I think this is my favourite ever thread.

TheRealMrsJamieFraser · 07/02/2021 21:14

They are absolutely gorgeous @Sevensilverrings - their appearance and also their story.
@PeaceLoveAndCandy - how lovely to use these every day!
I bloody love Mumsnet Grin

BusterGonad · 08/02/2021 04:02

Thanks for the tip Peridito.
These are so beautiful.

NoGoodPunsLeft · 08/02/2021 08:51

@AutumnOrange

I love this thread! Has made me surprisingly tearful. Fucking love mumsnet!
Me too!

Who knew such a random thread would make me smile so much Smile

2021ComeAtMe · 08/02/2021 11:52

I feel like this should be in classics!

Has restored my faith in humanity during what is a very difficult time for us all Smile

Sevensilverrings · 08/02/2021 12:18

Just to support the theory that teaspoons should be hugged, I present the Japanese theory of Tsukumogami, a Shinto teaching that after 100 years of serving us, our household objects are given a soul, and the nature of the soul is decided by how they were treated by us. We all need a bit of whimsy right now...!

thewillowweb.com/2016/02/18/tsukumogami-japans-household-spirits/

I’ve parcelled up you package @PeaceLoveAndCandy, hopefully get in posted by Wednesday, definitely by end of week. (We live in the middle of nowhere)!

JaneJeffer · 08/02/2021 13:15

@Sevensilverrings you should post that on the thread about the malevolent wardrobe Grin
Your pottery is beautiful.

SpikeDearheart · 08/02/2021 13:16

I love this thread so much. What a wonderful soul you are, Sevensilverrings. In my alternative fantasy life I have a rambling farmhouse with space for a loom and a kiln and a workshop and the time and talent to actually make beautiful things

Nooch · 08/02/2021 13:43

They are so beautiful, what a talent @Sevensilverrings.

Which ones did you go for @PeaceLoveAndCandy? I just want to imagine them in their new home, nestling with their new teaspoon friends. What a brilliant end to a lovely story.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 08/02/2021 14:14

Thank you @Sevensilverrings. I haven't been this excited in a long time.
Everybody, I will send a picture in due course.

Oh and I love the concept of Tsukumogami. I believe in having things around my house that are useful, beautiful, and meaningful. The teaspoon rest will be the epitome of this concept!

Stopping by to make sure you keep yarn bowls on your list @Sevensilverrings

TheUnquestionedAnswer · 08/02/2021 14:29

I just use a nibbles dish, high enough around the edges to accommodate about 10 teabags and the spoon Grin

Frownette · 08/02/2021 14:58

They are gorgeous, love the colours

Andrew2020 · 08/02/2021 17:52

Wow, the navy blue one is absolutely gorgeous!! They’re all so pretty. Well done, you are so talented and kind

Redshoeblueshoe · 08/02/2021 17:58

Wow they are beautiful

DeeThree · 09/02/2021 23:05

They are stunning @Sevensilverrings, you are wonderfully talented & also very kind hearted!
Enjoy your new teaspoon rests @PeaceLoveAndCandy & thank you for starting such a wonderful thread! I agree with the Classics nomination, it's everything that is great about MN.

HebeMumsnet · 10/02/2021 12:14

Aw! We love a happy ending, especially when it involves pottery and tea. We're going to move this to Classics for posterity.

Frenchfancy · 12/02/2021 17:45

Just been reading this in classics, wondering why a teaspoon needing a stand could be in classics. Now I understand. MN at its best.

lazylinguist · 12/02/2021 18:12

Same here, Frenchfancy! What a lovely thread, and what beautiful teaspoon rests, Sevensilverrings. I'm slightly embarrassed to say that in spite of being a major tea fan, I wasn't really familiar with teaspoon rests, and so didn't realise that one of the lovely little dishes my very good but amateur potter FIL made us is in fact a teaspoon rest! Getting it out to put next to the kettle right now. Smile

Oh and yy to the yarn bowls. I have a wooden one but it's not big enough for a big ball of yarn. I'd love a pottery one.

SingToTheSky · 12/02/2021 18:32

Wow. There was I, assuming a thread about something as mundane as a teaspoon rest could only be in classics because of pithy comments. But no. It’s just LOVELINESS.

The finished products are absolutely stunning. How lovely that you are getting back behind the wheel - I can relate to how good it feels to get your craft or hobby back after having to take a break. 💖

EarringsandLipstick · 12/02/2021 18:32

What a lovely thread. @Sevensilverrings you're an absolute ✨

Enjoy @PeaceLoveAndCandy

Looking forward to seeing the photo when they arrive!

Sevensilverrings · 12/02/2021 18:41

Slight delay due to middle child developing suspicious couch. Not Covid.. phew! In post on Monday.
I love that this has brought some joy. Its really cheered me up too, so thankyou! Flowers

Pandoraslastchance · 12/02/2021 18:45

Maybe the fact that I don't have a nice fancy teaspoon rest is why my teaspoons go missing. They are clearly running away to someones house who has a pretty teaspoon rest.

Notverygrownup · 12/02/2021 18:47

Now smiling at the idea of a suspicious couch - Tsukumogami style of course - being reassured by a small child, before you can get to the post office. Smile

DragonPoop · 12/02/2021 18:49

I’ve seen them in home bargains and b&m
