Just for fun

saw on Facebook a post saying that men think about the Roman Empire every day. The woman asked her husband and he said this was true and that he thinks about it daily. The comments was people asking their husbands how often they think about the Roman Empire with some very funny responses 😂

So, I’ll start .., I’ve just asked DH and he said “at least twice a week, why?”

would love to hear other Responses to this random question

“how often do you think about the Roman Empire?”

DH says 'a couple of times a month' without any context as to why I was asking.

I'm surprised it's that much, but then it's a lot less than me as I'm in the midst of a history obsession. Out with Netflix, in with Dan Snow's History Hit Blush

MarjoriefromHemelHempstead · 12/09/2023 20:46

MCIV times a week I reckon 🤣🤣🤣

LizardLizard · 12/09/2023 20:47

He thinks about it XII times per day.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 12/09/2023 20:47

Why? What did the Romans ever do for us?

LemonLymanDotCom · 12/09/2023 20:47

My ex had a several books on it piled on his bedside cabinet, so I’d say pretty often… If only when he got out of, or into, bed.

KohlaParasaurus · 12/09/2023 20:47

Less often than I do. When I asked him, he said, "Was Gladiator set in the Roman Empire? And was it the one that had the soundtrack that was based on The Planet Suite? I haven't listened to that for years. I wonder if we've still got the CD." History's not really his thing.

He looked confused, said “never”, then asked if it was a Dementia test.

Thepeopleversuswork · 12/09/2023 20:48

I would bet my house that my partner has only ever thought about the Roman Empire in the context of the Life of Brian. (He's not here to ask).

crackofdoom · 12/09/2023 20:48

Not having a DH, I will answer for myself. About once a week on average, although there was a massive spike around April, when we actually went to Rome.

Is this a remake of I, Claudius people are watching, or is it being repeated in all its kitsch 1970s glory?

bigbadbarry · 12/09/2023 20:48

He says weekly. I’m surprised it is not more - we live in Chester so we see people dressed as Romans more often than most

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 12/09/2023 20:48

Dad - very often. Listed all the things he thinks about it.
Husband - monthly
Brother - thought about it today and thinks about it weekly.

WingedHermes · 12/09/2023 20:49

One a week apparently!

iolaus · 12/09/2023 20:49

I asked and he said 'not that often, about once a week'

Why? What did the Romans ever do for us?

….but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

I hoped this was some kind of Monty python joke..but maybe not?! :o

soundsys · 12/09/2023 20:51

"Rarely" says DH

Fartooold · 12/09/2023 20:51

I know this is off piste, but my DH used to assert that he could think nothing.

Nothing. His brain could be completely empty of any thought.

This can't be true, surely? He always looked a bit vacant, but still...

phewgal · 12/09/2023 20:51

'Very infrequently'

Marched up and down their straight roads in short skirts and strappy sandals showing off their tanned muscly legs. 👀

Ginmonkeyagain · 12/09/2023 20:52

In our house it is me that thinks about Romans a lot. Probably once a week or so.

AhNowTed · 12/09/2023 20:53

Just asked DH and shocked to learn 20 times a week.

But then it sort of makes sense. Loads of things lead back to Rome.. politics especially, Latin derivatives, town names, all sorts

sashagabadon · 12/09/2023 20:53

It’s the original. It’s on I player and is fantastic. John hurt as Caligula is bonkers.
I’m loving it!

IncompleteSenten · 12/09/2023 20:53

Brilliant!
