Tea Room 17 - The Tropical Beach Hut

amberlight · 23/07/2010 14:41

Welcome to the 17th version of the Tea Room. We find ourselves on a tropical beach, with the tea room now in a beach hut on stilts, the waves lapping on the golden sands beneath. Palm trees surround us. Our virtual gardener/beach surfing dude/handyman, Mellors, is here to tend to your every need. He looks like the person of your dreams (male, female or otherwise ). There are of course holidaying Bishops and other leaders of faith, the Camels, the Bison, various guinea pigs, the tea room horses, a life-size cut out of George Clooney, the NMBs (please don't ask me to explain how Mohawk Babies joined us, and a wide variety of other virtual followers. We chat, we relax, we share how life is. All in need of friendship are most welcome. The kettle is on...and the distressed chintz sofa has of course made the journey over. Enjoy.

I know nothing about the RHCP. Is this a serious omission? Will it change my life?

And if we're having Chuck, we ought to have this home movie of

Goodnight all!

Don't tell me I'm too late for the party! I love a good wedding. Time was we had one most weekends. Best year was 15 in one year, with stag/ hen dos as well we barely had a moment all year Grin

sorry, I have been busy and trying to limit time here, can't believe anyone would carp about us, we are so very very nice and very welcoming in our own weird way. I have been purposefully ignored on several other "chatty" threads - which our little tea room has never done

Sorry, Thumb, I don't do FB, can't get it on computer and don't need another distraction - am I terminally missing out Confused

Well, this benefit gang is going to pay, if you're a pub man or a club man .....

I need to have a proud Scout moment and then should hit the bed myself.

I realized that I have (unintentionally) weaned BabyScout from bottles. I wanted him to be BF but then had to wean to FF to start treatments. I didn't want him on bottles, but when I started weaning he wasn't confident enough with spouty-cups, so went to bottles because he knew how to use them from having to take his medicine (Infant Gaviscon). As soon as he was confident with cups I made sure to give him his daytime milks in cups -- sounds cliche, but one of BabyScout's friends (who is older than him) refuses to drink milk from a spouty cup and refuses to hold his own milk bottle, and I refused that to be BabyScout. He had more bottles than normal at camp and on holiday because it was just easier (pre-sterilized disposable bottles were my friend at camp). But I have realized that it's been over a week and I haven't washed a bottle, which means he's been having all of his milks, even bedtime and 5 a.m., in a cup. YAY!!!!

AND, one more excited Scout moment -- BabyScout slept from about 7:15 Friday night until almost 7 a.m. Saturday morning. YAY!!! All week, with the exception of one night, he's slept until about 5-5:30, got up, had milk, and gone back to bed. But last night was all the way through! Dare I hope it's two night's in a row?!?!?

amberlight · 19/09/2010 08:21

Yippee re progress of Scoutlets!!

Scout19075 · 19/09/2010 09:44

Enjoy your day, amber! Thanks for the tea!! (Hopefully it's milk-free with extra sugar?)

BabyScout got up around 4:45 but then slept until about 7:30, so much more socialable hours than his 5:45 wide awake he had taken to doing for a while.

thumbwitch · 19/09/2010 11:25

Oooooooooooo!! I've been reading That Thread that T42 was talking about - I get nobbled twice, seeing as how I'm on the threadkillers' thread too BlushGrinAngry - all in one post! (Yes, Bathsheba, it is you, in case you're checking). Anyway, the point is I found out how to highlight the OP's posts in a thread so they're easier to find - and it works!! Amber's posts all come up shaded in grey now. :)

miniThumb has just gone to sleep a bit early - hoping he stays asleep while I change him for the night. Poor little fella - he must be ever so tired. Fingers crossed he stays asleep until a sociable hour tomorrow though!

AandO · 19/09/2010 12:52

Wow how do you do that thumb?

thumbwitch · 19/09/2010 13:32

you go to Customise, then scroll down the page until it says something about highlighting the OPs posts throughout the thread, change that to Yes and Save. It's very cool!

amberlight · 19/09/2010 17:37

60-7!!!!!! Through to the next round of the nationals!!! Well done that ds and his team!!!!!

Scout19075 · 19/09/2010 21:04

YAY to amber's DS!

amberlight · 19/09/2010 21:44

Oh b*m, we are indeed nearly full - heck - ideas quickly? Not been following suggestions (eek)

OP posts:
ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 19/09/2010 21:58

I think Serpent suggested a cricket pavilion, which sounded very good to me. The bishops should double up as umpires and Mellors could pose fetchingly keep the wicket in good order with his ride-on mower.

Sunday Bolly, anyone?

amberlight · 19/09/2010 22:01

Go on then...just a thimbleful for me

OP posts:
ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 19/09/2010 22:24

I have just packed the crystal champagne flutes, ready for our departure. I can only find the galvanised bucket which Donki left behind.

So, Amber, here's a bucket of champagne. We'll have to wash and polish it when you're inebriated finished, as I hope Donki will come back to reclaim it.

Cin cin!

thumbwitch · 19/09/2010 22:53

Oh are we on the move again? Jolly d, I rather like the sound of the cricket pavilion. A few nice upholstered leather armchairs, with deep comfy seats, in the members' club room sounds rather good, with a fully stocked bar as well, of course.

Amber - well done to the fine lad and his team - that's jolly good!

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 19/09/2010 23:01

It's just occurred to me that if we have a cricket pitch, we might also have room for rugby and lacrosse pitches, in which case we could host the FineLad's next match and Oxeye can be Captain of Lax.

Goodnight everyone!

oxeye · 20/09/2010 01:14

oh, yes, an autumn "pitch fest"

but I think I might also enjoy lying back on a deckchair and eating a BIG tea (which is my impression of cricket!

I can see Mellors over there now, on his Big Roller Grin

And we could have a Wimbledon bit and the NMBs could be ball boys and run across with the cover if it rains Grin

Hmm, too enthusiastic I fear

JBsmama · 20/09/2010 01:56

I see I've missed quite a bit while out on safari along the Fraser River with my parents... someone leave a trail of breadcrumbs, please...

JBsmama · 20/09/2010 01:59

JBM sees everyone has left already, so looks around to see if anything has been forgotten.
