My husband received something very strange in the post ...

In the post today, my husband received a letter. It was hand written with his name and address on the outside. No return info. The writing in the envelope is definitely a woman's

Inside is a copy of an "essay" I googled it and it's by Robert Louise Stevenson. It called "on Marriage"

The gist of it is that marriage has lots of ups and downs and requires communication

There is nothing else. No name, just a folded print out of this essay.

Any explanation, other than my fear? I have no reason other than this to suspect anything.

YABU - don't jump to conclusions

YANBU - he's cheated.

I'm shaking. This feels so surreal. I hope I'm overreacting. He's currently at work.

Ps. We open each other's post. We think nothing of it - usually. It's always junk or bills

Ooh did we find out if it was JWs or not? Or if OP's Dh is a filthy cheat?

Ooh did we read the OP's updates?

Thought not.

The 'See all' button on the OP is a very quick way to check up on the outcome of a long thread.

MrsGrindah · 15/01/2021 13:09

I think @NewYearNewLockdown was joking.

Or I hope it was a joke!

ApolloandDaphne · 15/01/2021 13:17

I actually wasn't sure. Nuance and tone can be hard to read sometimes. It doesn't hurt to remind people who may come late to the thread to read the OPs posts though.

MustardMitt · 15/01/2021 13:21

I wish I’d seen this post earlier as I read those very same passages at my eye test before Christmas - I could have been the saviour! Grin

Anyway OP, have you considered it might be JW? WinkGrin

NewYearNewLockdown · 15/01/2021 13:43

@ApolloandDaphne ooh did we not notice the pair of spectacles and the laughing emojis? Thought not Hmm

Grin sorry!

NewYearNewLockdown · 15/01/2021 16:13

Grin sorry!

That's ok Smile

Nearly 1000 posts now. I can't believe I keep coming back to this thread to see if anyone else has imparted their pearls of wisdom without rtft. Lockdown really has taken its toll on me.

shhsecretsquirrel · 15/01/2021 16:30

I can't believe the exchange between Apollo and NewYear ended so civilly! That was classic snarking. It is almost as surprising as JW sending out random eye tests.

I know!

I'm dying to say: "Couldn't you read all of OP''s posts? Should have gone to Specsavers!!" ROFL LOL LOL Weeping-with-laughter-emojis etc

LaMarschallin · 15/01/2021 16:48

...but obviously I have blown my chances of doing that now.

Oh well.

@shhsecretsquirrel

Ha ha, welcome to Mumsnet *@Mamanyt* the home of supportive sisterhoods
They're everywhere. I feel quite one of the group now!
Furries · 16/01/2021 03:38

@Mamanyt - think you’ve joined in style! Well done for standing up for yourself - you acknowledged your mistake and then got battered, so not the best welcome, but at least it prepares you for what probably lies ahead!

Furries · 16/01/2021 03:45

SO many people keep posting about the JW angle.

So far, as far as I can tell, there has been no mention of alien invasion via the form of the written word.

OP - you need to keep a close eye on DH and FIL. Am worried that there are subliminal messages in those “eye tests” and that you are no longer interacting with those that you loved.

A friend of a friend’s cousin’s sister’s vet said this once happened in their village a while ago - but the media never picked up on it. It’s a cover up, so stay alert.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 16/01/2021 04:32

@JorisBonson

I HAD READ THE WHOLE THREAD.

POSTED TOO

I WAS JOKING 🤣

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 16/01/2021 04:42

This thread has been a joy to read! Grin

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 16/01/2021 04:43

@Wheresmykimchi

I HAD & I had posted. It was a joke! 🙄🙄

God I miss the okd days when people could keep up!

AnnabelleMarx · 16/01/2021 04:50

This was a bit exciting to read.

But surprised ppl have never noted any handwriting tells.

There’s a specific type of handwriting employed only by a stupid woman - the kind with a bubble as a dot over the i - that is instantly recognizable.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 16/01/2021 04:51

His dad, who he works closely with got one too! Think it's the same OW?? 😂😂😂😂

@OnSilverStars

That's a grim thought isn't it!! 🤮🤣🤣🤣
