Multiple award winner Jim Parsons, who's best known for playing Sheldon Cooper in the sitcom The Big Bang Theory, is in town to talk about his new film HOME.

Jim's going to be answering your questions direct to camera so now's your chance to get them down and line 'em up here. We'll select the best of the bunch and see what he has to say about The Big Bang Theory, HOME and all things quirky.

In his latest film, Jim will feature as the voice of Oh, a loveable misfit from another planet who lands on Earth and finds himself on the run from his own people. An unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip (Rihanna) takes him on a series of comic adventures, and while he changes her planet and she changes his world, they discover the true meaning of the word HOME.

HOME will be released in cinemas across the UK on Friday 20th March 2015.

Hi Jim,
I just wanted to say that my three and a half year old absolutely loves your character from the Big Bang Theory. He has a speech disorder but asks for 'Big Bang' every evening before bed. X

MurielWoods · 17/02/2015 19:04

Hi Jim, just wanted to say that we are huge fans of yours, my DS has a life sized cardboard cut out of you in his room which makes me shriek every time I go in there Grin

My question is: If Jamie Dornan turns down the next movie for Fifty Shades, would Sheldon Cooper step into his place? Grin

AWholeLottaNosy · 17/02/2015 19:29

Love TBBT!

My question is, how hard is it to learn all the science stuff that your character has to say? Do you actually understand it and if not, do you have a technique for learning it so you can say it with conviction?

Was very impressed with your recounting the 'Scissors, lizard, rock, paper, Spock' game! ( don't think I said that in the right order...)

This isn't a question but am very touched by how many people with children with Aspbergers have found joy and identification through your character. Smile

NeonFlapjacks · 17/02/2015 19:43

Hi Jim, 14yr old daughter and I are big fans too! We were in California for her birthday last year and she was gutted not to get into TBBT set on the studio tour.

Osmiornica asked my question, so we'll go with daughter's - can you describe each of your TBBT co-stars in one word?

And if you could give a shout out to Caitlyn, it would make her year Smile

spanky2 · 17/02/2015 19:47

We love TBBT too! My friend's son has asbergers and Sheldon really explains the condition. My son wants to do his own show, a bit like fun with flags!
I want to know how you know where to put the intonation in Sheldon's lines? It is really original. Just love 'hokum' and 'prevening' .

TiggyD · 17/02/2015 20:08

American eh? We tend not to get many of those types on here.
How's that whole "Independence" thing going? Many regrets? We might still be willing to have you back you know, if you promise to behave.

elQuintoConyo · 17/02/2015 20:35

So... are you a muppet of a man, or a very manly muppet?

how original!

nachodad · 17/02/2015 20:39

Hi Jim. My question is 'what do you think makes the relationship between a boy and his Meemaw so special?'

EdithWeston · 17/02/2015 20:51

How much money came in to standup2cancer following your video?

And which of the characters from that video did you most enjoy being (and why)?

InAndOfMyself · 17/02/2015 21:08

Could you please bring the stage production of Harvey to the UK please? I would like to see you in it. TIA

iseenodust · 17/02/2015 21:36

What would you like to confess to, that you have done in real life, that has caused your friends to go 'Oh no!' ?

DS age10 also recognised your voice straight away in the trailer. He is a keen tennis player and you are one of the few cool guys TV finds when scanning the fans so it would be helpful if you would keep going to help grow the sport amongst his friends. Thank you. Grin

wannabestressfree · 17/02/2015 22:03

After playing sheldon for such a long period of time is it difficult to step away from him when your playing other characters? Was it fun to play the character in home as it's based purely on your voice?
We are particularly excited about home :)

BreakOutTheKaraoke · 17/02/2015 22:27

Wow! Well done Mumsnet, what a catch!

I'm going to go for two questions:
Where there any TV shows growing up that had an impact on your acting, and made you decide to enter a TV sitcom rather than pursue films and theatre?

Are you happy with the way Sheldon has progressed as a character? Sometimes I watch earlier episodes of the show, and find it strange the way that Sheldon reacts to things now- almost as if he is aware of his quirks and playing them up, manipulating people, rather than the earlier methods where it just was, and had to be, his way, there was just no other option. Was this a planned growth in the character, or just how he has developed?

My daughter and I are great fans of you, and the show, and the new movie sounds very fun from the clip! Very excited to see you on Mumsnet too.

trinitybleu · 17/02/2015 22:55

Big fans in this house - my 7 year old daughter sings Soft Kitty, knocks 3 times and throws in lizards and Spocks when playing Rock, Paper, Scissors. Home comes out on her 8th birthday so we'll be there on opening night! She'd like to know what song makes you put your arms in the air like you just do not care?

My DP and I would like to know who thought of Bazinga and where did it come from? My DP had a dream recently that he was in a ball pit and doing the diving thing, but the pit was full of puppies .... Grin

GerbilsAteMyCat · 17/02/2015 23:27

Jim,
What is your favourite place in San Diego (he went to university there).
Thanks!

Hi Jim! You are amazing! I can't wait to see you on Broadway! My question is: Do you prefer being on Broadway and performing on stage, or do you prefer being on a set for a TV show or movie?

WrappedInABlankie · 18/02/2015 00:12

Will Shelton ever have coitus with Amy? Not for biological reasons but because he loves here Smile

WrappedInABlankie · 18/02/2015 00:12

Bogeyface · 18/02/2015 01:08

In our house we have agreed that Sheldon is a very positive role model. My 13 yr old daughter is a NerdGirl (her words) and very proud of it. We were particularly moved by Sheldons explanation about how hard he finds it to relate to people and understand them, it explains his sometimes seemingly selfish and arrogant behaviour and takes the heat out of it.

Do you feel that Sheldon is a positive or negative role model and why?

MasterOfMuppets · 18/02/2015 05:49

Hello Jim,

Has fame changed your life much? And is acting what you dreamed of doing?

Onethirdamidwife · 18/02/2015 06:22

Loved spotting Jim in the muppets - is he a muppet or a man?

No seriously will Sheldon and Amy ever take their relationship to the next level? Wink
Love love love Big Bang theory x

gerrybo44 · 18/02/2015 07:18

hi Jim, welcome to the U.K.
do you request anything special in your dressing room?
thanks. Smile
