I've just heard that Adrian the returning officer is about to announce the results of the Playmobil election......

Norman thanks you - he has just got up and put the kettle on. Today he will give serious thought to his cabinet.

Currently he is thinking teabags, cups, spare kettle....

Meanwhile in Playmoland, the coastguard is investigating reports of a car having gone over the edge of Sofa Cliff.

Right, Norman would like some help. We need to decide on which posts should exist in the Playmoland cabinet. They will be similar to the UK cabinet, but not exactly the same. Then Norman will allocate the posts to suitable people.

Norman knows he can rely on Mumsnetters for some useful advice - any suggestions gratefully received!

Meanwhile ds has decided that Norman needs a policeman to stand outside his portakabin residence. Ds suggested that the address should be "10 Upping Street".

I am still awaiting an answer to my question on the traditional construction/System X controversy. I think this will be one of the first issues the new administration will have to deal with.

Another is whether more laws are needed on gun control.

A diversity issue which has been ignored in this election is the Playmobil123 community. They don't seem to be very heavily represented in this new government.

Norman says that as a builder, he is strongly in favour of System X. It makes building soooo much easier.

Ds loves system X too - he is always re-arranging his buildings!

Most of the guns around here seem to owned by the police - do you think we need more control in that area? Norman may have to consult Michael on that one.

As far as under-representation of 123 goes, I'm afraid there are very few 123 residents in our Playmoland . We do have a couple up in the bathroom, but they are children/animals and therefore unable to take an active part in government. However, Norman says that if anyone would like to send any 123 adults this way, he would be happy to include some in his government.

Now about cabinet jobs - Norman was thinking that we need a Chancellor of the Exchequer, Foreign Secretary, Home Secretary, and some ministers for Health, Education, the Environment, Trade & Industry, Transport and Justice. Any other ideas gratefully received.

ahem. Playmobils are German - their first drink is BEER, not tea. If you doubt this, remember that the workmen in the first ever Playmobil set, actually had a crate of beer along with their tools.

Well, Norman is not averse to a bottle of beer, but he has been here so long he has become Anglicized! So tea is his favourite beverage.

PMSL at this thread. Brilliant. How did I miss the voting??

And the pics........ genius.

I heart Norman. I note he can water ski and drink tea at the same time. What else can he do whilst having a cuppa, I wonder. Is he married????

My DS has now decided that we need an election - but it is a whole room election, so equal opportunities for all. The Playmobil dragon is standing as a candidate for the Playmo consituency, and given that all lifeforms apparently get votes, I would say he is a shoo-in against a female knight, a roman centurion and a pirate. The only interesting question is where the police block vote is likely to go. I am not sure whether the cuddly animals are a single constituency or are going to get sub-divided, but there is a badger hand puppet running for PM and making all sorts of rash spending commitments, which he is apparently looking to DS to fund.

We have a 123 racing car driver and a boat person - they find it hard to make their opinions known as they can't raise (or indeed move in any way) their hands.

sethstarkaddersmum · 08/05/2010 11:45

the gun problem is among the pirate community, SMTB. They have loads. It's ok for you living in your sheltered crime-free bubble of builders and beach patrol PCSO-types - in our area where there are lots of pirates the proliferation of gun crime is a real problem and it is in danger of spreading to previous law-abiding Nativity and Hansel and Gretel and fairy families

We have a 123 granny (who may have been stolen from nursery) and she would like to get involved in government. She has been a loyal Norman supporter all her life but she thinks she heard him call her a bigot during the election campaign when she was making perfectly innocent comments about all the Happyland people who have moved in here recently.

Stealth - what party does the dragon represent? Your election sounds interesting!

Headless - Norman can do many things while drinking a cup of tea. In fact he rarely puts his cup down.

He isn't married - he lives in his portakabin with his mates Brian, Len and Ken (all builders) and Michael the beach policeman.

Sethsmum, we don't appear to have any pirates here. We have quite a few robbers who keep the police busy, but most of the time they aren't armed.

We used to have some Happyland people but they got given away when ds outgrew them emigrated.

Minister for TeaDrinking
Chancellor of the Duchy of Happyland
First Lord of the Admiralty (good one for Bossy Ross?)

Report
SoMuchToBits · 08/05/2010 14:53

We had Bossy Ross down as a possible candidate for Home Secretary, but we may reconsider. We were also thinking of a minister for beverages (tea-drinking only could be construed as being beverage-ist).

Perhaps a minister for biscuits would be a good idea. And one for kettles....

Well, I think Norman would love Dame Edna Beverage!

He is hoping to announce his cabinet soon.....
