Having come across some v misogynistic attitudes across social media on heavy metal boards I thought I would start a thread were is women fans of all things hard and heavy could hang out, feel free to say hi.

I have drifted off from music tbh, was a regular kerrang reader in my youth. My favourite was always system of a down, I like the quirkier or weirder end of music tbh. Have seen a lot of prog bands for my sins with ex. I can't say I was shocked about Til, most front men are wronguns. Or arrogant and entitled at least.

I think depression is probably the reason I just cba with music anymore. Sad though was a big part of my life.

WetBandits · 08/09/2023 21:02

Hi friends 😁😁😁😁

Calistano · 08/09/2023 21:02

I used to love deftones, they were rubbish live tho (download 2003)

Carsarelife · 08/09/2023 21:02

@countdowntonap me! Around the Fur album?

WetBandits · 08/09/2023 21:02

Maatandosiris · 08/09/2023 20:28

any new bands you can recommend?

Bad Omens are a new favourite of mine!

Calistano · 08/09/2023 21:06

One of my favourite gigs was Marilyn manson Leeds 2001, epic. Can't believe anyone was surprised how he turned out though tbh. It was all there in his autobiography.

I went to see Iron Maiden at O2 in July and I'm 51 now.

Saw them in Birmingham- CSIT, Alexander and hell on earth were the highlights )would have been stranger in a strange land apart from missing the first break😀. What did you think?

I too love my rock and metal - did see Maiden this year which was amazing and Metallica at the cinema although you can probably guess who my fave rock singer is.

New bands wise this year i saw South of Salem at Stonedead Festival who were outstanding. Also have a soft spot for Black Spiders

Sorry to hear that. You ought to blast a bit of chop suey see how it feels.

I’ve got ptsd and blocking external sounds brought a whole new purpose to music😀

Hi joining. Massive pantera fan here. Love that finally can talk about decent music 😁

Deathbyfluffy · 08/09/2023 21:11

My wife loves metal - so do a lot of their friends.
It’s great to be part of a crowd with such good taste!

Deathbyfluffy · 08/09/2023 21:12

*her friends, that should be!

mommalaulau · 08/09/2023 21:12

@Maatandosiris I have PTSD too and when I tell my therapist that I blast heavy metal when I need to chill it seems ridiculous to say, but I find it relaxing!
Nothing like humming along to people = sh*t over and over when I'm in an extremely depressive state. Cheers me right up!

I’m sure I read something about heavy metal fans being the most chilled. It gets out the angst I think. Also great for the ADHD mind😀

@SquashPenguin the recent allegations against Til shocked me Sad

I've been a huge fan of Rammstein for years.

I'm saddened and so disappointed by the allegations against Lindemann. Unfortunately I can't say that I'm altogether surprised.

It would be terrible if his behaviour sunk the reputation of the band, albeit not nearly so terrible as it would have been for the victims.

I can't not love Flake.

Calistano · 08/09/2023 21:15

I will always warble along tunelessly to chop suey. Surely even people who are not into metal love chop suey Grin.

Tbh I don't really count myself as a metal fan, more alt I suppose love pixies, frank black, radiohead. I have seen iron maiden tho at download, have never been more tired in my life, thankfully another pregnant lady let me sit on her inflatable chair, real camaraderie.

Carsarelife · 08/09/2023 21:16

@Maatandosiris trouble is Maiden have so many songs and albums it's hard to play them all. I love Wasted Years and they played that at the end. Would have liked Powerslave too but didn't play it.
I was glad I went. I'd love a Metallica concert to come up soon

Calistano · 08/09/2023 21:18

Anyone else like Anthema? Was really into them for awhile.

SerafinasGoose · 08/09/2023 21:19

Also on reading this thread I think I've nearly drowned in a tidal wave of nostalgia for the heady good old days of Sonisphere and Download. Seen Metallica play there, Slayer, Rammstein, Maiden and so many greats.

The Swedish Death Stars are also tremendous. Terrible band name, amazing music!

One-time Goth here too 🧟‍♀️

They weren't great at Download last year either, just missed the mark a bit. Korn were fucking excellent though 😁

We're a bit of a crossover household. DH is a proper metaller, I mainly like late 90s cali punk, we have enough crossover to make it ok.

Mostly we just listen to Ghost. It's a reasonable compromise 😁

Untilitsleeps1 · 08/09/2023 21:19

Thanks for this thread! Went upstairs to get dressed after shower and say it. Now still in my towel but have listened to several songs I haven’t listened to in ages.

I don’t listen to metal as much these days but I loved Kerang back in the day. I love system of a down, smashing pumpkins, Metallica, Pearl jam, iron maiden, some slayer / rammstein, Alice in Chains etc.

I’ve seen Linkin Park, Evanesence, Smashing pumpkins x2, Slayer etc live.

I did get into it via my brother.

currently listening to S&M album and my favourite Until it Sleeps.

Yeah, I think with Maiden it’s like your favourite song is the last one you heard, just so many. I really hope we get another album. Really looking forward to Bruce’s new one.

Yeah, not really a fan of this 2 night thing with Metallica. Hoping we get some regular shows soon
