Tea Room 17 - The Tropical Beach Hut

1000 replies

amberlight · 23/07/2010 14:41

Welcome to the 17th version of the Tea Room. We find ourselves on a tropical beach, with the tea room now in a beach hut on stilts, the waves lapping on the golden sands beneath. Palm trees surround us. Our virtual gardener/beach surfing dude/handyman, Mellors, is here to tend to your every need. He looks like the person of your dreams (male, female or otherwise ). There are of course holidaying Bishops and other leaders of faith, the Camels, the Bison, various guinea pigs, the tea room horses, a life-size cut out of George Clooney, the NMBs (please don't ask me to explain how Mohawk Babies joined us, and a wide variety of other virtual followers. We chat, we relax, we share how life is. All in need of friendship are most welcome. The kettle is on...and the distressed chintz sofa has of course made the journey over. Enjoy.

AandO - Good to hear that all is well!

Scout - When no-one is looking I have breakfast at dinner time. I love breakfast and think once in a while it is ok to have it for dinner usually in the bath singing Amy Winehouse songs but if dh was to be looking I would defo go the whole good foods and good table manners choice!

CMOT- You are my favourite stalker!!! You are right 'tis I you found on fb. Wanna be frwwwwendz???

I wondered if it is possible to make a tearoom fb group but I don't know how to!?!

Scout19075 · 26/07/2010 22:16

Actually, we regularly have breakfast for dinner. Eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes. Yummy!

And yes, very easy to set up a Tea Room FB Group.

CMOTdibbler · 26/07/2010 22:35

I have been known to have pudding for breakfast . In fact, I have a nice carton of vanilla custard in the fridge waiting for me

MMM - you are lovely as you are. And getting off ADs is always tough - don't be hard on yourself, and remember you can take as tiny a fraction of a table as you like

Tea, your dog and Milk are so beautiful!

Glad you are having a lovely time A&O

Am in the process of organising a few days away at Diggerland in Devon with camping. Think this may be as much for DH as for DS tbh

teafortwo · 26/07/2010 23:00

Awwww - thanks. I think cmottiddler is a complete lovebug too and a few of your friends seem very familiar!!!

I have NEVER put any photos on fb but my Mum loves taking pics and putting them on the internet so there are many many (cringes) pics of Eccles, me, Milk and my Dad on my fb page because she tags us. There seems to be a new one of me picking my nose - eeeerrrrmmm thanks Mum... grrrr!!!!

How do we set it up then Scout?

Scout19075 · 26/07/2010 23:12

Would you like me to do it, tea? Might be easier than me trying to explain.

I have pics on my FB, but I never tag and have very tight controls on mine. For me, it's one of the easiest ways for my family & friends back home to see BabyScout and watch him grow.

meeskamooskamickeyMOUSE · 26/07/2010 23:24

If anyone wants to be fwwwwwenzzz I'm game

Thank you for the lovely flowers tea (((HUG)))

thumbwitch · 26/07/2010 23:27

ooh if you do a Tearoom FB page, I can join too!

miniThumb is in the phase of wanting pudding all day every day, for breakfast, lunch and dinner! He doesn't get it of course but doesn't stop him asking!

UniS · 26/07/2010 23:32

ohhhh, custard for breakfast. Unis drools slightly at the remembrance of things past. Rice pudding for breakfast... cold spaghetti with condensed milk...
Glad you got home safely MT.
Any of you ladies own CD copies of "mancini Marches " or " the best of Anne Shelton" ? its long shot, but hey, you might.

WHos for teh next cocktail then? what about a jug of " chilled on the beach" , umbrellas and cherry on a stick optional. ice cubes compulsory. What you do with them, optional.

thumbwitch · 27/07/2010 00:21

ice cubes for me are missiles to be lobbed at what/whoever - I don't like trying to drink round them! Cherry, otoh, lovely; and umbrellas are such fun to play with!

Cold ambrosia rice pudding.. mmmmmmmmm.

I shall do the TeaRoom FB page today, when BabyScout naps. I'll let you know when it's up and running.

amberlight · 27/07/2010 08:11

FB page? Excellent!!

*I think that's what it said on the brochure, anyway. I brought some, just in case.

Tis up and running. I have it set with tight controls so that only members can see the board, etc. That way if people want to post pics they are private/secure. Search under Mumsnet Tea Room and request permission and I'll grant it. (Might want to just let me know your initials so we keep randoms out. )

thumbwitch · 27/07/2010 09:11

OK, have asked to join - AWB
Am very excited! [sad git emoticon]

We need a good tearoom logo picture though - any ideas?

Scout19075 · 27/07/2010 09:15

MMMM -- I'll be fwwwwwenzzz as you so elequently put it. Sounds like my girlies.

CMOT -- I think we pass Diggerland on the way to/from our Devon holiday. HubbyScout always has a look of longing as we go by. Think it's something I'll have to sort out in a few years, too, when BabyScout's a bit bigger. Let me know how it is!

I am American, we like our drinks cold, so yes please to ice! I really don't get how people drink their cokes, etc., room temperature here. Makes me burp in a most un-ladylike fashion!!

Gosh darn I'm hungry this morning....

Scout19075 · 27/07/2010 09:16

thumb and CMOT are both members. Wahoo! I feel so popular. [sad, sad emoticon]

Wasn't sure about logo/picture, so left it. Someone tell me what they want and I shall do it!

thumbwitch · 27/07/2010 09:29

Wah! I posted a suggestion, I know I did!

here it is - always makes me smile but it might not be everyone's idea of what our tearoom logo should be

thumbwitch · 27/07/2010 09:33

Scout - can you open up the events so the rest of us can post ideas for them or does it have to be just you?

And how do I keep it so I can access it easily?

Scout19075 · 27/07/2010 09:37

thumb -- Let me see what I can do regarding logo and opening events.

I have mine on the side of my home page, under groups. I also have a few other groups there I utilize regularly (including the SS one I opened for my big girlies).

Scout19075 · 27/07/2010 09:40

I think I would have to make you an admin, thumb, and anyone else who wanted to post events/discussions. For now everyone can post pictures.

thumbwitch · 27/07/2010 09:44

ok - not too worried, I just thought if I posted my dates in the UK then we could work out a meetup date - but that could be done in a chat thread and then maybe if we get a date, you can stick it in the Events tab.

How did you get it to the side of your home page? What do you click to do it? [fick]

thumbwitch · 27/07/2010 09:46

S'ok I found it. [double fick emoticon]

Scout19075 · 27/07/2010 09:49

LOL at thumb. 'Tis okay. And with the frequency in which the FB people change FB, it's amazing anyone can find anything at all!

thumbwitch · 27/07/2010 10:39

had another idea - chintz sofas?

Or perhaps we should just go with the NMBs!

Actually, I vote for the NMBs - what does anyone else think?

amberlight · 27/07/2010 10:48

Aha - found it! I'd be AM on there. Just requested permission to come aboard.
