To ask your "glitch in the matrix" moment?

Hello,

I had a glitch in the matrix last night whilst dying my hair, I took the nozzle off the bottle and put it on the sink and then I mixed the dye etc and when I went to get the nozzle it was gone, I moved everything off the sink, looked on the floor but it was gone so I managed without and then once the hair dye was on I found the nozzle on the sink on top of something I'd moved and I swear it wasn't there before! Not a major event but it was a bit weird.

Do you have any glitch in the matrix stories? (Basically unexplained events)

My MIL died suddenly in June 2019, my poor FIL started to decline rapidly after this. He ended up in hospital and passed away in the Dec of 2019, almost exactly 6 months after my MIL died. He had died from a heart attack which was not the reason he was in hospital. We believe he did die of a broken heart, he couldn’t live without her.

My SIL called us early in the morning to let us know he had passed away, but strangely, the night before I had a dreamed that he and my MIL passed me in their car, they both looked at me as they drove past me and away down the road. Extremely vivid. I believe that she waited around for him and this was them leaving on their journey together. Needless to say it gave me shivers when I was then told hours later he had passed away. Was comforted to know they were together again though.

A few things have happened to me. I seem to attract this kind of thing.

The one that sticks with me is,

When I was in my early teens a friend and her family invited me along to Alton Towers.

We had been on the Log Flume and were waiting in the kiosk for our picture to show up.

It took me and my friend a while to find ours... When the photo loaded, my friend was on the ride but in my seat where I should have been was an old lady.

Not just old, but in old clothes from another era.

Sounds hilarious writing this out, but it's true and I think about it all the time.

I saw the "old hag" a few times when growing up - usually when I'm not feeling great.

Shock Did you buy the picture?
Kennykenkencat · 15/01/2022 15:34

Cattenberg yes but until I googled Germanic town in desert I had never heard of such places

I have been having this dream since before I went to school and always the same set of scenes.

It definitely gave me the chills that such places existed. I fully expected to have my Google search come back with pictures of the Ruhr or pictures of the Sahara. Not an actual German town in the desert.

It makes me want to recognise the buildings but I don’t as in my dream they are more wooden and intricate

Badtasteflump · 15/01/2022 15:44

Went on holiday, home alarms set etc. At the time we had a Playmobil chunky plastic playhouse in the playroom (ie big and sturdy). Came home two weeks later. Nothing had been disturbed, everything exactly as it should be apart from the playhouse was in its place but completely upside down, kind of balanced precariously on the chimney and roof. That was about ten years ago now and we have never worked out why or how....

HarrietSchulenberg · 15/01/2022 15:46

@tedimgoingmad I saw something similar fairly nearby around the same time and I don't think we've seen a glitch. I was at the traffic lights at the junction of North Pole Rd and Wood Lane and a troop of horses and a few soldiers crossed in front of me at a full gallop. The lights had to be held while they streamed past. There were gun carriages being pulled by horses too, and although the riders were in dull greens, the leathers and brasses on the harnesses shone even in the fog. The sound of the hooves, iron wheels and clanking harnesses has always stayed with me.
I was told at the time that the Household Cavalry were using temporary stabling in the Maida Vale area while their normal home was being revamped. They used Wormwood Scrubs for exercise everyday while they were there. This would be December 1996 as I'd just started a new job on Wood Lane, and about 7.30/8am. Astounding sight, though, the entire cavalry galloping out of the fog in front of my tiny little Fiesta!

Brilliant thread Smile

Adarajames · 15/01/2022 16:54

I have things like this happening with annoying regularity. Things disappearing from where I put them, and not being able to find despite turning the place upside down, only for them to reappear in the original place days later.
Used to be able to tell people where their list items were, even if I’d never been in their home too.
Way too much deja vue for one person as well. Mostly doesn’t bother me, apart from when things I need there and then vanish, and only reappear later / after I shout for them to come back (and I live alone and it’s not things even the beagle would nick / move!)

Sedai · 15/01/2022 17:05

I love this thread! I honestly have loads of these stories, but a few:

  • my sister died in 2018. She was 21 and it was just horrible. A few weeks had passed and I met two of my friends after work for a glass of wine and catch up. On the way I'm thinking this is so unfair, she should be doing something nice this evening and she's gone. We get to the bar and sit down. There was a man playing gentle sort of modern folksy music and as soon as we sit down he changes it up and plays his cover of Believe by Cher. That was her favourite song. It felt really nice. Even my friend looked at me like that's weird.
  • when I was a young child I had a bed with these four posts and little gold round bits that fastened at the top - a real typical little girls bed, and I had a special bracelet I got for my 8th birthday. One day I lost it. Couldn't find it anywhere, and a thought pops into my head 'it's down the post of my bed' so I unscrewed the top off the post and lo and behold....there's my bracelet.
GoldenOmber · 15/01/2022 17:59

One evening when I was a student, in my room in Halls, waiting for my friends to come round so we could go out to the pub. It was pretty late and dark out by then and I wasn't sure if they were coming or not. Plus I was tired because I'd been up late the night before. So when it got past 10pm and they still weren't there I turned off my light and went to sleep.

Woke up the next morning, daylight, 7am-ish. Thought "oh well" and picked up a book I was partway through and read some more of it. Then thought I'd have another nap before going to get breakfast (7am pretty early in student world after all) and put my book back on the shelf and went back to sleep.

Woke up to the sound of knocking on my door: my friends coming to get me to go the pub. It was still the previous evening and it wasn't even 10pm yet. But my bookmark was still in the book at the point I thought I'd read up to.

I guess some combination of dreaming and altering existing memories when I was tired to fit with the dream or something. But it felt like I'd gone to sleep without saving the game and rebooted it from an earlier point!

InFiveMins · 15/01/2022 18:00

This thread has made me remember this story a poster put on here 7-8 years ago now. It chills me every time I read it:

"In the late 1970s/early 1980's the place to go was TOTS (Talk of The south), which was a Disco in Southend on sea.

We used to go every week.

I started to notice a young man with blond hair. He was always alone and always stood not far from the bar. I would catch his eye and he would stare back but it felt very uncomfortable. He didn't smile back which was very odd as back then I was a gorgeous young thing! ;)

He was there every week and although I was having a riot of a time with my girl friends, I did start to look out for him. No one else appeared to notice him as we were all having such a great time.

He was always dresses the same in shirt and trousers. He wasn't fashionable but he wasn't unfashionable. He was good looking and had a very clear complexion and wavy blond hair.

I chat to anyone but I always had the feeling of being fearful of him and not to approach.

I suppose I just got used to seeing him there.

Fast forward nearly twenty years later and my disco days were long over and my then partner who was in the music business told me that he had to meet someone at the former TOTS. I think there was a name change and instead of a disco it was now a nightclub.

I decided to go with him to see how much it had changed inside.

We got there and off he went to meet this chap, it was only a quick chat.

I strolled around, feeling rather out of place amongst the pretty young things and then wham! Straight in front of me about ten feet away was the boy/man I used to see all of those years ago!

Everything around me seemed to fade away and I could not tear my eyes away from him. He was angry, very angry I could feel his anger and I felt terrified. I was fixed to the spot and I cannot find the words to describe just how petrified I was.

I felt as if I was in grave danger. This young man, perfectly ordinary looking was exactly the same as I'd seen him before. He hasn't aged and his hair and clothes were the same.

All of a sudden, the world started rushing back into view and I could see and hear everything going on around me, I spun around and knew I had to get out of there as soon as I could. Thankfully my now ex had finished with the bloke he had to meet and I tugged on his arm to get us out of there.

I have no idea what or why I saw this young man and why he should be so menacing.

Another poster did suggest that a teenager had been run over and killed nearby but it doesn't explain why this presence would want to scare the crap out of me!

He was so scary because he was so normal looking and whatever it was about him had the power to give off the very strong vibe of anger and danger."

MiniPumpkin · 15/01/2022 19:03

Not really a glitch in matrix I don’t think but I think some people have strong connections, you feel when something isn’t right. I feel this strongly with my dm and dgm. I mean I get the feeling and need to phone them. It’s a gut feeling. Two examples, the first I’ll never forget.

On holiday with dh. Having breakfast that morning on balcony and got a sick to the stomach feeling something wasn’t right at home. Felt the real ache of sadness. Dh was like what’s wrong? I said I don’t know but something isn’t right at home. And yes turns my db was arrested at that time on that morning on suspicion of murder. I think I was in tune with my dms feelings. For context there was nothing was would make me aware of this prior.

Next one. Was working out of town and every time I passed this house I kept thinking that a knew this house, that someone used to live there. Had visions of being in living room by the fireplace. Had a few wines one evening with family and said to my dm about this house, she said my dgm and dgf lived there briefly in late teens, before she was born. My dgf took the fireplace and it’s in my dgm house today .

PantsandBoots · 15/01/2022 19:26

I was out shopping in the town centre and I just "knew" that an acquaintance who I hadnt seen for several years was about to walk out of a dept store. The feeling was do strong so I sat down on the bench directly outside the store and she did actually come out 10 mins later.

To this day, I cant think why it was that person, at that time and that store (considering its a huge mall).

@blubberball

I often get deja vu. Some things that happen or conversations, I feel as though I dreamt about them years ago. I've always had it. It's a very strange feeling.
Same!
girlabouthome · 15/01/2022 20:39

@InFiveMins that is a chilling story.

To those who have asked, I didn't buy the photo. Wish I had. But at the same time glad I didn't.

This "hag" woman I haven't seen touch wood for 10 years.

The last time I saw her I was sleeping at a friend's house, and I woke up all of a sudden petrified and she was stood in the corner of the room SMIRKING at me. That's the only way o can describe it, an evil grimace like she knew something that I didn't. I burst into tears and woke my friend (I remember her being cross at waking her up!)

Whatafielddayfortheheat · 15/01/2022 20:54

I've just remembered another. Around 5 years ago we lived in London but DH and I had been to the home counties to visit family. Driving home in the dark, we came upon a diversion due to roadworks and turned off the main road as directed, along with the flow of traffic. What followed was one of the most weird and unsettling experiences I can remember. Even though the main road had been fairly busy and others had turned off with us, suddenly we were totally alone. The road immediately petered out into a farm track. It was dark but the sky took on this foreboding glow. We passed a burned out car right by the road. There were loads of really steep Skiddy hills. I realise on paper it doesnt sound like nuch, but we both had this overwhelming sense of dread.

My DH was driving and asked me to look on Google maps - but the blue dot said we were still on the main road and I couldn't identify where we were at all. We had to keep going and it was a very tense drive!

Eventually after about 30 minutes we got back onto the main road. We now coincidentally live quite near where we came off the main road and there is nowhere nearby that matches that place. We still talk about it and the incredible fear we both felt!

@Longcovid21

Love this thread.

It's a sad one. But when my lovely 15 year old dog died, I drove him to the vets for cremation.

After I dropped him off I was driving around on my own to get some relief before I went home again to face the kids.

Suddenly on the radio came the lyrics "I wish that I could talk to say goodbye. I remember when we used to go walking in the rain". It felt like the message was coming directly from him. I've googled the lyrics many times but never found the song.

It might have been this. It contains both those lyrics

A colleague once got a wrong number call on her home landline. The weird thing was that the call was intended for someone else we worked with on their home landline and the call was nothing to do with the work connection..

@Joni234 Was this Middlesex Uni and Highgate Cemetery in the late 90s by any chance? It just reminded me of something if it was.......

Concestor · 15/01/2022 21:53

I've had another one happen just today! For Christmas my youngest bought me a recipe book which has been on the floor next to the sofa since then. Today I was tidying up lots of things and gradually working my way round the room. I remember seeing the book but I don't remember moving it, however it's no longer by the sofa and it's not anywhere in the house!
My husband wanted to use it so that's when I realised I hadn't moved it but it's not where it was. We have checked every cupboard and drawer, under the sofa, even emptied the recycling bin, and it's just gone!
I'm hoping it might reappear if I ask out loud before I go to bed. If it does I'll update the thread.

Longcovid21 · 15/01/2022 22:05

@zurala yes I think that was it. Goosebumps. Especially the last line!

@Woobeedoo

This is a long one but I have no explanation for it.

This happened about 10yrs ago. I was driving from my house to a shopping centre and was driving along a motorway. I was doing 70mph in the left and had to change to the middle as the road split. Checked mirrors, motorway totally clear (which was odd in itself) but I still indicated and moved to the middle lane. Cancel indicator and there’s a red coupe type car alongside me in the right hand lane - and I mean matching my speed - it appeared from nowhere and was now moving to it’s left into my lane.

I slowed a little but the car is now really trying to move into my car. I should have braked or sounded my horn but as the road was still totally clear of traffic (just me and the ‘coupe’), I stupidly decided to swerve. Discovered you can’t actually swerve in an old car at 70mph, so I went in to a fish tail skid. The coupe slowed the accelerated and drove off.

I’m frantically trying to control the skid, but it’s impossible. One car passed to my left and I recall seeing the elderly female passenger staring at me open mouthed. The motorway on my side is still devoid of all other traffic.

I eventually lost control of my car, shot across the left lane, hitting the crash barrier nose on at around 60mph.

I’m sitting in the driver seat in stunned silence. I have no injuries and my car has the smallest of dents. It dawns on me I should phone someone to report what’s happened as my car now won’t start.

I look in my wing mirror and the motorway is still totally empty. I reach to the passenger footwell to get my phone and I am aware of a rumbling sound getting louder and louder. I sit up, glance again in my wing mirror and there is a wall of traffic thundering along without a break. We’re talking HGV’s, cement mixers, vans, cars and motorbikes. My car shuddered when the traffic went past with an audible ‘whumph’.

This accident happened on the M1, on a Friday at 11am. There were no other incidents that would have explained the lack of traffic. On a typical day that road is non-stop busy. From the moment I got on the M11 to the few minutes after my accident, it was as if a pause button had been pressed preventing all other traffic on it. So bizarre and I cannot explain it at all.

Wowsers. Not just the pause in traffic, the coupe as well. Who was the old lady in the car that went past?
