Having come across some v misogynistic attitudes across social media on heavy metal boards I thought I would start a thread were is women fans of all things hard and heavy could hang out, feel free to say hi.

I'm here after reading the thread There wasn't the rubbish that goes on now in the late 80s and 90s when I got I to metal. Metal was about going against the grain and sing about things that matter. Hard hitting topics like the holocaust from Slayer. Environmental issues from Testament.

Hi there. Yeah at the time my favourite band was Metallica. I got into them about 88/89 so …And Justice for All was on repeat - it was so different to what a lot of my school friends were listening to. Blackened - environmental issues, one - anti war. But Ride the Lightening was my favourite (still is).

I can remember devouring Kerrang week after week with their running commentary on the recording of the Black Album! It’s lost its specialness with the internet I think. Huddled under the bed clothes listening to The Friday Rock Show.

Metallica and Iron Maiden are my all time favourites. One is so powerful and I love Ride The Lightning and Master of Puppets.

Yes I got into Maiden around the same time, but for some reason (prob too much thrash) I just could dig Bruce’s style. But then ironically it was his solo stuff that I fell in love with )Tears of a Dragon is my funeral song😀). I then copied a tape of SIT off someone in Maths and bought 7th Son.

Have you caught either the Metallica or Maiden Tour this time?

Black metal fan here. Encountered all sorts of misogyny from 'you probably only like them because you fancy them' 'go on, name one song!' And 'did your boyfriend get you into them?'
I'm a metal fan. Have been since a teen. I introduced my then boyfriend to loads of bands like strapping young lad, Mastodon, type o negative, Sepultura, Jack off Jill.
Now I look like any other suburban house wife (I'm not but you know the look) but my heart will always belong to metal.

Hi all.

Favourite bands are Metallica, my first ever album was master of puppets and then Halloween’s keeper of the seven keys. Also love to listen to Korn, and currently Nightwish, have lost count the amount of times I have seen them live.

I listen to different types of metal, but thrash is my all time favourite.

I think once a Metal Fan always a Metal fan. The most “extreme” band I like is Behemoth - Nergal is a really interesting dude.

it’s strange isn’t it how people always assume you’re tagging on to the man, I recently took DH to a maiden concert- I had to suggest he might not fit in wearing a blazer😂

I can remember being so furious at school when the boys were all enjoying Rammstein's first album (and chosing German in their options due to this) and the girls were all expected to be into whichever boy band was the current popular one. I never liked boy bands. 😆

God I love Nightwish, the stars have never aligned to see them live though, what are they like? the atmosphere always looks incredible. Think Steve Harris once said they’re really the only band who’s fans rival maidens.

@Gahhhhereheisagain it’s all been dropped due to lack of evidence and some huge inconsistencies in their claims! I was in Berlin for one of their shows and the worlds most pathetic ‘protest’ tried to start on the fans outside 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hi there!

Fellow metalhead/rock chick here.

I grew up on sixties rock n roll and 80s hair metal and by the time I'd hit my early teens had discovered grunge and heavy metal. Pearl Jam and Metallica were my first loves.

I have loads of favourite bands and songs, but my biggest love is Marilyn Manson and has been for about 20 odd years now (well aware that he's in the midst of an awful scandal so save the hate).

I am absolutely an aging goth! Other favourites are Rob Zombie, In This Moment, Slipknot, Mushroomhead, and Rammstein.

Hi there. Did you see Corey Taylor recently on Sunday brunch (I think it was) making a Pom Pom- perhaps the most surreal thing I’ve ever seen lol
