Anyone else miss the old gigs thread and have concerts planned?

Didn't there used to be a Gigs thread?

Anyway, just sorted tickets etc for Masta Ace + Live Band (!) at the Jazz Cafe nexrt month. Very excited about that! No late-night train to get home from Euston, sadly, means an overnight London stay, though. Resigning myself to being the oldest in the audience by some distance 😃, but I can live with that.

Sounds fun, I’ve always wanted
to get into Jazz, just don’t think I’ve found the right sort yet.
DH & I have been to a few gigs over the last few years, from our youths with Paul Simon being the most recent. (The man was phenomenal. Mid 80’s partially deaf, so gentle & musically wise. An absolute privilege.)
Dont think we have any lined up at the moment so definitely need to get looking - an empty calendar is not a
good one!
Thanks for restarting a doubtlessly inspirational thread, @moto748e

Masta Ace is deffo not jazz! But the Jazz Café does a good range of music genres.

ConstitutionHill · 27/05/2026 21:22

Father John Misty in Lisbon bullring next Monday. Fontaines DC in Cadiz beginning of August.

BringBackTheLight · 27/05/2026 21:37

MadCool in Madrid next one booked. Not sure if there'll be any small gigs before then. 🤞

gummywitch · 28/05/2026 20:46

Brigitte Calls Me Baby in September, Koko, London, if can get tickets tomorrow. Will be 5th time seeing them since last June. I'm obscessed 😍 Morrissey in December, Brighton. Old habits die hard.

Silverbirchleaf · 28/05/2026 21:05

I went to the Cheltenham jazz festival
for the first time recently. Don’t know much about jazz so chose some acts at random. Some I liked , others not so, even though I recognised they were good performers.

The only concert I’ve got lined up is Jack Savoretti. Bit thin on the ground at the moment.

CaffeinatedSeagull · 02/06/2026 14:49

I only have 2 lined up.

A Place To Bury Strangers in Hastings
Getdown Services in Brighton

Definitely need to add more. Tempted by Gurriers.

Divine Comedy, Suzanne Vega in local theatre in July.
Amanda Marshall at The Lower Third in Soho also July.

moto748e · 06/06/2026 23:09

I'd love to see Suzanne Vega! But nowhere near me, unfortunately; the only date in the North is in Halifax!

No… but I’ve done Madcool in the past, and it’s decent. Enjoy it!

I saw Brigitte Calls Me Baby last year, thought they were great. I have Blossoms in November and Morrissey in December booked so far.

Wrong tag sorry!
The lower third is a good venue though!

MurielTheTerrible · 23/07/2026 23:16

I've got The Cure and The Mission lined up, lifelong fan of both, seen them many times. @DoNoTakeNo if you are near London, an evening at Ronnie Scott's is always lovely. I go several times a year, sometimes to see someone I know, other times to take a chance on an unknown (to me).

OnTheBoardwalk · 23/07/2026 23:20

What gets me is people asking if they should go to a gig on their own

For me it’s absolutely yes, dont miss out on gigs just because your current friend group don’t like the same groups you do

Forestfire12345 · 24/07/2026 00:05

Just saw David Byrne again this week at Edinburgh Playhouse. He was outstanding. Next gig is OMD in Kelvingrove Bandstand, the Billy Ocean there too a few weeks after.
Sadly, 80s Festival was cancelled in Dundee this weekend, where I was off to stalk Tony Hadley.😁

moto748e · 24/07/2026 00:50

Oh I'd loved to have seen David Byrne!

Brandon Flowers at the O2 Academy in Birmingham in October and Paul Heaton at whatever the NIA is currently called in November.

They are great, I have seen them twice in the last 2 and a half years. I was disappointed I missed them at the Blackpool gig as I wasn't back from holiday in time.
Ron still does does running man thing, but not for long now. Last time it was for about 30 seconds.

notacooldad · 24/07/2026 14:04

Yes to this, I've been doing that since I was 15, admittedly my mum called me weird but I have FOMO and at 60 its not fading.

If no one fancies it, well so sad but I'm not missing out.

I haven't got tickets to the main events at Rebellion next month in Blackpool but im still going to go and have a look. If no one fancies it, im still happy to to to bars and watch the side shows.
