To ask your "glitch in the matrix" moment?

Hello,

I had a glitch in the matrix last night whilst dying my hair, I took the nozzle off the bottle and put it on the sink and then I mixed the dye etc and when I went to get the nozzle it was gone, I moved everything off the sink, looked on the floor but it was gone so I managed without and then once the hair dye was on I found the nozzle on the sink on top of something I'd moved and I swear it wasn't there before! Not a major event but it was a bit weird.

Do you have any glitch in the matrix stories? (Basically unexplained events)

I went meteor spotting when I was a child with my dad and his astronomy group possibly during the Persieds or something. We were sat in a circle at night, in deckchairs but in sleeping bags, everyone noting what happened in their section of sky above us. There was a fireball and we all went "wow!" as no one could have missed that. But then there was a second fireball, only a bit smaller - amazing colours and bigger than my hand in the sky - that no one else apparently saw. Absolutely no one believed me! I was not a tiny child, probably a young teen and it was definitely there - clear as anything but no one else saw it despite us all staring at the sky!

@NChgforMatrixThread

Years ago I was at working talking to a colleague. He was a nice guy, but too young for me and not my type. In any event, he was leaving to move abroad the following month. I was divorced and 40 years old.

Whilst we were talking, I got what I can only describe as a vivid image in my mind. It was of myself and this colleague, we were married, with 2 children and living in a very hot place.

Fast forward 5 years and all of this came true. He stayed in England, a few months later we dated, then we got married and had 2 children when I was in my mid-forties. Then out of the blue he was offered a job in the middle east and we all moved there.

I know it's a coincidence, but it's really strange.

I did a very similar experience with my now husband. Worked with he, but I was with someone, he is younger than me and not from the UK. Talking to him one day and had a “ vision “ of him walking along carrying a blonde child & holding my hand. Not long after we got together and within 3 years we married and had our child.

I swear the sideboard in our hallway is a portal to another realm. Stuff gets put there and disappears within seconds

CheshireKitten123 · 12/01/2022 18:05

@AngelinaFibres

Read an article about this sort if thing once. There was a woman who had a poltergeist in her house. Stuff would disappear. She found that if she said in a loud voice "I really need my car keys back please" and then left the house, when she came back the thing would be on the kitchen table ....every time. Very odd.
When I was first working I rented one floor of a big Victorian house, done out as a self-contained flat, with another girl in Manchester.

Stuff was always going missing, especially car keys.

For example I would leave my car keys on the mantlepiece in the lounge at night and they had gone in the morning. (A good job I had a spare set in my handbag in the bedroom !)

When I got into bed one night they were in the bed.
Another time when I came back from work they were on the rug in front of the fire.

It caused some friction as we were both wondering if the other was playing pranks.

After a while we both realised we had a poltergeist. Soon after that I got a promotion and moved so I don't know what happened.

Love this thread! Very interesting, wish I had something to add!

In the 90s when I was in my early twenties, I was visiting my parents’ house. They’d gone to bed and I was the only one awake, sitting in the lounge reading. My parents had a thing about making sure all plugs were turned off before they went to bed as they were worried about fires. It was very quiet and suddenly the TV came on by itself. I thought they must have forgotten to switch it off properly and that it was on ‘standby’, reasoning that an electrical surge must have made it turn on. When I went over to check, not only was the plug switched off, but the telly was totally unplugged from the wall. I still can’t come up with an explanation for it!

Jetstream · 12/01/2022 18:13

In my flat on my own with TV on. Earlier I removed the spoon being used as an aerial and replaced it with a wire coat hanger. Next thing the spoon flies across the room of it’s own accord.
In my own room woke one morning to find my plants had fallen inwards onto a small chest of drawers. No draught and windows opened outwards.

Snally82 · 12/01/2022 18:18

Years ago I dropped a necklace down the back of our bed, weeks later it appeared on my bedside table. The bed at the time was a waterbed so you couldn’t move it at all. No explanation for the necklaces reappearance at all

Inbetweenn · 12/01/2022 18:20

Ds went through a phase of running away from me when he was 2, and one day slipped my hand and bolted out onto the road. There was a car coming that came to a sudden stop about a foot past where he was. Except that then the road was completely empty. And ds was standing in the middle staring down the road looking confused. That in itself was odd because every other time he ran he would just keep going.

The other incident was when he was little, I was painting his bedroom and he was in the hallway in his playpen where he could see me. While I had my back turned for a moment he climbed out for the first time, and toddled over and I had this stupid impulse to close the door before he could touch the wet paint. But I caught his fingers in the door and he started screaming. But when I opened the door, he was fine and giggling and definitely not looking like a child who had screamed a moment before.

I’m sure that mine were a combination of untreated post partum anxiety and a very vivid imagination but at the time it absolutely felt like a time shift.

Walking down the street with housemates discussing computer software and McAfee. Someone says “isn’t that someone from Cats” we say, no that McAfferty. Then we say, is Cats still going?

Turn the corner….and driving past is a huge lorry from Cats the Musical ‘Now on Tour’!!

katseyes7 · 12/01/2022 18:30

I've lived in this house for nearly seven years.
One night l woke up in the wee small hours, l don't know if l actually did wake up, if this woke me up, or if l dreamed it.
There was a column of very bright, electric blue light next to my bed on the left hand side. It was about a foot in diameter and from the floor to the ceiling. I vaguely remember feeling some kind of 'energy', there may have been a faint humming or buzzing noise, but it didn't disturb me in any way at all.
The odd thing is, vivid and weird as it was, l didn't feel the need to investigate it or put the light on. I turned over and went back to sleep! Nothing like that has ever happened before or since. I've still no idea if l dreamed it or not.

KatherineofGaunt · 12/01/2022 18:31

One is an obvious glitch in the Matrix. I was on the phone, standing on a street corner. I was there about 30 minutes. After a while, a man walked past with two boys, right to left, one boy wearing a red jumper and jumping along the road markings painted on the tarmac. About 5 minutes later, I swear, the exact same man and two boys walked past me, right to left, with the boy in red jumping on the road markings. I actually said at the time to the person on the phone that I'd just experienced a glitch.

The other time is similar to a pp. My husband and I had been trying to conceive for over 2 years. We'd had a miscarriage and each month was torture when my period came. One night we were, ahem, actually having sex and I just had a moment of absolute clarity and knew that we'd "made a baby". Two weeks' later I found out I was pregnant. I'd never had that feeling before, not even when conceiving the first time. And this time I actually got a baby and he's now 3.

Well that’s just freaky! I’m cooking tea whilst reading this thread and I find the oven is switched off at the wall. I berate the teenager and she looks at me like I’ve gone mental. Serve her tea, carry on cooking the quiche whilst still reading this thread, step into another room for 10 seconds and I come back and the oven is off at the wall again. WTAF. It’s a big thick heavy switch, not easily knocked!!

Jetstream · 12/01/2022 18:39

Not as much any more, sometimes I ‘d just think of someone and then meet them in person.
Recently I bought a new rake for the garden. Whilst talking to my sister about it she said she knew exactly which one it was, without me describing it. She had been reading a gardening magazine that recommended the same rake. Same sister and I often think of each other before one of us ring.

Lauraloveshimback · 12/01/2022 18:44

Some of these are giving me the chills!

Soakitup37 · 12/01/2022 18:45

I’ve got loads of these sort of things and I love them. The one that comes to mind was recently. I was out for a walk with my son who’s 7 and my best friend, We weren’t talking just strolling along and I had come over really sick and headachey and I said to myself in my head, Ugh don’t feel great, I feel sick and my head hurts.

I looked down at my son and he looked at me and he said out loud I feel sick and my head hurts too mummy.

I looked at my friend to ask did I just say that out loud? And she looked puzzled and said you didn’t say anything! My son and I often think or feel the same thing and he tells me exactly what I was just thinking in my head. He’s my kindred spirit!

DoctorManhattan · 12/01/2022 18:45

Years back in my late teens I went to a seaside town with my then girlfriend, we weren’t drinking or anything but just had some fun in arcade then got a chippy and ate it outside. It was getting dark and we were feeling pretty full up after eating so thought we would head towards the sea and lie down on the grass verge beside it for a while to chill out. It was an extremely clear evening and we had a full view of all the stars in the sky. Then we saw this small light moving quickly across the sky . . . not fast enough to be a shooting star but definitely faster than a typical passenger aeroplane or helicopter.

I remember casually remarking that it must an RAF jet or something given it’s speed, and just as I finished the sentence, it stopped abruptly in the sky, waited 2-3 secs, then shot off again at a totally different angle. And the strange thing was, it didn’t accelerate as such; it just seemed to go from standstill to full speed instantly.

It was only afterwards as we tried to work out what it was that we realised there had been zero noise also, even though you would always hear something if a jet was overhead.

DoctorManhattan · 12/01/2022 18:49

My mother and I also seem to share some slight telepathic link even though we are 80 miles apart. I could fill a book with the number of times where we have rung each other at exactly the same time (we don’t have regular calls, always random) and we have been listening to exactly the same song or cooking the same meal or just thinking about the same subject. Been like that all our lives.

Concestor · 12/01/2022 18:50

This stuff happens to me all the time! A few examples:

When I was a teenager things used to just disappear in my room all the time and turn up again weeks later. But one time I put my bracelets on the shelf and in the morning one of them was gone. Totally disappeared and it never turned up.

In the same house but a different room when I was younger, I was regularly woken by either the sound of everything on my bookcase falling over (yet nothing actually fell), a really cold wind passing around the house and going through you, and once I was in bed and the bed went down and the covers tightened round me like when someone sits on your bed, but no one was there.

Also in that house, I was once the only person home, it was a big old house, detached, and suddenly there was a huge clatter from the kitchen like all the saucepans had somehow fallen over. I everybody plucked up courage to go look and... Nothing.

Everywhere I've ever lived I have stuff student disappear even when it's impossible. DH comments on it and thinks I'm spooky!

I also get gut feelings/premonitions. I've was to do with a community group I'm in. Some new leaders started and I immediately had the thought "they are going to take me off my duties". Later, they did in a really weird and nasty way (too putting to go into detail).

The horrible thing is my boss is leaving this month and her new deputy who hasn't started yet is going to take her role. As soon as I was told I had the same thought "she's going to get rid of me". I'm pretty sure that's going to happen.

I also break technology without doing anything. I send computers and mobile phones haywire, they glitch and break. Every place I've ever worked the IT department has got really frustrated as the computers I use have to be thrown away as they can't be fixed.

My mum can't wear watches as they stop or go fast or slow on her.

I have so many of these stories!

Callipygion · 12/01/2022 18:50

@chimpandzee

A few years ago at home I misplaced a full make up bag. It was a bag I never took anywhere with me and was quite bulky. For example, if I was going to the office or going out for the evening the only thing I ever take with me is lipstick. I never shower at the gym, I come home and do it here. So it's not normal for me to carry lots of make up around. It stayed on my dressing table and I would decant bits in to a smaller bag if I was going away and wanted to take some make up with me. It was full of really nice products, some quite new Charlotte Tilbury items and Bobbi Brown things that were probably about £200 worth. I put it on the table, then went out for the day. When I got back it was nowhere to be found. I turned the house upside down, went through the bin bags, blamed the DC and DP, pulled contents out of all the drawers and cupboards. Looked under beds, in beds, in places it literally wouldn't fit. To this day I still wonder what happened to it. I've never lost anything else like that. Have never lost my keys, or my phone, or my handbag. I never lose anything ever!!!
Shit! This made my heart leap as I have had something extremely similar happen (apart from the posh brands, mine were Boots No7 or supermarket 🙂). My make up bag just turned up on my bedside chest of drawers about a month or so later, after I’d purchased new stuff. As pristine as the day it went missing (so definitely not my daughter taking it to play with.)It has always puzzled me.

I once had a silver necklace with a little pendant on. I tried to put it on one day, but it became all knotted up. I fiddled with it for as long as I could, but it just seemed to get worse. I felt sad and put it back into its box.

A few weeks later I was going through the drawer and saw the box, so thought I'd try to sort the chain out once and for all. I opened the box and there was the necklace, no knots or tangles, all fine and ready to wear Confused

ilovesushi · 12/01/2022 18:52

One halloween a good while back, I was coming back from a fancy dress party with friends and we passed the Golden Hind in Southwark. My friend suggested we climb up to the crows nest, which felt like an excellent idea at the time. We shimmied over the gate/ fencing and ran about on the deck. Before climbing the barrier I took off my ring which had a lot of sentimental value and put it in a zipped pocket/ purse for safe keeping.

Later in the taxi home I went to put it on again and couldn't find it. At home I had a better look and still couldn't see it. Through the week I kept going through my bag, clothes, laundry basket, pockets in search. I had given up and was feeling sad about losing it when I saw a glint on the floor right in front of me in the hallway and it was there. So odd. I had passed that spot so many times.

I had another weird ring situation. I threw a different ring across the room in frustration, realised I was being silly and went to retrieve it. Vanished! Searched and searched. When we had the room redecorated including taking up carpets, replacing radiators, I asked the decorators to keep an eye out but nothing. It entered another realm. Maybe with all the baby socks.

Concestor · 12/01/2022 18:53

Oh and once I saw a really weird multicoloured star pulsing in the sky for about ten minutes. It was really big compared to other stars, stuck in one spot in the sky and a weird colour just getting bigger and smaller on the spot. I had a really weird feeling watching it looks I was being watched back so I pulled the curtains and hid!

DahliaMacNamara · 12/01/2022 18:56

One evening last summer, I wanted an early night, so took the dog outside for a wee, but he wanted to play ball. We had a game for about ten minutes, then went inside. About 30 seconds later DH walked in through the same door, wondering where I'd been. Playing outside with the dog, I explained. No, he insisted, I was out there playing with the dog. You weren't there.
It's a standard small enclosed rectangle of lawn, nowhere to hide or not be seen. Only one dog, who refused to take sides on the matter.

sueelleker · 12/01/2022 19:01

My mum can't wear watches as they stop or go fast or slow on her.
My sister had this as a teenager- with wind-up watches; I'll have to ask her if it still happens. Maybe not with battery watches?
