Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

I was going to post some nice comment about the wedding and then clicked to this page. Shame on you MNHQ - go into "time out" immedietely.

thebestisyettocome · 26/04/2011 12:55

Lol at all the people trying to be really cool about it now. That's the online equivalent of pretending you were about to start running when in actual fact you'd tripped up.

I'm quite happy to say the whole thing was a stupid trick and not done tongue in cheek enough to make it obviously a spoof. Shows a certain degree of contempt for us tbh.

ViolaTricolor · 26/04/2011 12:55

I also find it quite funny. The Daily Mail might secretly be quite pleased that MNers turn out to have such a strong royalist streak.

buttonmoon78 · 26/04/2011 12:55

Oh. Ok. That'll teach me to read first and last pages of threads.

Nasty people.

IslaValargeone · 26/04/2011 12:55

This would be a good time for any celebrity members here to to out yourselves and let us have an impromtu webchat, and let us get all giddy and excited again.

Article in Daily Express

Potentiall Hugely Embarassing

In yesterday's spoof webchat, Mumsnet's Justine admits that 'there were not enough safeguards in place'.

One mumsnetter made a reference to a disgusting sex act (which we cnnot explain in a family newspaper) which was not spotted and removed immediately. If Kate Middleton had seen this disgusting term, she would have googled it, with potentially devastating and hurtful consequences 3 days before the wedding.

It is well recognised that Princess Diana [ insert HUGE pic of Di here] was affected by levels of stress in the run up to her wedding. Is it possible that Kate could have begun a downward slide into depression and self harm, on finding out such revolting practices on what is supposed to be the UK's premier parenting site.

Yesterady a tear stained Justine (sporting an unexplained black eye) explained that Mumsnet is a site for adults, by adults, and that she is not respnsible for individual posters comments. She would not confirm a rumour that post midnight on Friday nights there are regualy threads discussing doggiong and deviant sexual antics.

StealthyKissBeartrayal · 26/04/2011 12:56

contempt? really? I took it at face value and am happy to admit it. But I don't think it's a huge conspiracy or that I look a fool. There are lots of people who must take themselves very seriously on this thread

felicity10 · 26/04/2011 12:56

And there was me thinking we were going to be able to chat to an almost princess. Oh well, will have to wait until my princess wakes from her nap!

'Spose it is a little funny, but after all, what will she be able to answer - can't tell us about the dress! I do want to know what products she uses on her hair though, mind you, I'd need a hairdresser to follow me around all day!

glastocat · 26/04/2011 12:57

I can't believe people are crying and getting upset over this! It was a not very funny joke FFS!

StealthyKissBeartrayal · 26/04/2011 12:57

Thanks GOML.

Hello Catherine,

My 5 year old daughter, India and her friends are so excited about your wedding, they're dressing up in wedding dresses (communion dresses from e bay!) and having a party on friday!

India would like to know ' Are all your best friends coming to your wedding?

Best Wishes from us xxxx

MarioandLuigi · 26/04/2011 12:59

Did MNHQ change the title of the thread because as soon as I read it I thought it was a jokey webchat with the poster who is called katemiddleton/katiemiddleton?

OeufaBrain · 26/04/2011 12:59

I hope you have a fantastic day.
Did your mother and HRH get together to discuss what they were wearing and whether the outfits would clash? Grin

Do you secretly buy all the tacky souvenir items for fun?
