I like Steely Dan, Prefab Sprout and XTC.

I also love other non-girl bands/musos - like Gong, Frank Zappa, The Doors etc.

Deffo don;t like prog rock, because it's usually a load of pretentious wank.

To continue my offensive generalisations, I'd muse that the majority of women don't like pompous music that takes itself far too seriously and prizes 'musicianship' over good melodic and lyrical content.

IMO most blues music is a bit of a man's thing. I think it's a bit like man flu: poor old me - my woman done left me, nobody's got it worse than me, yadda yadda yadda. Oh cheer up you miserable git.
