Oasis - The Reunion (Definitely?! Maybe?!)

Ok, slightly a TAAT....

I'm putting this here for all those that are actually happy and quite excited about the prospect of Oasis getting back together.

For me, Oasis was the soundtrack to my coming of age, venture into adulthood. I was 19 when DM was released, and I still play it often.

My first Oasis gig was Knebworth - 4 hours I spent on the phone trying to get tickets for me and my friends!

Lucky enough to see them a further 6 times over the years, one of the best was on the Dig out your soul tour at Bournemouth with a full gospel choir, it really was magnificent.
Also saw them at Wembley stadium, the last night of 3 when they played Whatever - they rarely played it and it was the first time in years, again such a moment and just a couple of months before they fell out.

So, I know I'm in a minority on here but I'm definitely getting up tomorrow before 0800 (which will be a pain as I'm on a 12 hour late shift later!)

Yay Cardiff!!!!

Bluebellsinthewind · 27/08/2024 08:06

Just seen the announcement on X. Tickets on sale Saturday morning at 9am.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 27/08/2024 08:07

I would so love to go to this either in Wembley or Cardiff.

I have never been successful at securing tickets for massive concerts like these.

Any tips?

Ticketmaster only let you have one device open now (well that's how it was for TS)

But presumably more than one of you can be trying…

myfitbitisfucked · 27/08/2024 09:05

Seen them a few times they have always been great. I first saw them at Warwick University before they hit the big time and their first album was released. The ticket was a couple of quid. Liam and Noel came and drank in one of the union bars. Prices rose after that 🤣 Wonder how much these tickets will cost!

As long as you have different TM accounts.

When trying for TS tickets last year, the server knew if you had multiple devices open.
Or it might just be a free for all as there is no pre registration or anything!

Good point, @JaneIves

Can’t help feeling they’ve burned through their millions and want to stuff the coffers again.
i felt they were arrogant and let down so many fans in the past.

Well obviously …..why else would they? But they could sell out stadiums the world round if they wanted

Around £100 quid some sites are saying

And Manchester….don’t forget Manchester!

BrandyandGinger · 27/08/2024 10:41

I'll be up and logged in to get tickets for Dublin. I'll try and bribe a DC or two to queue as well. I've never seen them. I'd absolutely love to go.

TokyoSushi · 27/08/2024 11:19

Heaton Park is a pretty horrible venue, rubbish to get to, no facilities to speak of but very 'authentic' - it would have been far nicer at the Etihad but there we go!

Maybe the older audience will be a bit more refined than they were 15 or so years ago, but I'm not banking on it!

I might try for Wembley or Cardiff even though Manchester is by far my closest venue, but then who am I if I'm trying to do Oasis 'naicely'?!

enoughofthiscrap · 27/08/2024 11:38

I've never got to see them live. I'm beyond excited for this. I have wished for years for a reunion. I'm currently trying to manifest tickets. I can see myself dancing away to She's Electric 😁

queenofthewild · 27/08/2024 11:43

DH is beyond excited. DS wants to go and is begging for tickets.

I'd enjoy going, but won't be heartbroken if we can't get tickets. I've seen them live as a band and as individuals a number of times. For me nothing will ever beat Noel's beautiful acoustic set at the Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

I’m like this too 😄 and we’re nearer Manchester.
DD is in London anyway and wants to go, so I’ll try for Wembley 🤞🏻

mitogoshi · 27/08/2024 11:49

I think it's going to be harder that TS to get tickets! At least I had a code for that so it was straightforward. Just hoping Cardiff isn't as popular

GuessingGownaGoGo · 27/08/2024 11:52

All at the height of Summer though, how are we gonna wear our parkas?!

MorrisZapp · 27/08/2024 11:54

Stadium gigs are great but if you're over thirty, don't go to Heaton Park. We went to the Stone Roses reunion gig there and while the music was brilliant, the whole thing fell flat for us because of the piss poor planning and lack of accessibility.

They promised buses to the gig, hardly any materialised. There was one bar, poorly staffed, and on a warm summer evening I had precisely no drinks at all because we had to give up on the queue. No drinks of any kind were allowed in, this was rigorously enforced at the entrance. This is all fine for youngsters high on life but we were forty and just couldn't grasp why it wasn't done properly.

Stadiums run like machines - drinks, food, toilets all plentiful and proper transport links.

Obviously if you live near Heaton Park then 'ave it kid 😊

LlynTegid · 27/08/2024 11:56

Not planning to go, but glad of the warning of what loads of people will be doing on Saturday morning.

Waiting for the 'it's so unfair' threads later that day for those who don't get tickets.

The Etihad is not Maine Road, that is the only Manchester stadium that would be appropriate and of course is not there now.

TokyoSushi · 27/08/2024 12:03

I've seen them at the Etihad though and it was ace, I've also seen them at Heaton Park, less ace! 🤣

I think if I were bankrolling this tour I'd be very concerned about them falling out after 2 shows and the rest getting cancelled.

Absolutely, go to an early gig! Saw them at V festival, their last gig before split. You could feel the division between Liam and Noel. Saw them also at Slane Castle which was possible the worst organised gig ever in terms of getting into the gig. Liam solo and Noel solo both seemed to have something missing. If they can manage their emotions around each other these gigs could be amazing.
