To ask your "glitch in the matrix" moment?

Hello,

I had a glitch in the matrix last night whilst dying my hair, I took the nozzle off the bottle and put it on the sink and then I mixed the dye etc and when I went to get the nozzle it was gone, I moved everything off the sink, looked on the floor but it was gone so I managed without and then once the hair dye was on I found the nozzle on the sink on top of something I'd moved and I swear it wasn't there before! Not a major event but it was a bit weird.

Do you have any glitch in the matrix stories? (Basically unexplained events)

I have always had a recurring dream. It is of a Bavarian looking town but it is surrounded by desert. In my dream I am during the day time out side the edges of town looking on to the backs of buildings or in the town with everyone going about their lives or it is evening time and I am in the town square where there is a cafe and I sit at one of the metal tables and there is music and dancing.

I have had this dream on and off since I was little. I told my mother about this strange town I would regularly dream about and was told I had a fanciful imagination.

A few years ago after I once again dreamed of the town I googled if such a place existed or if there was a logical explanation of why I kept dreaming about this strange town

It made me feel really weird that a place like I had dreamed about existed many years ago.

I sometimes wonder if our memories are passed down through our dna because I have both the different types of heritage that could place part of my family in that type of area

This is outing me to anyone who has seen my back & knows my choice of pets but still...
I was having a tattoo to commemorate my all my past fancy rats who have given me lots of love of the years.
Think characters like little dogs but you can carry them with you round the house in your jumper & have a really long tail.
We were listening to an 80s playlist on Spotify through my phone & were discussing 'that' Inxs video...
My phone was next to me on the table, I hadn't touched it, then 'Need You Tonight' came on...

I didn't experience this but my dad swears blind this happened to me.

I was intubated and in a coma for 5 days a few years back after life saving surgery. (To help my lungs heal) my dad came and sat by my bed in ICU everyday and just spoke to me.

Obviously in a coma you're conked. Non responsive just completely unconscious with a machine breathing for you.

He said on day 3 he was stoking my hair. He stopped all for 15 seconds and I literally lifted my arm up grabbed his arm and put it back on my head 🤣 he said he panicked and shouted (the nurse was literally turned around at this point as I always had someone next to my bed whether a nurse or doctor')

She never believed him!

Also I can vividly remember some of the outfits he wore, some one way conversations he had with me. Conversations he had with the doctors when I was asleep.

Not sure if a glitch in the matrix or I was just super subconsciously aware!

This story happened to my great grandfather in a remote part of Ireland. He was walking to the cattle byre at night to check on the cows, and suddenly a 7ft tall man, dressed in what my grandfather described as glass like clothing just appeared gliding beside him. At the byre, he turned to my grandfather and said " feed them well" and vanished into thin air. My grandfather always put it down to the fair folk, but to me it sounds more like an alien encounter.

Woobeedoo · 15/01/2022 08:37

Just remembered another weird one and this is very recent.

We’ve not long moved house and my child has started a new primary school. At the end of his first day he tells me excitedly that “James from my old school is in my class!”. After questioning him a lot it transpires that it is 100% true and James was indeed in his class but left at the end of year 1.

We’ve moved over 200miles away. Where we used to live were 5 primary schools. Where we live now are more schools. The chances of ‘James’ parents moving 200miles, to the same area as us and going to the same school and same class is a very very bizarre coincidence.

Asumpasana · 15/01/2022 08:53

@Joni234 did you go to Uni of Leicester? That has a tall building and a park one side and cemetery the other

As for my personal experiences, I have a few but now I try to think of them it's difficult! The ones I remember may be more woo than glitchy perhaps but here goes

  1. When I was younger I used to read a ton of magazines. As a young teen it was things like Mizz and Shout (any fellow early 00s teens remember them?!). Anyway, one day when I was about 12 I was walking through the canteen at school and in front if my eyes flashed an image of a magazine double page spread. I can still remember it now. The background was green, there was a blond model in the centre of the spread and it was a horoscope article. It was there for a second or two then disappeared. I bought a magazine a day or 2 later and the exact article was in it.
  2. I often have dreams that make no sense at all and they later come true. I struggle to remember full details now but I had one about where I would now. I remember waking up and saying to my partner it's so weird, I dreamt that I was sitting looking at x view out of the window at work while someone told me y thing, but I wasn't at work (as in, when I dreamt it I didn't work there) and I have no idea who the person was. But the weird thing is I don't recognise it at all until the exact scenario plays out and I remember then dream. It's kind of like deja vu, except I remember actually having the dream about it.
  3. I saw a UFO with a friend when I was a teen. We were standing outside bowling having a fag when we saw some strange light in the sky. The best way I can describe it is to imagine you're looking at a building with one light left on in a window. Now remove the building and you just have the "square of light in the window". This was more like a reflective type light though....I actually thought it was the sun glinting off something to begin with, but there was nothing it could have glinted from. Anyway, as we watched the square sort of compressed itself down so it was more like a thin line of light and then just disappeared. It was so weird! My friend swears she saw the same thing
  4. I had the complete collection of Harry Potter books when I lived with my ex. We split up and when I left I was missing one (goblet of fire, if you're interested!). Couldn't find it anywhere, even after I moved and unpacked all my stuff. A couple of years later, in my new house I dropped something while sitting on my bed and when I looked underneath it to grab it, there, so close to the edge it was basically poking out was my missing HP book. Absolutely no idea how that one happened! Also in the same house was a number of spooky goings on. My toddler daughter had a book which played a tune when you opened it at the back page. Book was on her bookshelf when we got ready in the morning but when I returned from dropping her to nursery I opened the front door to hear the tune playing and went up to her room to see it lying open on her bedroom floor. She was a toddler at the time and wasn't allowed, or able to get, upstairs by herself so I don't know how that one happened!
  5. Finally I also have a doppelganger who lives locally to me. Many years ago I went to a friend's house in the evening and he looked very confused and asked what I did to my hair. I had no idea what he was talking about but he said he had seen me earlier and my hair was red but I didn't wave at him when he waved at me! It definitely wasn't me. More recently my neighbour asked me if I had seen her earlier and when I asked where she had been she mentioned a place I hadn't been anywhere near that day. She was also very confused and said it looked like the absolute double of me and she wondered why I hadn't spoken to her. It again was definitely NOT me. I've never met this doppelganger but I would like to see how similar she really is!
Ceramide · 15/01/2022 09:15

Just switched on Radio 4 (Saturday Live) and they're doing a phone-in about this kind of thing

TeddySteady · 15/01/2022 09:32

@Joni234 That’s a really creepy story! Did the funeral attendees have modern clothing?

WeatherwaxOn · 15/01/2022 09:54

May have posted these under a different username in the past. Possibly more 'woo' than matrix glitches, but....

  1. I had a dream about visiting a house. On the upper floor was a long corridor with a door slightly tucked away. When I opened the door it led to a lift space, but one which extended sideways with a mezzanine level. The beams were in a strange almost stacked diamond arrangement.
Months later, we were on holiday and got chatting to a man and his young son (a year or so older than our DC) who were metal detecting on the beach. They invited us to their house for a cup of tea, and to see their dogs. It was about 15 mins drive away. We got to the house and duly had tea, met dogs. We also got a tour of their house as he said it was unusual and we'd like it. Upstairs was a long corridor with a little door on the opposite side to the rooms. He opened it onto a loft, the exact mirror image of the one in my dream.
  1. Coming home late from work on an old overground train with heavy doors between the compartments. My stop was the final one, at the terminus. I was in the carriage behind the drivers cabin, sitting facing the front on the aisle seat of a bank of 6.
This was an 'all stops' train, so as we moved from station to station the number of passengers thinned out. I was reading to pass the time, but very aware of people getting on/off. As we approached thr penultimate station, there were just a few people in the carriage. They all got up to stand by the doors - a few people behind me, and two at the doors in front of me. We got to the station, the doors opened and everyone except one man got off. I noticed the doors beeping, closing and him still standing there and assumed he had got up too early and like me wanted wanted the final stop. I didn't want to stare, although a bit uncomfortable about just 2 of us in the carriage, so turned back to my book. At the terminus, I gathered up my stuff and got off. Then realised I had not passed anyone in doing so. There was nobody standing by the doors. Looked up and down the platform and there was one other passenger, a woman, walking toward me from the back end of the train.

My friend bought my daughter some gorgeous pyjamas from Florida, I wash my daughters clothes separate to ours and do it all in one day so nothing ever gets separated. Anyway I remember washing these pyjamas and putting them on the washing line and then into the basket ready to be put away. When I came to put the clothes in the drawers, the pants from these pyjamas were gone. Could not find them anywhere. Weeks later I was walking upstairs and these pyjama pants caught my eye on the hallway floor but I had my hands full so didn’t pick them up. I was home alone, when I came back downstairs they were gone again. This was 18 months ago and I have never seen them again. I always found it really strange!

minny80 · 15/01/2022 10:41

Right, this just happened and reminded me of this thread Grin
On the 30th December I went to London to meet friends via train. Once arrived at the restaurant I noticed I couldn't find the earbuds case in my bag. For context, I have a reasonably small Kipling handbag ( 20x20cm) with a few pockets. On the way back I tried to track my steps to see if I've dropped the case anywhere, even went back to the platform I took the initial train from to see if I could find it. The day after I searched the bag and every pocket and eventually gave up, wrote an email to the rail lost property and forgot about it. This morning I am sitting in Costa waiting for my son to finish his club. Went into my bag to retrieve the new earphones I've bought and found the case I thought I've lost, in the main pocket of the bag!!!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 15/01/2022 10:47

Literally just had the 'missing object reappearing' thing.

One of the Christmas Lego boxes, which I couldn't find when packing up the Christmas Lego 2 weeks ago, has just appeared under the dining table...

Perime · 15/01/2022 10:50

@Ploppy1322

I've got a few but one of the strangest was when I was sitting on my bed, alone in the house and went to put some eyedrops in. I'd tilted my head and was just squeezing the bottle to get a drop in my eye when I heard a loud NO (in my head not with my ears but I heard it and it was loud) and my hand jerked away from my face (nothing touched me and I didn't consciously move it). Looking at the bottle, I'd been about to put eardrops in my eye which would have been nasty as they were to clear ear wax.
Wish that had happened to me - I bloody did put the ear wax stuff in thinking it was eye drops, stung like mad. My Guardian Angel must have been busy.
Maves · 15/01/2022 11:43

I have actually got loads but the most chilling one a few years ago my mum rang me and just said "Sarah s died" (not real name) I assumed she meant our family member who was young for and healthy for a split second until she said no my next door neighbour.
I've never forgotten that and thought how daft I was for assuming...fast foward to a couple of months ago mum rings me in tears..."Sarah's died" the family member had actually tragically died.
It was strange as it was like I'd already had that phone all years before.

minmooch · 15/01/2022 12:06

Not a glitch for me but for an elderly gentleman.

I was sitting in a cafe on my own with a coffee. An elderly gentleman with a younger woman sat on another table fairly close. They both kept looking over at me. Eventually the woman came over and said that her father was convinced I was his (long passed) wife from when they were much younger. He had dementia. She asked would I mind if he could say hello. I joined them at their table and he held my hand and talked about some stories from when they first met and talked to me like I was his wife.

They left not long after, her father was calm and happy, and the daughter thanked me for playing along.

It was a very lovely moment really.

JaneJeffer · 15/01/2022 12:32

That was very kind @minmooch. Poor man.

I remember being at a house with two staircases,a grand one in the hallway and a small one from the kitchen,I was only allowed to use the “servant”stairs. My parents are adamant we never have had relatives or friends with this set up and we were never there

zingally · 15/01/2022 13:29

I had my first every experience of this about 2 weeks ago!

I had an empty squash bottle on the side in the kitchen. I was heading out to the supermarket, so I grabbed the bottle, and dropped it in our recycling bin outside on my way to the car. I very clearly remembered taking the bottle to the bin, because the bin in the other side of the house to where the car is, so I had to make a special trip.

When I returned from the supermarket, the bottle was back on the kitchen side, exactly as before.

What the hell?!?

zingally · 15/01/2022 13:40

Oh, I just remembered one from when I was a kid - maybe 12 or 13.

It was not long before my birthday, and my mum had taken me to the next town over to get some clothes. I had chosen a baseball style top. A pinkish body section, and purple sleeves, and a large number on the front.
We got it home and mum said she would put it away for my birthday, which was in a few weeks.

On the day of my birthday, I opened my presents, but the top wasn't amongst them. I asked mum about it, but she was confused and denied all knowledge! I distinctly remember the top, and being excited to wear it.

At the time, I assumed mum had just misplaced it, and it would appear in due course. But it never did. Even when my parents packed up the house to move a few years later, the top was never found.

Cantthinkofausername2022 · 15/01/2022 13:50

A couple of years ago I was on the train passing through the countryside
Suddenly I saw an elderly man in one of the fields he was walking along a gravel path but the path and surrounding area of the field including him was devoid of any colour and was completely in black and white but I could still see the remainder of the surrounding fields in colour!
It was the weirdest thing and completely freaked me out.
Now to be fair I was quite hungover so I would say my mind wasn’t the sharpest that day Hmm

Is it possible she had to take it back as she needed extra money? Were you struggling at all as a family?
Jewel1968 · 15/01/2022 14:18

I saw a documentary about coincidence once. One story has stuck with me. A tradesman (let's call him John) worked for a small company (it may have been his own company). He worked in lots of different towns in his area doing whatever he did. I think he was a carpenter. Anyway one day he was walking down a street in a town where he had a job and there was a phonebox. The phone started to ring as he passed it and for some reason he decided to answer. Anyway it was Doris (name made up) from his office. Doris dealt with accounts. She had some query or other. John stopped Doris and said 'why are you phoning me on this number'. Doris was insistent she had dialled his mobile. John could not persuade her that it was in fact a random phone box on a high Street. Eventually Doris said - ah I actually dialled the payroll number.

I lost my Grandmother during my first pregnancy. I was devastated, I wanted to tell her I was pregnant but she slipped away without me being able to. My daughter who I was pregnant with at the time was born on her birthday.
I lost my lovely dad when he was just 60. When I was pregnant with my third child I used to think “ I’m so sad dad will never know her”. I dreamt about him so much during that pregnancy. My daughter was born on his birthday. I always smile about this coincidence.

@lorrainecleaver

Oh I forgot this, no idea how. Many years ago, when dh and I were newly dating, we booked a supposedly haunted hotel in the Highlands. Too late for dinner, we went out for takeaway food and were caught up behind the most stunning display of marching bagpipers. Took ages for them to clear before we could find a take away but we so enjoyed it. Mist was rolling off the hills, it was dusk, the sound as the pipers faded slowly.

Got back to the hotel bar and told the barman how lucky he was to live among such beauty and musical displays. Much guffawing from the locals at our experience. Seems to be a regular 'spectacle' for the visitors. But it was real!

Also remembered when I was pregnant Damian Rice had just launched, I listened to his CD non stop. Three years later, driving ds back from nursery and the Blowers Daughter comes on the radio. Ds says 'mum, I liked that song, you played it when I was in your tummy lots and lots."

I read this and went cold all over!
