Hello. We're extremely honoured (and just a little bit over-excited) to announce that royal bride-to-be Kate Middleton is coming to MNHQ for a webchat today at 1pm.

A while back, we put in a formal request for Kate to take part in a Mumsnet webchat (nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that) but, truth be told, we weren't that hopeful, given her other pressing engagements this week.

But then, this morning, the Buckingham Palace Press Office rang to say Miss Middleton had some time this lunchtime between her last dress fitting and her first palace-balcony-etiquette briefing - and would be delighted to drop in and chat to Mumsnetters. Apparently, she's been lurking on Mumsnet quite a lot recently and has been finding the Bridezilla discussions a real eye opener. Shock

So, quick, please post your (suitably deferential) questions for Miss Middleton here - and join us for our very first royal webchat at 1pm.

It was a joke and last time I looked this is a site for parents not kids, MN didn't tell you to get your kids to ask a question.

NotShortImHotCrossBunSized · 26/04/2011 12:48

Oh come on have you lot never made a mistake or had a joke backfire?!

I think it's quite funny. Lighten up and smile Grin

friedeggs · 26/04/2011 12:48

what charities are close to your heart and will you become patron of any?

StealthyKissBeartrayal · 26/04/2011 12:48

tis I!!
My earlier post where I said I was called Kate too was a cunning double bluff.
Now, who wants to ask a question first?

happymole · 26/04/2011 12:48

Justine

PinotGrigioBlush found some newborn kittens and is handraising them.

Not sure how to link............

BitOfFun · 26/04/2011 12:48

Shall we write their article for them and save them the bother?

The website for uppity women who have long fancied themselves as more intellectual and politically-influential than your average forum user was forced into an embarrassing climbdown yesterday (from their 4x4 in their aspirational Boden outfits), when callous Mumsnet bosses, who probably aren't as thin as they used to be, cruelly dashed the dreams of thousands of little children who shouldn't be on the foul-mouthed site anyway by faking a web chat visit from our future Queen, Kate Middleton. Now we will point and laugh loudly because we have always hated them but wish as many people read our papers and it serves them jolly well right.

Psammead · 26/04/2011 12:49

Stop asking questions, dear mumsnetters! Tis a wind-up.

Cringing for MNHQ now.

This too shall pass and what-not.

GitAwfMayLend · 26/04/2011 12:50

Mumset you have made us look like right wankers.

That is the last time i am misguidedly nice. How fucking embarassing Blush

Pinotgrig's kittens. Pinot has a menagerie of animals and children, she is looking after strays and paying the vet bills (vet won't do it for cost, is charging 100%).

There are several people on the cat thread in classics who are looking into paying the vets bills - would be a good idea if you could help with this and send a crate of Krug to the MN meetup at the end of the month Grin

LadyCornyOfSilk · 26/04/2011 12:50

is this going into classics then?

GypsyMoth · 26/04/2011 12:50

bout says it all bof!!

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 26/04/2011 12:50

YOU MADE BABY JESUS CRY MNHQ.

Hope you are proud of yourselves.

ZacharyQuack · 26/04/2011 12:50

Justine, Pinot's kittens are a thread in Classics. Long story short, Pinot found a cat with three newborn kittens in her garden, mama cat took off and Pinot is hand rearing the kittens. One kitten sadly died, but the other 2 have just opened their eyes.

Go on, do it. You could get wee Mumsnet tags for their collars and they could become the MN mascots.

We'd need a [kitten] emoticon, though. With festive variations.

MarshaBrady · 26/04/2011 12:50

lol Libra

LadyCornyOfSilk · 26/04/2011 12:51

we were all so polite as well.

WincyEtNightie · 26/04/2011 12:51

BOF Grin Grin [tiaragrin]

CaveMum · 26/04/2011 12:51

I'm more shocked that MNHQ don't know about the kittens Shock Shock Shock!

More here

[another vote for: cake smiley, tiara/crown smiley, and (why the hell not) a kitten one too] Grin

daily telegraph blog cut and pasted below:

11.58 So, after some first-class investigative work (or "mucking about on Twitter") from the Telegraph's consumer correspondent Harry Wallop, we can reveal that the Mumsnet Kate Middleton Live Webchat was, in fact, a joke.
@hwallop: @mumsnettowers claimed live webchat w/ Kate Middleton. 2hrs later: "Sorry, was a joke". Site's meant to be reputable.
To Mumsnet's credit, in response to Harry's claim that their site is meant to be "reputable", they say: "really?"

MackerelOfFact · 26/04/2011 12:51

Boo, hiss, MNHQ. Trolling your own sodding webchats!

I guess the David Cameron and Gordon Brown were just your mates Dave and Mr Brown from your local pony/yachting club or something then. Hmm

StealthyKissBeartrayal · 26/04/2011 12:52

well i'm hanging round until 13.02, don't know about you lot
Kate, will you sign my profile?

BitOfFun · 26/04/2011 12:53

orangina · 26/04/2011 12:53

(I'm w forkful.....)

StealthyKissBeartrayal · 26/04/2011 12:53

PMSL at "really?"

buttonmoon78 · 26/04/2011 12:54

Good afternoon, Catherine. I hope that Friday goes perfectly. You'll look sensational!

Given the de-mystifying and tabloid serialisation of the Royal Family in recent years, you must be the least envied princess-to-be ever as we now all know that the Royal Family don't live in a fairy tale. Do you feel that you have been given enough training to 'cope' with your new role?

I guess it's a stupid question as you certainly seem to be carrying everything off with aplomb!

Just a warning - never, ever appear again with your hand over your stomach. It'll set the tabloid bells clanging!
