My DH says he wants to take me up the Oxo tower for Valentine's Day...

...but I must admit, I have my reservations.
It's not something he has ever suggested before. And we've been married for 15 years.
I'm quite adventurous and open to new experiences but really, I have to say this has taken me by surprise.
Has anyone else been taken up the Oxo tower? Was it an enjoyable experience? Would you recommend it?

I'm jealous now - my dh never took me up the OXO tower when we lived down south, and I don't know what the Glaswegian equivalent is.

Perhaps I should ask the neighbours?

PortofinosDHwillDieIfHeForgets · 13/02/2009 12:58

Up the gorbals?

Stayingsunnygirl · 13/02/2009 13:03

That's quite rough, apparently.

JackBauer · 13/02/2009 13:19

Please stop, DD and DH are asleep on sofa and I am snorting laughter.

Up Sauchiehall Street? DH went there recently but he found it too cold and draughty (it was after I had DS1).

PortofinosDHwillDieIfHeForgets · 13/02/2009 14:18

Aw thanks! And thanks to you molly for starting it. I had had wine last night! Even DH was laughing.

BarcodeZebra · 13/02/2009 20:48

DW and I have discussed me taking her up the OXO Tower on occasions but we always conclude that I'm not sure I really fancy it once I've had a good look at the menu and she doesn't think she can stretch to it.

Let us know how it goes.

PortofinosDHwillDieIfHeForgets · 13/02/2009 21:15

Barcode - Myabe she's worried that YOU can't stretch to it?

PuzzleRocks · 13/02/2009 21:21

This is why I love Mumsnet.

merryberry · 13/02/2009 22:07

I would certainly recommend being taken up the Oxo Tower, as long as you're still allowed to have a ciggie on the balcony after the main course

PortofinosDHwillDieIfHeForgets · 13/02/2009 22:12

Amen merryberry! I certainly had one afterwards. The view is very nice!

pollywobbledoodle · 13/02/2009 22:32

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 13/02/2009 22:49

My dh once had a girlfriend who was rather 'well worn' and he thought he was taking her up the Gherkin but turns out he ended up at the Oxo Tower. Not a nice experience, you want to know where you're heading of an evening don't you?

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 13/02/2009 23:03

aaarg! I've killed it, threadkiller, threadkiller.

ThumbLoveWitch · 13/02/2009 23:06

pmsl hangingbelly - especially at the introduction of another priapic London edifice into the thread!
