(ok, most of the above dislikes are based on my long suffering wife, although she does like Iron Maiden (I suspect this is more due to Bruce Dickinson and his penchant for aerobic exercise than his penchant for tight spandex)

Deep Purple and Sabbath are OK - I wouldn't say I was a fan but I like a lot of their stuff. I've seen Hawkwind live (my Dad took me) and think they'd get more female listeners than Dumpy's Rusty Nuts who were one of their supports.

Teenage Fanclub, RHCP, XTC, Joy Division, New Order, Inspirals, Dinosaur jr (excellent cover of Just like Heaven)Wonderstuff, Dodgy etc are all good, but as I'm also a saddo SciFi geek who plays console games and gets far to excited by 'Cult' TV I know that although I have the body of a saggy 37 yo woman, I definitely have the mentality of a 15 yo boy

oh god, Yngwie Malmsteen takes me back. When I was 16 I used to get late night phone calls from my friends long haired 15 yo neighbour who used to play me YM riffs down the line for hours. It was a few weeks before I realised it was his cackhanded attempt to chat me up!

but as for bands/artists women dislike? snoop dog man or whatever he's called, fifty cent and those nasty gansta rappers with their 'hos' and 'bitches' writhing on top of the lamborghini. Puke city.

Oh and those terrible weirdo 80s metal groups into black magic and devils, judas priest and the like. FREAKS!!!!

Well I ahve always liked a lot of blokey bands like Deep Purple, the Scorpions, Guns & Roses and more recently Pearl Jam, The Wildhearts, Kaiser Cheifs, Kasabian.
What always gets up my nose is those compilations of Music for Women which are always full of such excruciating insulting crap, endless bad disco and lame RnB - Bur I also think there's a non-gender category of Bands Only Wanky Music Journalists Like. These are always totally unlistenable but journalists who have listened to so much music that their ears are numb tend to find the equivalent of someone playing the kazoo in a kettledrum and farting to be radical new music.

Having said that I do have a soft spot for both Atari Teenage Riot and Cradle of Filth because both bands are magnificent for clearing a room and scaring the crap out of any sensitive new man who might be trying to discuss his emotions. Same goes for ANdrew WK.

Who did "The Bad Touch"? The one about 'doing it like they do it on the discovery channel' - they're quite a misogynistic band IIRC
