the organiser and presumably have a licence. And of course they don't do Guy Fawkes night here.

Firework displays do happen, at NY and the like - but not everywhere. Mind you, when you see things like what seashore was saying, you can see why the general public were banned from getting their mitts on them, can't you! Angry at stupid yoof.

FairyArmadillo · 08/11/2010 22:55

I killed a huge thread in Mumsnet Classics. The wedding one (I used to be seaturtle).

KickArseQueen · 08/11/2010 23:14

Then you've found the right place :) welome faiyarmadillo Grin

thumbwitch · 09/11/2010 01:58

welcome fairyseaarmadilloturtle! Grin

KAQ - we are now 11 hours ahead of you, because our clocks go forward in October, as yours go back (well actually 3 weeks earlier - the Oz govt has decreed that Daylight Savings start on the 1st Sunday in October)
So, it's currently 1pm here - that would be 2am for you. :)

NetworkGuy · 09/11/2010 03:08

Gues you have finished lunch then. Shame about the firework restrictions (can see the logic, but it would have stopped me years ago, if it had been in place). Back in 1990 it was our Mum's 70th birthday. I had moved to N Wales and she was still at that point living in Sussex.

We all (Mum + first son from first marriage + 3 sis + me) had a great meal in Staffordshire (where my middle sis lives) and beforehand, I had bought around 80 pounds of display fireworks - the sticks on the rockets were 4' long, there were mortar bombs with 18" fuses (had to partially bury the tube [around 2" diameter]) and it was a good job they had no neighbours behind my sister's home, just a tennis court.

Had a great evening, I just love fireworks! Mum's birthday was the 3rd so it was very easy to add fireworks to end the night! (and what the heck, you cannot take the money with you, I enjoyed spending it)
