My DH says he wants to take me up the Oxo tower for Valentine's Day...

...but I must admit, I have my reservations.
It's not something he has ever suggested before. And we've been married for 15 years.
I'm quite adventurous and open to new experiences but really, I have to say this has taken me by surprise.
Has anyone else been taken up the Oxo tower? Was it an enjoyable experience? Would you recommend it?

ROFL!

But if for real is landmark building, with nice views, v corporate entertainment style place though.

Surely a story you can dine out on too - the day DH took me up the OXO tower

nigglewiggle · 12/02/2009 20:55

When I was taken up the Oxo Tower, there was a man up there playing a guitar!

mollyroger · 12/02/2009 21:00

you mean, it's a Restaurant???

Holy fricking spiders, I have just given him such a rant about why did it always have to about him? and why couldn't I be the one to take him up the oxo tower, if it meant that much to him.
He told me he'd love that....

Fiona bruce on the TV has just said " I never thought baout going up THAT side" and DH can't understand why I have the giggles...

SparkyHeartLust · 12/02/2009 21:05

No, but I've been taken up the Eye

mollyroger · 12/02/2009 21:08

well, this is such a relief!
I was seriously upset when I rang my mother and said dh wanted to take me up the tower for valentine's day...and she said: ''How fantastic, you lucky thing! I've always wanted to be taken up the oxo tower but your father's too tight-fisted. But if you're complaining, your dh can take me up the oxo tower any time he likes...''

I didn't much like being taken up the Eye. I insisted on waiting til it was dark. I was surprised at the size of the queue!

mollyroger · 12/02/2009 21:11

That doesn't sound at all healthy.

I agree - there was a bit where it gets right to the very top, as high as it can go - and I came all over all funny and had to sit down!

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 12/02/2009 21:16

I threw up on myself after my DH did that...

muppetgirl · 12/02/2009 21:17

I got my camera nicked as my brother had 'drinks' there just after he got married on the millenium wheel (then onto one of those 'duck' tour things that drives you into the thames)

Was an interesting wedding...

BarcodeZebra · 12/02/2009 21:21

Is he paying? Or will you be going dutch?

redsatinsheetsagainstmynibnabs · 12/02/2009 21:23

DP often talks about going up the OXO tower, but don't think i'd ever be able to stretch to that, things are tight at the mo. Arf.

PortofinosDHwillDieIfHeForgets · 12/02/2009 21:24

If DH planned on taking me up anywhere on Valentine's Day I would certainly expect him to pay! He usually does anyway!

PortofinosDHwillDieIfHeForgets · 12/02/2009 21:26

redsatin, maybe you could offer a more accessible alternative?

redsatinsheetsagainstmynibnabs · 12/02/2009 21:34

Thinking about it, he could take me there but would have to watch what i eat. Would be awful if i ate something spicey, would ruin his whole experience

Phatty · 12/02/2009 21:41

Where is the oxo tower? I have never heard of it!

I have to admit I had a nice bit of pork up the Oxo Tower once. Not sure whose it was. I think there are a few of them that take turns.

tumtumtetum · 12/02/2009 21:44

ROFL @ redsatin

PortofinosDHwillDieIfHeForgets · 12/02/2009 21:45

Phatty - Ssshh you're spoiling the mood! (It's on the South Bank, not far from the Festival hall etc etc, terence Conran etc)
