Honest question. Is this site a religious site?

It seems to me there's a large amount of Christian posts. I've also noticed a fair amount of disapproval for other religions.

I am an atheist. I don't really want to be part of a christian site posing as a parenting site.

So is this actually a Christian place?

Garibaldi is the biscuit of choice for the intellectually curious liberal humanist with a hint of protestantism in their background.

morningpaper · 27/01/2009 12:12

I like the jammy dodgers with the cream inside

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 12:13

No that was just a joke about Opus Dei. The rest is all true though.

CatIsSleepy · 27/01/2009 12:13

no-one really likes garibaldis though surely?

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 12:14

Bourbon usually high church anglican.

ruty · 27/01/2009 12:14

We used to get Happy Faces after church. Do they still do them? Actually, perhaps my whole nostalgic longing for ritual and prayer stems from my desire for Happy Faces....

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 12:14

Cat, you are right - that is where the protestantism comes in - there is a hint of self-denial about the garibaldi.

georgimama · 27/01/2009 12:15

Mmm, pretty accurate. I have a wild streak of Methodist in me too.

PlainOldPeachy · 27/01/2009 12:15

Gawd no! i even re-edit my posts to check I haven't done my usual (Christaian) blessing / praying for you in the wrong places

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 12:15

morning paper, that is a very post-Vatican II sort of biscuit.

Threadworm · 27/01/2009 12:15

MP: jammy dodgers are like those weird statues in catholic churches where Jesus is showing his (red and sticky) open wound. So I'd def say catholic.

PlainOldPeachy · 27/01/2009 12:16

yummmm garibaldi (Must b why I am a Christian Universalist instead of anything anyone ever heard of LOL)

georgimama · 27/01/2009 12:17

I love jammy dodgers, but they must have cream and the little heart shaped holes in them. I think Crawfords make the proper ones.

ruty · 27/01/2009 12:17

i reckon UD is DominiConnor on valium...

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 12:18

Happy faces are not really appropriate biscuits for church, except on certain feast days. I suspect, ruty, that it was your intuitive understanding that something was not right with the post-mass refreshments that caused you to question your faith in the first place.

Threadworm · 27/01/2009 12:19

Peachy, "faith bar Messianic Judaism" sounds like a kind of bisCuit.

"If you like a lot of chutzpah on your biscuit join our club"

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 12:19

Threadworm - you are absolutely right about the jammy dodgers. I meant pre-Vatican II of course.

PlainOldPeachy · 27/01/2009 12:19

pmsl @ Ruty

WilfSell · 27/01/2009 12:21

actually was baptised catholic, but hippy parents broke out and discovered woodcraft folk before i could make it to confirmation. so the rest pretty much right

[forgive one handedtyping - ill child under arm...]

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 12:24

damn - of course, the catholic/hippy woodcraft nexus. How could I have made such an elementary mistake.

KayHarkerIsNotAnAuthority · 27/01/2009 12:27

Oh, I dunno, makes a wierd kind of sense. In my third delivery, they did send a canary up to check for poisonous gas.

IorekByrnison · 27/01/2009 12:28

Kay

FriarKewcumber · 27/01/2009 12:32

I just checked active convos (which IME is what most people use to navigate the site unless they are looking for something specific).

Out of the 50 active convo's at the mometn this one is the only one which has a religious theme.

It's a pretty rubbish religious site by stealth if that MNHQ's cunning plan.

I'm an evangelical atheist btw - where are all these religious threads?

morningpaper · 27/01/2009 12:34

"Happy faces are not really appropriate biscuits for church"

I would agree with this

Do you go to a very low church? Do you have an overhead projector?
