My husband received something very strange in the post ...

In the post today, my husband received a letter. It was hand written with his name and address on the outside. No return info. The writing in the envelope is definitely a woman's

Inside is a copy of an "essay" I googled it and it's by Robert Louise Stevenson. It called "on Marriage"

The gist of it is that marriage has lots of ups and downs and requires communication

There is nothing else. No name, just a folded print out of this essay.

Any explanation, other than my fear? I have no reason other than this to suspect anything.

I'm shaking. This feels so surreal. I hope I'm overreacting. He's currently at work.

Ps. We open each other's post. We think nothing of it - usually. It's always junk or bills

Am a MN weirdo as I also do these things. I have even been known to offer tradesmen a cuppa, rather than just pretending they are not there!

We are on open register as there used to be some issues with credit checks on the closed one. Which made no sense really as I am sure companies can view the closed one, but since being put on the open, we have had no issues..unless some companies don't use the private one I guess..

Also we didn't get one of these as such (now I have seen it, and read more), it was random bible type stuff about the sactity of marriage, and so on which I kind of took the OP to mean. Still quite baffling though at the time.

RTFT I commented above that we used these in a job i used to have. It should have had instructions with it but maybe they were sent separately by email.

OP - To be fair to some of the other 'disbelievers' I think I'd be asking for proof of the fact that it's an eye test rather than simply believing your DH.

I'm sure many cheating DH's (not saying yours is) have trotted an excuse before, which is why they're sceptical. FWIW, I actually believe your DH but I'd be asking for a bit more proof, because if he's got nothing to hide he'll look for you.

And if the foot were on the other shoe, would your DH be believing you with no questions?

Also OP - if you were in the room a few weeks ago when said eye test were discussed with your DH surely you'd know what it might entail and there'd have been no need to post about it on MN, now, would there?!

I didn't remember the random convo he had on the phone from several weeks before about an eye test and they surely didn't say they were sending out RLS quotes with no explanation! It's a mom and pops type place that obviously isn't that organised

Omg op of course it’s an eye test! Annoyed with myself for not realising that earlier. Don’t know about the text content but when I have my eyes tested at the opticians it’s paragraphs set out exactly like that with the J2 etc. If I’d realised that yesterday, I could have put you out your misery earlier
