Mumsnet webchats

STOP PRESS! Live pre-wedding webchat with our very own Kate Middleton, TODAY at 1pm

Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

Wow - well done HQ!

Kate - did you and Will watch the dreadful film of your courtship, if yes, how accurate was it?

Also, did you get to pick your own first dance song? (and what is it?)

Suspending disbelief in order to post a question...

How did you manage to end up being Catherine with a 'C' and Kate with a 'K'?

(asking because I always thought I was the only one and it confuses people mightily Grin)

Also, my son has drawn you a picture of your wedding. If I send it to the Palace, will you get it? :)

Hello Kate (or should it be Catherinbe? Confused)

Do you think you will be able to hold onto any sense of normality (of your pre - William life) now that you are marrying a prince? That's meant in the nicest possible way of course!

Good luck for Friday and try not to get the giggles at the altar like I did.

Hi Catherine, good luck on Friday, I hope you can find time to enjoy some of it.

My DD (4) wants to know if you have space for another bridesmaid - she has been practicing & thinks she is something of an expert ;)

I'd like to know if you have any particular charities or causes you plan to get involved with after your marriage?

Kate,
Wishing you all the best for Friday!

What part of the day are you most looking forward to, and/or most dreading? (Having your own fly past must be fairly cool ....)

Hello Catherine- I hope you have a brilliant day - I am fretting on the guests behalf about the loos- if they are at W Abbey from 8 ish they'll be dying for a wee-I know I would find it hugely anxiety-making ! Is this something you will be worrying about -(or will you be too excited about the whole thing ? )

Actually this is your first solo interview isn't it - (still can't quite believe it's true????)

My ds (8) is very interested in what your new title will be and if you will like being a princess? He would love it if you answered this.

Wow! I could be waaaaaay more excited about this than the actual wedding. I dislike intensely all the royal ceremony and everything about royalty (the noun not the actual members of...although her FIL to be Hmm...)

The only comment I've made about it all has been negative but even the anti royalists I know are "probably going to watch the wedding" so I might be forced to join in in preference to ostracising myself.

So, Kate, sell it to me!

I have loads of questions actually, and it's probably my secret inner fascination coming out - a relief because it would make me normal like all the other Queen lovers.

Kate, have any of your friends dared you to do anything naughty like make bunny fingers over the bridesmaids' heads in the photos or wearing a peephole bra underneath your dress and right raunchy suspenders, or trumping quietly at inappropriate moments, or sneaking rude words into sentences in a way that the older generation wouldn't notice (I recommend the Urban dictionary for this - esp. 'dragonbutter')?

How much say do you have in things on the day - can you choose the puddings and the disco music? Are you allowed a disco? If you are allowed a disco are you allowed songs which aren't the radio edit version?

What do you think of your second cousin who's a hairdresser - she's nothing like you is she? She seemed nice though. How come you didn't invite any of the more rogueish members of the Middleton side of the family? Some of them have made weird poems about you, you know.

If you changed your mind on the day, would you even dare to not turn up? That would be mortifying wouldn't it? This was just a hypothetically pondering question by the way. I have to say though 'that'd learn 'im' even though you reckon him splitting up with you was a good thing. It's never a good thing, when you don't want to split up, come on!

Are you going to try and stay a bit regular - I don't mean in the roughage sense, I mean in the not turning into a royal weirdo sense. I think your accent is just the right side of RP and I notice you don't do any weird coy demuring alongside William. That's good. The more 'Wife Swap couple' styling the better, like when you almost said William was a crap cook and you had to finsih off your own dinner.

Have a nice day and happy marriage. :)

DD1 (4) says

'Kate you are so beautiful and nice, has your wedding cake got flowers on it that you can eat?'

She can't wait to watch your wedding!

Congrats, Kate! Understand you are a lurker but would love to see you post as well. If you had to do your first post, which topic are you likely to choose and what would the question be to us MNers? (Don't be shy to choose the 'pregnancy' topic by the way!
