To ask your "glitch in the matrix" moment?

Hello,

I had a glitch in the matrix last night whilst dying my hair, I took the nozzle off the bottle and put it on the sink and then I mixed the dye etc and when I went to get the nozzle it was gone, I moved everything off the sink, looked on the floor but it was gone so I managed without and then once the hair dye was on I found the nozzle on the sink on top of something I'd moved and I swear it wasn't there before! Not a major event but it was a bit weird.

Do you have any glitch in the matrix stories? (Basically unexplained events)

Christmas 2010 we were at a relative's house. I was given a pair of gold earrings. I lost them that day and after searching, we eventually figured they'd been thrown out with wrapping rubbish. We checked the rubbish as best we could, but we didn't find them.

October 2021 I was hoovering under my bed and it started rattling. I figured it was just a bit of rubbish. When I emptied the cylinder I saw something shiny. It was the missing earrings. Both of them. We've moved house since. No idea how they got here. Fucking weird!

I have a couple. The first one was over 30 years ago In my early 20s house sharing , there was no central heating or electric shower so you had to put immersion heater on to have a shower. One morning I woke up , put immersion heater on , went downstairs and had breakfast then went to go upstairs and I noticed the back door was open. I then actually woke up and it had all been a dream. So I got up, put immersion heater on and went downstairs for breakfast and fook me the bloody back door was ajar.
The second time was a few years ago at work a month or so after a colleague had left the company. I walked out into the corridor and saw Phil, the bloke who had left, walking down the stairs. I assumed he was visiting, but I joked to my mate "Oh Phil's forgotten he's left and come into work." My mate was like " What the fu*k you on about?" I said that Phil had come downstairs, but she and another colleague assured me that nobody had come down the stairs. I had seen him as clear as day.

Oh thanks for starting this thread! Love this🍿

AllKindsOfWrong · 12/01/2022 22:05

I have two.
The first one was when I went in my bag to get my phone and it wasn't there. I tipped my bag out, which didn't have a lot in it and thoroughly looked through it. The phone had completely disappeared. The next day I opened my bag to put something in it for work, and there was my phone!
There had been no one else in the house or had access to the house.
The second one was my dog disappearing in the house. I'd run a bath and normally he would be straight there drinking the water. I searched absolutely everywhere for him, I even looked in cupboards. Called him, rattled his bag of treats, everything and nothing, no sound, no appearance, nothing.
I went and had my bath and when I got out and dressed, I walked into the lounge and there he was, fast asleep on his bed!
Again, there was no one else in the house, no one had access to the house and all the doors and windows were locked as usual, so it's not like he could even have got out without me knowing.
To this day those two events baffle the life out of me and I still can't quite wrap my head round it all.

I'd assume that you'd had an early morning dream triggered by hearing the back door clicking in the wind, having been left open over night, or by the sound of an interrupted intruder leaving through it?
Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 12/01/2022 22:08

All the time, I also have a lot of deja vu moments, perhaps more than I should... I don’t question it, it will drive you nuts.

@Supertree

I had a kind of 'premonition' as a child and then it came true. I don't actually believe in premonitions so I know there must be some kind of explanation, but I don't know what. I had a dream where my sister and I were playing in the street next to our house as we often did. We were playing with a ball. Then she annoyed me in some way and we ended up having a silly argument and she stropped off and got hit by a car. The next day we were playing next to the house with a ball and the argument we'd had before actually started. I felt kind of sick and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I changed the way that I reacted and just let her have her own way. We carried on happily playing and a few seconds later the same car came round the corner. It really creeped me out but I felt very relieved.
This used to happen to me a lot when I was younger, but more mundane things like I would dream that I was having dinner with my family and as we put the plates away, my sister drops a plate. A few days later the very exact scene played and I could predict what would happen. Probably more a sense of déjà vue than anything. I got to a certain age when I would recognise a scene and be waiting for something to happen and it never does, so I sometimes wonder if it’s something you lose as you grow up?

I love these threads.

One of my favourites from the past was a woman who said she saw the same person in a van pass by 5 minutes after the last time or something like that. There was a reason she knew they hadn't gone the other way. I hope she worked out the answer!

MintyGreenDream · 12/01/2022 22:12

We went to the coast most weekends this summer for day trips, around 1.5 hrs away.On the way home no matter what time we decided to leave each time we saw the same motorbike waiting to pull out of a specific layby that we passed.

FFSBringbackLangCleg · 12/01/2022 22:12

I’ve had ‘premonitions’, but they don’t always hit the mark…

On the last day of the summer holidays, I was wishing and wishing I didn’t have to go back to school next day. The idea of my school burning down came into my mind. I had no murderous intent. Just wanted the buildings destroyed so that I could stay at home.

The next morning we heard that overnight my little sister’s school had burned down. Which was of absolutely no use to me.

At university with a (very short-lived) boyfriend, I got the idea his mother would die. We weren’t talking about her, I didn’t know her, or anything about his family - we’d only just got together. The next day I was walking into his accommodation block when the public phone outside the ground floor entrance rang, so I answered it. This was in the seventies. Nobody had their own phone. The system was that if somebody from the outside world wanted to talk to a student, they rang the phone for their block until a random passerby picked it up and went in search of them.

The phone call was for him. To say his grandmother had died.

MadisonAvenue · 12/01/2022 22:12

When my son was young he was obsessed with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, I found out that the car was being displayed locally so took him along to see it and he was able to sit in it and have his photo taken.
I’d totally forgot about it and a couple of years ago I was walking my dog in the woods when I suddenly thought about it. No idea what triggered the memory but I decided that I’d look for the photo when I got home.
I promptly forgot to do that and just got on with my day.
A few hours later my son texted me, he was away visiting his girlfriend at university 300 miles away, and he asked me if I could text him the photo of him sitting in Chitty. He’d randomly thought about it, had been telling his girlfriend and wanted to show her the photo.

WestendVBroadway · 12/01/2022 22:13

@TheFoundation I'd assume that you'd had an early morning dream triggered by hearing the back door clicking in the wind, having been left open over night, or by the sound of an interrupted intruder leaving through it? That is a possible explanation, but as the door was open I doubt I could have heard it 'click' and my bedroom was was at the other side of the house.

@Tavimama
Sounds like magic mushrooms on the menu!
Although Kate Winslet has a house near Chichester..it's quite big and near the campsites....

Youdoyoutoday · 12/01/2022 22:15

My phone went missing. Granted I'd been out on the beer but I got home, texted a friend I was home, googled some crap, put phone on bedside table, woke up in the morning and it was gone. Bedroom door locked, front door locked, back door locked!
Reported it to phone company as lost/stolen and then had 2 police officers turn up checking my room, moving my bed, beside table etc to look for my missing phone, it was gone. I didn't call the police the phone company did!!
Very strange experience because even to this day, I remember texting my friend good night, putting it down and snuggling up!! Where the hell did it go?

NannyOggsWhiskyStash · 12/01/2022 22:18

@NicLondon1

I was at a party and chatting to a gorgeous charming man... I then turned to somebody (tipsy), and said "I think I've just met the man I am going to marry!" Of course I never heard from the charmer again - but I did end up marrying the guy I'd said that to!
I like your story, that's cute.
MadisonAvenue · 12/01/2022 22:26

My husband’s nephew was getting married and wanted to wear his grandfather’s watch on the day so asked my husband if he could get it to him. He said he couldn’t because he didn’t have it, I knew he didn’t have it either. The only family belongings he has are kept safely.
A few days later he was working on his bike in the garage. He keeps the garage very tidy, we use it instead of the loft and all boxes are on shelves. On this day though there was a random taped up box in the middle of the floor, and he got fed up of stepping around it and before putting it away he opened it up to see what was inside because he didn’t remember seeing it before. Inside was his fathers watch and a few other items. His family all live three hours away so it wasn’t as if one of them had dropped it off and neither of us have any memory of him being given it, and if he had then it would’ve been well looked after in the house and not in a taped up box in the garage.

CorneliusVetch · 12/01/2022 22:26

I have had a few premonitions over my life, not loads but they’ve been very strong and memorable:

  • I was walking back home from the bus stop while a schoolgirl, and as our house came into view, I just thought “oh God please don’t let it be my brother” (who had gone travelling) because I suddenly knew someone had died. When I got inside my mum was crying as my aunt had passed away.
  • a very good friend and I were due a month apart with our first baby and we texted each other a lot about our pregnancies. One afternoon I heard my phone buzz, and when I saw a notification for a text from her, I went ice cold because without reading it I knew she was texting with bad news. She was messaging to say her little one was stillborn.
  • randomly, one morning I woke up just knowing a Hollywood actor had died. I checked the news on my laptop (didn’t have a smartphone then) and saw the very sad news about Heath Ledger.
CorneliusVetch · 12/01/2022 22:28

@MangoBiscuit

I had a very vivid nightmare after watching Saw 2, really horrible. Towards the end of it, I was trying to escape, and I climbed up out of a manhole in the road, a few roads down from my house, only to be hit by a car. My last second was seeing this car come flying towards my face. It was so vivid and clear, I could remember the registration plate when I woke.

A few days later, I was walking home, got to the same spot I'd been hit in my dream. Was just starting to the cross the road when I realised that the car parked to my right was the same damn car, same exact reg, I froze for a second or two, in shock, which was when a completely different car jumped the lights from the other side and came flying past. If I hadn't have stopped, it would have hit me.

This one is so creepy!

Well, I doubt anyone will believe me! But... I’m sitting in my living room, opened this thread, thinking I wish I had something I’d experienced to contribute, when some water fell onto my feet. There’s no water anywhere and nothing above.

The timing of it as I opened the thread just adds to the weirdness.

L0stinCyberspace · 12/01/2022 22:32

I was working in a rural part of the country for a summer job with 4 others and we were also to share a nearby old house for the duration.

I'd never met the others before or been in that part of the country. First day we got into the house we had coffee and biscuits then chatted. I went upstairs to check out the rooms, as did the others, and I chose a more modern room. A few weeks later I asked one of my colleagues for something and she sent me up to her bedroom, saying it was on her bedside locker. When I opened the door I was quite surprised to see the room had been done up from its previously old decor, so I asked her "when did the owners do up your room"? She was equally surprised and insisted it was exactly the same as it had always been.

Except I'd seen an old room with yellowish wallpaper, bare boards, an dark wooden cupboard and old bed. The "new" room had modern carpet, no cupboard and white walls.

Concestor · 12/01/2022 22:33

A couple more I forgot to put in my post:

I bought a lovely set of six cake forks from an antique shop. They live in our cutlery canteen and are hand washed as they are old. I've day one vanished. Literally. There were six in the canteen and then the next time we took them out there were only five. We've no idea where it went.

On Saturday I was in the pub with a friend. At one point a gorgeous young woman in a very distinctive and unique outfit walked past me left to right towards the bar. Two minutes later she walked past again. Left to right. Towards the bar. And a few minutes later she went back right to left carrying drinks. I was so shocked I mentioned it to my friend who didn't believe me, but it wasn't busy and I definitely saw her walk the same direction twice, as though she'd been teleported back and had to walk it again. Really weird.

pangolina · 12/01/2022 22:34

I have a lot!
I was born in another country and moved to the UK at the age of 7.
When we had not long moved to the UK, my family and I went to a chinese restaurant. I started telling them how much it reminded me of the one we used to go to in our old country and they asked me which one I meant. I described it in detail as I'd gone often as a small child and remembered everything down to what my dad liked from the menu, the colours of the fish in the fishtank, the pictures on the wall and the tassels on the menus. Even the name of a friend we had bumped into there. They stared at me and said my description was completely correct but it was impossible that I could remember going there as they had taken me once as a 9 month old baby and I had slept the whole time. It had closed down shortly after.

lollipoprainbow · 12/01/2022 22:35

Things are always going missing in my flat, there one minute totally gone the next and never found again, bizarre !!

GalacticGoddess · 12/01/2022 22:38

So, when I was about 17 I was walking through town with my mum. Turned my head and across the street saw an absolutely beautiful man in all leather. Like leather coat, trousers, top etc. He had yellow eyes. We stared at each other (walking but heads turning if that makes sense) for what felt like ages, time felt really slow, and the look in his eyes was so cold and hateful, like he wanted to come over and kill me, I swear all my hairs were on edge. The moment passed and I asked my mum if she'd seen the guy staring at me and tried to turn to show her but he was gone. Really freaky and it's stayed with me for 10 years!
