Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

Aitch, I think by that point a lot of posters had realised it was a fake, but were still playing along hoping it would be funny

Kate's going to say "Thank you for having me, it's been lovely chatting" in a minute.

CaveMum · 26/04/2011 13:57

I'm still waiting for [kitten] and [tiara]

[taps foot in an impatient fashion]

LadyCornyofSilk I thought it was brilliantly executed and the Archbishop of Canterbury looked terribly, terribly real. We are not planning any Michael Jackson tributes for the wedding though they do look great fun when we see them on Youtube.

Incidentally aren't you my aunt?

BitOfFun · 26/04/2011 13:59

To be fair, Aitch, I don't think she's ever spoken in public, has she, so she might actually say that kind of thing. What what.

spazza1 · 26/04/2011 13:59

Good Luck Kate, my two daughters (4 and 3) and I are enthralled with it all, we're ever so pleased for you, and your big day....
For the road ahead, keep sane and don't take let any of the pressure touch that bubble of yours, be strong, you can do it!
all the best S
x

ZacharyQuack · 26/04/2011 14:00

spazza, the road ahead this particular Kate is back to her cubicle to finish the filing.

LadyCornyOfSilk · 26/04/2011 14:00

yes I am Kate and I'm still waiting for my invitation Hmm

MissKateMiddleton · 26/04/2011 14:00

I agree with Zach! Wink

Well thanks very much for having me on here. I thank you all for your interest and wish you all lots of fun on Friday. And I leave you with this thought goodbye

orangina · 26/04/2011 14:01

Grin zachary

GypsyMoth · 26/04/2011 14:01

Aitch....she wasnt due til 1pm,most people realised mnhq had got the name ready for later and were messing......has happened on other webchats!!

Fififi · 26/04/2011 14:01

Oh come on guys, to be a successful spoof it has to be realistic and not obviously fake. If we'd stopped to think how totally unlikely is it that Kate would have a spare hour at all this close to the day and even if she did that she'd choose to come on a MUMSNET webchat with no forward knowledge of the questions. As I said on an earlier post she's got the scullery maids to talk to and the corgis to walk if she's at a loss as to what to do.....

And for any journalists who think we're the fuckwits, then they'd better get deleting their twitter history because there were tweets and emails flying around between news desks checking up on the story...

I do wonder though why Fakey Katie hasn't been a little funnier and irreverential now she's here. Polite watie Katie style answers aren't really very amusing...

ZacharyQuack · 26/04/2011 14:01

Is Justine screeching at Darren to get a move on with that bloody kitten icon?

BitOfFun · 26/04/2011 14:01

Great, now here's a mole with a dubious username to distract us all...

JustineMumsnet · 26/04/2011 14:01

@Bucharest

That hole you're digging is just getting deeper Justine.
Must be the longest hour you've ever had on here.

Think I've just about had worse Smile.

GitAwfMayLend · 26/04/2011 14:02

If it had been blatantly a spoof we would have joined in and had a larf.

As it was you have had the PM on here bfore, that's a pretty amazing coup for a website like this, so as unlikely as it was a lot of people genuinely believed it.

And you haven't helped matters by having fucking Alan Partridge pretend to be Kate M in the middle of it all (sorry, mate, but funny you aint)

transferbalance · 26/04/2011 14:02

this will be forever referred to as 'FakeKateGate'

AitchTwoOh · 26/04/2011 14:02

aaw, it's just some poor MN staffer trying her best up there at the Towers, stop being meanies. Wink

there were only 45 mins before they outed themselves with that first post... you know what they say... if you don't read the whole thread... (actually what is it they say?) gist is, it's tough tits if you don't read the thread i think. Grin i think some of you are taking this surprisingly seriously. but then i have just been invited to the only street party in scotland so wonders will never cease. Grin

LouMou · 26/04/2011 14:03

I don't think it was interesting or amusing enough to reach gate status?

LadyCornyOfSilk · 26/04/2011 14:03

well I enjoyed it anyway

lionheart · 26/04/2011 14:04

Oh come on, it wasn't meant to be malicious, just a spoof. There's only so much humble pie you can expect someone to eat in one go.

ZacharyQuack · 26/04/2011 14:04

See ya Kate, bet you won't be up for anymore practical jokes for a while Grin

DontdoitKatie · 26/04/2011 14:05

Just goes to show how much faith us Mumsnetters have in Mumsnet. We truly believe that Justine can get KM in here for an hour in the middle of her wedding preparations. Mumsnet has superpowers.

GitAwfMayLend · 26/04/2011 14:06

I will now never know what hair products KM uses

JustineMumsnet · 26/04/2011 14:06

@MissKateMiddleton

I agree with Zach! Wink

Well thanks very much for having me on here. I thank you all for your interest and wish you all lots of fun on Friday. And I leave you with this thought goodbye

And thank you very much MissKateMiddleton for being a trooper and tres regal too.
