Tea Room 17 - The Tropical Beach Hut

Welcome to the 17th version of the Tea Room. We find ourselves on a tropical beach, with the tea room now in a beach hut on stilts, the waves lapping on the golden sands beneath. Palm trees surround us. Our virtual gardener/beach surfing dude/handyman, Mellors, is here to tend to your every need. He looks like the person of your dreams (male, female or otherwise ). There are of course holidaying Bishops and other leaders of faith, the Camels, the Bison, various guinea pigs, the tea room horses, a life-size cut out of George Clooney, the NMBs (please don't ask me to explain how Mohawk Babies joined us, and a wide variety of other virtual followers. We chat, we relax, we share how life is. All in need of friendship are most welcome. The kettle is on...and the distressed chintz sofa has of course made the journey over. Enjoy.

OH YES!!! The French version is MUCH better because there is a special dance half way through!!! You have to say "AH HAAAA" very loudly and jump in the right direction and do stuff with your arms.

On account of never automatically knowing my left from my right I do find it quite tricky but it is very fun all the same!

My humble offerings are...

This was played at both weddings I went to lately...

Confused... Grin

teafortwo · 18/09/2010 21:26

Lots of French people think all the stars that speak in English are American. Quite funny - even the ones we think are 'Soooo British'!

I accidently saw this lady in concert when I was in Brittany. She is fun - like a little cartoon! So I think she should join the wedding party!!!

On account of the disco smoke I can't see what people are wearing for our wedding disco links please!!!!Grin

teafortwo · 18/09/2010 21:38

Sorry - this link is a better video...

Scout19075 · 18/09/2010 21:44

Just never really thought about it, to be honest.

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 18/09/2010 21:53

OK. Is everybody intoxicated enthusiastic enough for a little ?

Tea - After some searching, I found that thread. I thought we got off lightly (if it was aimed at us) - just some non-specific grumbling about tea rooms and "cliques". Which, really, I don't get as the door to the tea room is always open. And I think we give new arrivals a warm welcome, don't we?

Scout19075 · 18/09/2010 22:03

Just realized I missed the season finale of Glee -- d'oh!

Scout19075 · 18/09/2010 22:04

If it makes you feel better, I felt welcomed when I joined.

AandO · 18/09/2010 22:05

I just found us on that thread too. We are always very friendly, introducing ourselves and the rest. 'Tis strange that very few stay.

Small, did you see my thing about internet safety? It's probably on the previous page. Is this the case or am I deluding myself and it's all very dangerous?

AandO · 18/09/2010 22:10

Dh has been away at work for three days, and won't be back for another three Sad

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 18/09/2010 22:15

Scout - We've never really watched Glee, but a FB friend linked to that a while ago and I love it.

AandO - I think I might have missed it. I'm probably the worst person to ask about internet safety as (for reasons to do with work) I'm paranoid. I was reading some other thread just now where someone said again what I'd heard before and rather taken to heart, that you shouldn't post anything on the internet that you wouldn't be happy to have on a billboard. One thing that an IT-savvy friend told me (which might be more relevant) is don't post your DoB on FB as that is the one piece of information that an identify thief most needs.

Scout19075 · 18/09/2010 22:21

Looked on that thread -- what page? And is it really this room?

I fear I got a bit addicted to Glee. A fun bit of cheese.

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 18/09/2010 22:29

There were comments on a couple of pages I think. They didn't say which tea room they had in mind (there are others, I know) but there was a little bit of sniping about 'clubby' threads and 900 posts in the tea room. So what, really, and everyone's entitled to a view. I just hope it doesn't put off anyone who might be thinking of dropping in, who now thinks they won't be 'allowed'.

AandO · 18/09/2010 22:30

Scout - I think its page 7.

Small - I said "I guess I just figure that somebody I know would have to have been lurking in the tea room at the moment my rl name was written on here. Then they would know who I am and be able to read everything I write and go Ha, I never knew she thought that, or something along those lines. And that to me seems very unlikely. Of course I could be missing something, as I know nothing of internet safety. Perhaps now if someone googles my rl name AandO will also come up, along with anything written under the name AandO?" Is that the case? I did ask you purposely because you are paranoid Grin, but seriously, I thought you might know more about it. Thanks for dob tip.

teafortwo · 18/09/2010 22:32

Small - i' woz nuuufffin and liiiieeek so no' wuurf i'! Anyway to none daft chatty people it must all seem a bit barmy, boring and annoying so I am liiiek no' bovvered!

On the new people front... Hmmm... I have wondered that too... and the fact we have developed such a strong tea room culture that it is hard for new people to 'get'what has and is going on!

Last song for me -

night night x

It's the permanency that worries me - nothing ever dies on the internet. Have you tried Googling your real name and your MN name? If they pull up that post, then I guess there may be an issue about being identifiable. But then, as you say, it still depends on quite an unlikely sequence of events; that someone guesses your MN name and then uses it to confirm their hunch and then looks at all your posts. having said it's improbable, it's not impossible - one of Serpent's friends 'recognised' her here.

But as you never say anything mean about your spouse naughty like I do, you have nothing to be ashamed of! Wink

Scout19075 · 18/09/2010 22:45

Wow, I have just googled my name.

AandO · 18/09/2010 22:53

Thanks! I tried googling AandO - turns out I'm a chain of hotels in Germany and also a fine art website! Nothing came up for MN, which I'm surprised about. Perhaps I should have looked at more than 3 pages. Then I googled my rl name alongside AandO, and nothing came up at all. Then I googled my rl name on its own. All work stuff, I checked 3 pages. So I think I'm ok and won't have to name change. I feel comfy in this name Grin

teafortwo · 18/09/2010 23:00

Toploader - Oh the jooooy!!!

TBH - I have always thought that they seem like the shy nice boys who should but on account of the female mentality do not 'get it every night' instead end up looking after the girl who is a bit too drunk and crying about her soft toy monkey she lost when she was seven...

am I over thinking this??? Grin

I raise you this...

and because I love a bit of Chuck...

ASmallBunchOfFlowers · 18/09/2010 23:01

I love Scout's Catwalk song. We had it at our wedding.

Anyone for a final Bolly before bedtime?

AandO · 18/09/2010 23:02

Love 'under the bridge'!
