Just wondering if anyone else managed to to get Pulp tickets today, all my 20 something year old work colleagues had no idea who Pulp were and though I was mad for being so excited!

I forgot to update after Scarborough but just saw this thread pop back up - they were amazing! I had tears in my eyes when Jarvis came on stage at first. The weather was shocking despite it being glorious all day, and I think we might have had a slightly shorter set because of this - people had to come in and dry off the stage. They went slightly (a few minutes) over the curfew, unlike when I saw The National in Manchester and the plug was literally pulled mid-song. I’m jealous of everyone still to see them.

Great photos! I work in Scarborough so I know quite a few people who were at the gig and they all absolutely raved about it.

savemejebus · 14/07/2023 11:25

@legosunqueen I'm at Sheffield tonight too! Been waiting so long to see Pulp, I'm literally buzzing

Qilin · 14/07/2023 11:41

I'm at Sheffield tonight too.

I'm actually not overly well as recovering from pneumonia and still on ABs after a hospital visit on Monday where they gave me much stronger ones. But I've been so determined to make tonight. Luckily I live here so not having to travel, and a friend via work managed to sort my tickets (linked to the band) so I have good seats, so can sit down when I need to. I'm spending today pretty much in bed/resting on the sofa, with a nap this afternoon to ensure I can make it. I was always brought up that if you were too poorly for school (now work) then you don't get to go out - but tonight I'm making an exception!

We went to their last Sheffield date and it was fabulous so hoping for another great evening, even if it means I'll be worn out tomorrow!

Qilin · 14/07/2023 11:41

21y dd also likes Pulp but is abroad for the summer so she's a bit envious she is missing tonight.

I can't believe the Leadmill is still going! I first went there in 1986 when my best friend's sister was at Sheffield uni. It seemed very different from other clubs we'd been to, did it have a chill out area or somewhere you could get food? That seemed very exotic then!

The Leadmill is still up and running.

leadmill.co.uk

But it's at risk of eviction due to new ownership of the building. There were lots of petitions, etc about it though it's gone a bit quiet recently.

And yes, it did have a quieter area with a food place - like a fast food type counter iirr. To be fair it's years since I've been - dd is more likely to be found there these days

NorthFaceofthelaundrypile · 14/07/2023 16:57

I used to love The Leadmill -1994-99. I spent almost all my Friday nights there, and wouldn’t think anything of walking all the way back to Walkley with friends afterwards… oh to have that kind of stamina now!
Can’t wait for Friday night at Latitude, but think it might be another very soggy one!

MurielThrockmorton · 14/07/2023 17:22

Yeah I have my eye on the Latitude weather, we've just got day tickets and a cottage though!

CalmConfident · 15/07/2023 05:10

Those of you who were at Sheffield tonight…what tone did you arrive, what was the parking like? Driving up this afternoon - so excited !!!!

savemejebus · 15/07/2023 07:07

@CalmConfident you are in for such a treat! We got caught in traffic so got to the arena about 6:45. It wasn't busy at that time. The queue for drinks was mental though. The arena didn't seem to really fill up until after Richard Hawley, so about 8.30 ish. Pulp came on bang on 9pm. Ps There's 2 encores - don't leave after the 1st one like loads did! Enjoy!

savemejebus · 15/07/2023 07:08

@CalmConfident oh also the parking at the arena was chaos when leaving, we parked a mile away at Meadowhall

CalmConfident · 15/07/2023 08:26

Thanks folks! I’ve already pre-booked arena parking (doh!) did not realise Meadowhall was walkable…planning to gage a sneaky shop beforehand :)

savemejebus · 15/07/2023 09:41

I'm sure it was just the initial post gig rush that looked chaos. Have the greatest time!! I want to see them again and wished I'd bought some merch

CalmConfident · 15/07/2023 10:19

Oooooo……merch….☺️

Qilin · 15/07/2023 11:32

We had parking at the arena.
We arrived a bit later as Dh was having to get back from a work event - about half 7 or just after. Richard Hawley was in when we got in, but only just I think. There were still some (moving) queues ti get in at that time.

Afterwards it took us a bit less than 10 minutes to leave the car park. It looked a bit chaotic but in reality it wasn't too bad tbh.

Qilin · 15/07/2023 11:34

And yes - lots started to leave before the last encore as there is basically two encores.
Had a great day. Shattered now but so worth it!

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 15/07/2023 11:36

They were amazing, l wish l could go again tonight. We went on the tram. It was packed on the way back but a great atmosphere.

legosunqueen · 15/07/2023 14:26

What a fabulous evening - Richard Hawley was good too but Pulp blew me away! We parked in a side street & we out if the area in 5 minutes.

FartOutLoudDay · 15/07/2023 15:24

Arrived into Sheffield to a massive flash of lightning! Now playing find the hotel 🤦‍♀️

FartOutLoudDay · 15/07/2023 17:16

Thank god this gig is indoors, that’s all I can say 😂 🌧️🌧️🌧️

CalmConfident · 15/07/2023 20:12

i am here! I have found my seat and have a beer! So excited !!!!

cockerhooping · 16/07/2023 00:06

The Leadmilll is free entry with proof of Pulp tickets. Drinks are cheap and there's three different music genre rooms going on. It's very post Pulp heavy and great old fashioned fun!

CalmConfident · 16/07/2023 01:21

Fabulous evening ☺️

FartOutLoudDay · 16/07/2023 14:04

Was way too tired to make it to Leadmill, much to DH’s disappointment! Peaked too soon after a few drinks earlier in the day!

It was a great gig but couple of things didn’t quite make it legendary status for me - thought vocals were hard to hear in the first few songs, not enough from Hardcore, some absolute twat behind us filming every second song with the brightest flash I’ve ever seen on a phone, could have been used to land fecking planes. And thought the choice of last song was odd. I know it was a treat to get a previously unplayed song but would have preferred them to have gone out on a singalong.

Having said that, musically incredible, visuals were brilliant and he is such a phenomenal front man you could watch him all day. And everyone we met all day was so friendly!
