STOP PRESS! Live pre-wedding webchat with our very own Kate Middleton, TODAY at 1pm

Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

Dear Kate,

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming nuptials. Is it weird seeing posters, banners and shop displays advertising your wedding and selling memorabilia everywhere you go? Or is it all just a bit of a whirlwind at the moment with no time to notice things like this?

Enjoy Friday!

"1000 of the Prince and Miss Middleton's closest friends invited to the Abbey"

But seriously, are you really not going to put in an appearance at your parents alternative reception at the Goring hotel for your sides family and friends?

First, thank you for making it OK to be Catherine with a C and Kate with a K at the same time. My DD is Catherine but I've always thought Cate looked slightly odd. At least now I can point people in your direction when they tell me I can't do both Grin

Congratulations and Good Luck for Friday. I'm sure there are a multitude of people ensuring nothing goes wrong but just in case....

And remember, Mumsnet isn't just for "Grrrr my MIL" threads. We do Grand-MIL and Step-MIL's too....do come back Wink

although I think the NN KateMiddleton might already be taken

Congratulations Kate/Catherine. I wish you both a very happy life together. I think my invite was lost in the post though Sad Can I have a replacement please? Grin

Arf. Really, truly? OK. I'll bite.

Kate - good luck with it all. Thank you for letting your wedding be our entertainment for the day. I wish you much happiness. Remember it's all about the journey, not the destination.

Also, you are not too skinny. Really, who cares anyway? (Although your teeth are fab btw - so shiny.)

Good luck with the balcony etiquette thing. I imagine they will advise no thumbs up and no snogging. I say, if you want to, go for it.

What will you do if you wake up (like I did on my wedding day) with a massive spot?!!

Wow, well done MNHQ Grin

Welcome Kate.

I hope you have a fabulous day on Friday - wishing you all the best.

My question, what would you choose as your MN nickname? (you don't have to give us the one you currently use by the way Wink )

Following on - all these parties....are you going to be wearing more than one dress?

So sorry but I read this thread and had to check that I hadn't woken up in a TARDIS and gone back to 1st April.

OK so we have all been playing the Royal Wedding name game (Lord / Lady + Name of one of your grand parents + Pet name double barrelled with Road you grew up on)

Would Catherine care to enlighten us to hers?

And what is Catherine's favourite biscuit? Is it a Jammy Dodger? Duchy Original would be just too boring!!

Well done MN!!!

Hi Kate, I'm very excited for you.
What time will you start getting ready on Friday? I know I was up at the crack of dawn and I got married at 1. Wishing you all the luck in the world!

Would just like to thank William and Catherine for giving us the push to have a street party. Been talking about it for years and it has never happened, but this Friday we will be and everybody is really looking forward to it. As residents we range in age from 90 something to just a few months so you can see it is going to be a real celebration across the generations.

Very many congratulations.

Good luck for the big day!

So.... Being nosy.... When you were planning your wedding as a little girl what song did you want your first dance to be to? I imagine the Palace aren't too keen on a bit of Eric Clapton or Stevie Wonder.

Hi Kate, welcome to mums net!

I wish you the best of luck for Friday!

If your first child is a girl do you think the succession thingy should be changed?

I can't wait to see your dress, and do hope it will put an end to the trend for strapless dresses that has been around for ever (I assume it is not strapless)

Also, I hope you do use mums net in future when you are struggling with morning sickness, feeding your baby, relationship issues - it is a great resource!

Hi Catherine,

Has the Queen offered you any advice about Friday, and if so what was it?

I'd also really like to know if you've seen THAT film?

Hi Kate,

Good luck for Friday - I hope you have an amazing day. Can I ask where are you going on your honeymoon? Or is that a closely guarded secret?

I hope you have a wonderful day on Friday and can't wait to see your dress! Have you seen the William and Kate movie and if so what did you think of it? Grin I haven't seen it yet but am looking forward to watching it!

Congratulations on your engagement and upcoming wedding.

My daughter is called Catherine, aged 4 and completely over the moon that we are about to watch another Catherine marry a Prince.

So, from one Catherine to another:

What was your favorite fairytale growing up? (she likes Cinderella)

Also, against the rules I know, what is your favorite colour? (she likes turquoise)

We wish you very well and can't wait to celebrate your marriage,

R

Welcome Catherine. Smile

My daughter shares your name and she is overwhelmed by excitement about Friday. Grin

Also, thank-you for what you and William have done for St Andrews: it is known as the capital of romance these days! My brother and SIL met there, as did my colleague and her husband. Grin

Have a wonderful day on Friday.

I just wanted to say good luck and I hope the day is all you could want it to be (even with heads of state, a thousand people you've not met before and it being televised across the World). I expect you'll have a bloody good knees up afterwards though.

I won't be watching but I will be having a picnic in the park, with wine, so thank you for the day off. I may even whip up some bunting.

Hi Kate.

Which of the many (and some very odd) wedding memorabilia items is your favourite? Have you bought any or been given any?! Did you vote in the MN poll?

Congratulations and good luck on Friday!
