Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

Eek so sorry everyone who's cross - we meant this to be a fun spoof chat with our very own MNetter Kate who's coming on a bit later, but think we didn't quite ham it up enough. We are duly chastised and deeply sorry and will be self flagellating on the hour, every hour. Is there anything else we could do to atone? (Don't spose crown smileys would help?)

How come you corrected the rumour on Twitter at least 15 mins before coming onto this thread? Could it possible be because the publicity and extra hits is great for your business? Could that have been the real motivation behind this "joke"?

No honest gov - we didn't have a traffic thought in our heads when we conceived this, it was only a question of what the heck can we do that's fun for the royal wedding (and not the same as everyone else). A MN webchat is our thing and we happily had a mnetter who has some form as a great fake kate. But hands up, we didn't execute it ideally - really didn't mean for people to con folks.

Ooh, and Tbe Daily Mail will have a headline "Mumsnet- The Backlash", and Justine will have to grovel in a very shamefaced fashion and they'll call her something mean and criticise her outfit.

Eek - really was meant to be a joke/gag for us all to enjoy. Unfortunately we didn't get the execution quite right but it certainly wasn't meant to take the piss out of anyone.
