To ask your "glitch in the matrix" moment?

Hello,

I had a glitch in the matrix last night whilst dying my hair, I took the nozzle off the bottle and put it on the sink and then I mixed the dye etc and when I went to get the nozzle it was gone, I moved everything off the sink, looked on the floor but it was gone so I managed without and then once the hair dye was on I found the nozzle on the sink on top of something I'd moved and I swear it wasn't there before! Not a major event but it was a bit weird.

Do you have any glitch in the matrix stories? (Basically unexplained events)

When I was about 11 I had a pet rabbit. We kept it in a rabbit hutch on the roof terrace belonging to our apartment, and I used to let it out to hop around.

One day I came up to see it and it was gone. Nowhere to be seen. Searched the hutch and the entire roof terrace. It hadn't been left out of the hutch without supervision but the only possible explanation was that it had got out and maybe slid down a drainpipe (the roof terrace itself was walled so no gaps).

About two weeks later it was back! Slightly injured. It's a complete mystery to me still. The apartments were in a forest so highly unlikely a neighbour found it and returned it.

I think I'm a bit psychic, I often get bad feelings just before something happens. When I was younger there were 2 distinct occasions when I remember bursting into years for no reason, then just after the phone ringing to tell us a family member had died. As I got older I remember a feeling of dread when my Mum told me my sister-in-law was pregnant. A few weeks later she had a miscarriage, she'd had 2 healthy babies before so no history to make anyone worry. Unfortunately I don't get feelings about good things, only bad.
My Mum and I regular phone each other at the same time, or just as we're thinking "oh I should phone".

My glitch in the matrix thing though is that through my time at uni I had an unconscious habit of humming the theme tune to The Archers. I've never really listened to The Archers then so I'm not sure why I hummed it and I wasn't aware, but it freaked my flat mates out as they realised I only ever did it at times when The Archers would be on (I couldn't even say when it was on.)
They decided I must be picking up radio waves through my fillings.... Except I don't have any. 😂

@VinylCafe

Many years ago when the DC were babies, their tiny socks would go missing in the washing machine - usually one of a pair. We were moving house 7 years later and I was doing one last load of laundry. When I was taking the wet clothes out of the machine, there were the missing baby socks! At first I thought they had gotten stuck somewhere in the machine for 7 years, then I remembered we got rid of the old washer and bought a new one the year before.
I don't know why but this is the creepiest thing I've read. How? Why? Who ???

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

When my brother and I were young, we bent to a small petting farm type place. We bought a postcard while there.

We still have it. We are in the picture on it...

The first time I visited my brother after he'd moved in with his girlfriend (that he then went on to marry a few years later) I was confused as to why there was a picture of me on his fridge from when I was about 7, with my little sister who was a toddler. We have no pictures left from our childhood, as they were all destroyed in a flood.

The picture was of his girlfriend and her sister. Confused

My SIL and I don't look at all alike as adults, and I'm greatly older than my brother, who never saw me or our sister at those ages, nor has he seen any photos as they'd all gone by the time he was born.

Even the decor in the house was like ours. It's v v odd.

When I first met my now DH, we were teenagers. We chatted in a group of 3, me, him and a mutual friend. After him and the friend had gone a thought popped into my head, "I'm going to marry him".
Well, 1 year later we started dating, 7 years later we moved in together, 9 years later we had our first DC and got engaged and 11 years after first meeting and having that thought, we got married!

One morning I woke up to find my watch had stopped during the night. I lived with my boyfriend at the time, and his had stopped too. At exactly the same time.

gluenotsoup · 12/01/2022 19:14

I’ve thought of a few more. I posted up above about trying to conceive, and the pregnancy I spoke about has a dream connected to it. Much too early to know I was pregnant I had a very vivid dream that I was in a dinghy going down a river. The water currents got faster and faster, and sucked me into a whirlpool vortex, pulling me in and down to the side. I woke up feeling it was significant, and now think that was implantation and my subconscious knew. I also had water based dream at would have been implantation time with one of my other children. I googled it, and apparently it is a thing.

Slightly more matrix related now is that I had 2 miscarriages quite close together. My garden is very long, with lots of trees and when I was feeling low about it, but healing, I was in the garden just sitting, and there was something different at one point in the shape and colour of the trees. It was lit differently than I have seen it before or since, and a had a huge sense of peace, and knew without a doubt that was where my babies were. Close by, but moved on, like a gateway. It reminded me of another time that I saw something similar and that was when my dad died. In the room in the hospital, there was a window which I had looked out of many times. But after he died, the view was different. There was a gateway, like a small country 5 bar gate, lit again softly with an unusual glow. I knew that’s where he was going. I could even sort of see him approaching it with excited curiosity, wanting to explore beyond it. Maybe it was just grief, or my brain trying to cope, but I don’t think so.

A week ago, Driving down a long stretch of Country road, One other person in my car in the passenger seat. It was very dark outside, late at night. I have been driving this road twice a day for twenty years and know it like the back of my hand, There are NO turn offs on this road anywhere, Until you get to the farm that is at the end of the road, then becomes semi rural leading into the Village where I live.

Nobody was behind us on the road, There was one car in front of us, and had been for about two miles, No other cars on the road at all, Very rural area.

Passenger randomly screamed at me 'what the F*ck just happened'

The car in front of us was gone, it did not turn off anywhere, it did not leave the Road, it did not crash and end up in a field, it did not lift off and take flight, it was literally there and then it just wasn't, blaring headlights went along with it and turned to complete darkness.

I'm glad there was someone else there to see it too.

One of very many strange things that have happened to me, I could possibly write a book at this point!

JudgeJ · 12/01/2022 19:19
@VinylCafe my DD's socks are always getting stuck in the rubber bit at the front of the drum. There's often one of a pair missing and I usually find them there, sopping wet as they don't get spun.

It's ALWAYS baby socks. Nothing else!
When OH was still alive I used to often find lots of money, including the folding sort, in the rubber seal of the washing machine. Oddly I still check it though I always check my pockets before washing clothes.

AngelinaFibres · 12/01/2022 19:19

My ex husband always had motorbikes. There is a code amongst bikers, apparently, that you mustn't pass a fellow biker who has broken down without offering to help. It was raining. He was on his way back home and the road was long and straight with high walls either side.He saw a biker by the side of the road but it was wet so he rode on. Hundred yards later his conscience got the better of him. He turned and went back. No biker, no bike. No one had passed him in either direction. He rode the other way to see if the biker was far ahead. No one. He is not a woooo person. It totally freaked him out

ArdeaCinerea · 12/01/2022 19:23

I was about 6, spending summer with my gran in the countryside. We were at the house of one of her friends who had a daughter known in the village as a “crazy lady”; this lady spent all day on a sofa dozing off, watching tv, talking to herself etc. she never went out. If you talked to her she was very sweet and kind.

I was bored while my grandma chatted with her friend so I went to watch TV next to the “crazy lady”. At some point she was staring up at the ceiling. I looked up to where she was looking and I didn’t see anything interesting, it was just the ceiling… then suddenly I saw something, as if the ceiling was a big sheet of fabric or paper and it was torn, through the tear you could see there was something fluttering and black on the other side. I saw this only for a second and then it was gone, normal ceiling again. The lady noticed I was scared and she smiled and said “don’t worry about it.”

I started crying and screaming, everyone tried to comfort me but it was so bad we had to go home. It was the only time in my life to this day that I’ve had…a hallucination, I guess? I still can’t explain it. Later, my grandma remembered the event, but at the time I didn't tell her why I’d freaked out, and she didn’t believe that my memory of the “ceiling thing” was real; she thought my brain must’ve filled in the blanks with a scary thing afterwards. Obviously nobody compared "notes" with the "crazy lady" as nobody listened to anything she said, and she is now long dead.

Lots but pretty much all explained by ADHD and object permanence issues.
Exactly me too!

Growing up, I woke up in a fright and all I could remember was seeing a witch in a tracksuit with a black hat on her head. I mentioned it to my Mum the following morning who looked at me quite shocked and said that my Dad had a dream about a witch in a tracksuit too!

catgirl1976 · 12/01/2022 19:29

My fish vanished.

It was not in the filter, under any gravel or anywhere else the tank, dead or alive.

It could not have jumped out of the tank as it is fully enclosed with a lid and the cat cannot open the lid (and if he could I doubt he could close it again after himself.)

I took everything out of the tank and took the filter apart. I searched around the tank just in case he had got out (which would have been impossible)

He was just gone. Vanished. Into thin air (or water in this case)

Gone.

In an abusive relationship for 11 years, married a year before I left. Morning of my wedding I dreamed I was with a dark haired man with a beard (opposite to exH) and a son. Still got married, his abuse increased and I left. Got a random Facebook friend request from a job recruiter. Got me 2 Job interviews in nursing homes. First one I dislike but second, I felt a pull towards. Started working there. Met another nurse, dark hair and beard. We dated, now together 3 years, have a 2 year old son together, with brown hair and big blue eyes, exactly like my dream Smile

OddSocksSparklyDocsandDungaree · 12/01/2022 19:30

@catgirl1976 had another fish eaten it?

whatacarryon2018 · 12/01/2022 19:32

@chimpandzee
I also had the same thing! I had my make up bag at work, brought it home and I took a lip balm out of it in the evening. It was gone in the morning. Never found it again.

Strangest one though was when I was 14, I went to a party with some friends. We got ready at mine and then I locked the door and we got the bus. I had to call another friend from the bus and at the time, I was the only one with a mobile. Later, her dad came to collect us to take us home. It was then I realised that I'd left my bag. I was a bit worked up because it had my house key and btcellnet (you know the one) phone in it.
Anyway, i got home and had to knock to get my mum to let me in. When I went into my room, the bag was on my bed, phone and keys inside it. I've never worked it out.

Echobelly · 12/01/2022 19:33

I guess my most significant one might be about my last cat.

Anyway, my last cat was old when DS arrived and TBH I didn't get to pay her a lot of attention after he was born. I was very fond of her but I'm not one of those people who's ever seen my cat as a fur baby or felt I had a tremendous bond with them. One night she hopped up onto the bed, which was unusual for her, and she looked me in the eye (also unusual) and I knew, I just knew, she was communicating to me that the end of her life was imminent.

Her health had been not great for a while, but there was no indication of anything getting worse that day - she had still been eating, drinking, jumping and climbing the fence, so I couldn't have picked up anything from her behaviour earlier.

The next morning I heard an odd noise from my wardrobe and she was curled up in there breathing her last. I was glad I didn't have to take her to be put to sleep and that she was mobile and not unwell until the very end.

AngelinaFibres · 12/01/2022 19:35

When my brothers and I were small children we shared a bedroom. Oldest brother and I had bunk beds. Youngest brother was in a bed near the door. It was dark and we were all in bed chatting about stuff. A book bounced across the floor on one of its corners from one side of the room to the other. My oldest brother saw it at the same time as I did. We screamed the place down . My mum came and said it wasnt real and we were imagining things because we were tired and we should go to sleep. I know I saw it and so did my brother.

catgirl1976 · 12/01/2022 19:35

@OddSocksSparklyDocsandDungaree I don't think so. There other fish but only a couple and they are small - much smaller than the fish that vanished.

It's possible he died and they all ate him but they must have devoured every millimeter of him in less than an hour because he was there when I fed him, I went upstairs and got a shower and pottered and then I came down and he was gone. I don't think he could have died and been eaten that quickly. Although it is possible...maybe...

CatkinToadflax · 12/01/2022 19:35

DS1 was born extremely prematurely and was in NICU for a long time. The first time my brother visited him, he brought a tiny Mothercare bunny, who he introduced to his new nephew as Clive and said that Clive would look after him. Clive was so small that he fitted perfectly in the incubator and was often used by the nurses to angle DS1’s tubes and wires. Eventually DS and Clive came home. DS loved Clive in a way that has no words, and Clive more or less lived clenched in DS’s hand.

One night, shortly before DS’s 5th birthday, he and Clive went to bed together. The next morning he was gone and we never saw him again. The night he vanished was the same night that a very dear friend’s toddler son died. We have always said that Clive knew that DS was doing well and didn’t really need him any more, and was called away to a higher purpose.

TwittleBee · 12/01/2022 19:39

Had one on way home today. It was as though I drove under the same bridge twice and saw the same dead deer at the side of the road twice (on a straight stretch of road). Its probably just my brain remembering Monday's drive home

StormBaby · 12/01/2022 19:40

@zurala I can’t wear watches either. They only last about a week. I once picked up an antique watch at a market that didn’t work and the hands just started spinning around!

I had a time slip a few years ago. There is a shortcut near us that consists of a really really long tight alleyway between two gardens, also alongside a church, with super high fences. I can’t even explain how looooong it is. It’s a good ten minute walk in a dead straight line. I did have a pic on my phone but it’s gone. One second I was at the start and then a second later I was at the end. It definitely confused me. I wasn’t daydreaming or distracted.
