Anyone else miss the old gigs thread and have concerts planned?

Didn't there used to be a Gigs thread?

Anyway, just sorted tickets etc for Masta Ace + Live Band (!) at the Jazz Cafe nexrt month. Very excited about that! No late-night train to get home from Euston, sadly, means an overnight London stay, though. Resigning myself to being the oldest in the audience by some distance 😃, but I can live with that.

I am going to see an Orchestra playing Kate Bush songs in a candlelit cathedral, The Damned, Ash, The Darkness, Ezio before Christmas. Next year I have tickets to see John Lydon Q&A session and Francis Rossi (my husband likes Quo. I’m not such a fan)

I’ve booked tickets in Cadogan hall to see Chris de Burgh. I thought the tickets were really well priced and got good seats. I’ve seen him once before, in Royal Albert hall, so this is a much smaller venue.

does he still do Patricia the Stripper. Saw him and Supertramp in a double bill in... 82? 83? and he was brill

I have tickets for skindred in Cardiff next may. Very excited they are my favourite band 😁 annoyed that I listened to my husband and didn’t get tickets for Birmingham in October but am still looking for resale ones!

I've got Steve Hackett in October and Gypsy Kings in November. Just waiting for Friday now so I can book Mike and the Mechanics. All at the Glasshouse in Gateshead.

I want to go to Mike &The Mechanics next year but no concerts within easy travelling distance. Saw them in 24 and 25 in Southend.

SanMarinoOutletExperience · 26/09/2026 00:35

@AllTheGigs I'd love to see NMA again. Are they still as good live as they used to be?

We've got a few gigs coming up, a couple with the bonus of a holiday thrown in:

Laibach in Ghent
Baby Lasagna in Milan
Kaarija
Bis
Erika Vikman

Last 3 rather closer to home in Glasgow. I've lost count of the number of times we've seen Bis. They're always fantastic live and are still coming up with great, new music. Love them.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 26/09/2026 00:45

I’m seeing Suede/Manics in November. Seen them both before lots especially Suede, they are incredible live. Also seeing The Mission and Muse. I’m so excited.

newmenewwhatever · 26/09/2026 07:36

@cheesychipsontheocheyou going to wax & beans ?

Geeseofbeverlyroad · 26/09/2026 08:34

I've seen Suede a lot - always amazing. I saw them earlier this year and average about once a year. I also saw the last joint headliner with the Manics.

I've got Band of Horses, The Strokes and The Wonder Stuff with Inspiral Carpets in October. November is Yard Act, Teenage Fanclub and Fontaines DC. Finishing the year off with Jamie T.

I'm hoping that The National feature heavily in my next year's gigs.

The NMA gigs still have a lot of energy, but let's face it the band and about 70% of the audience are in our 60s now... but there are still pyramids of half-naked men, mosh pits and tattoos galore :D

Tarkan · 26/09/2026 14:18

Just added Twin Atlantic to my upcoming gigs. So they’ll be gig 7 of the year then The Snuts for gig 8. DH won’t be too happy as he really wanted to go but he’s working. 🙈

CMOTDibbler · 26/09/2026 14:30

@WorthySloth where are you seeing Little Angels? I'm going to Wolverhampton and Cardiff. Also going to Skindred in Cardiff.
We're just back from a 4 day festival in Kentucky, so I saw Babymetal, Mac Sabbath (bonkers), The Prodigy (insane moshpit), Alice Cooper, Ministry, TX2, Pretty Reckless and loads more.
Also will be seeing the Levellers this year, but mostly can't wait to see Little Angels back together.

WorthySloth · 26/09/2026 14:34

Seeing little angels in Wolverhampton and skindred in Cardiff 😁 also Florence Black in Cardiff just before Christmas and then in Wolverhampton in February

WorthySloth · 26/09/2026 14:36

We live in the south west so always have to travel to see anyone 🤣🤣

Yes, absolutely love a gig there.

newmenewwhatever · 26/09/2026 20:12

@cheesychipsontheocheso do I!
I would not be surprised if it is moved over the road as block party was

PantaloonMad · 26/09/2026 20:14

Recently seen Corella - amazing live show

AllTheGigs · 25/09/2026 15:15

ohhh thanks. My DH is a bit too old for that wave of Ska and has absolutely no connection to it (although he did love the Specials when we saw them)

We have just bought tickets to a Genesis cover band doing the albums in the aftermath of Gabriel leaving.

after reading this I said to my husband (who is into music) ‘oh theres a bbc doc about the origin of ska’ - and he thought I was talking about Scar from The Lion King 😂

TheTwerkingDuchessOfMonteshitshow · 26/09/2026 20:25

Rigoletto at our local Opera House next weekend

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 26/09/2026 21:12

Taking DD 13 to see chase and status next year. I saw them last year and they were brilliant.
DH and DD and I are going to watch placebo November

SusanSHelit · 26/09/2026 21:15

Muse in November with dm and ds and placebo in December with dp, very excited 😄

FlorenceBlack · 26/09/2026 21:28

Kris Barras, this will be the fifth and probably last time we’ll see him live as he’s announced he’s taking a break from music.

Shinedown

Simple Minds next year with Gary Numan as support, very excited for that one

I saw Chris Barras at Bristol sounds and was supposed to see him at drakes island but he cancelled that last minute so we saw mother vulture in the junction instead. Can’t make any of the tour dates work for us unfortunately so won’t be seeing him.

I actually know his sister which is a tenuous claim to fame 🤣🤣

AllTheGigs · 27/09/2026 08:21

i wish we'd had Gary Numan supporting Simple Minds. We had Thomas Dolby which really isn't my thing.

Have just booked tickets for a Tom Petty coverband next week. (anyone else go for the cover bands? sometimes it's the only way to enjoy the music i love live, since so many bands are no more. In particular Pink Floyd)

WorthySloth · 27/09/2026 10:30

@AllTheGigsi love a cover band. I live in a little town in North Devon and getting to actual gigs is a challenge. We have a great small music venue where they put on covers bands and local original bands and it’s brilliant.
