It’s a parking one!

Get on fine with house next door. Kids play etc.

About a year ago, her sister started coming to visit every single day. Weekends too. Fine. None of my business.

So we both have double drives and both have two cars. DH also has a motorbike but there’s space to keep it on our drive.

I work from home so I’m out to drop the dc to school then pretty much back for the whole morning. DH is gone in his car from maybe 7am. Motorbike stays on drive until weekends really.

So next door’s sister has a big 7-seater. But she’s taken to partially blocking our drive with it so next door’s car can get in and out.

So she parks up in the morning, partially blocks my drive. And then sometimes they’ll head out in next door’s car and my drive will be blocked.

I can (with ball-achey manoeuvring) get my car on. But if anyone was to visit, or DH was to come home, they couldn’t park on the drive. And they can’t park in front of my house without then blocking other next door’s.

It gives me the fucking rage! It’s so inconsiderate! I’ve said it to next door’s and her answer has been to knock in if I ever need her to move.

DH is so laid back he’s horizontal so he doesn’t see it as a big deal. But it’s just so selfish and irritating.

I’ve come back and parked up right behind her, as in touching the bumper, so I haven’t blocked other next door’s.

WIBU to roll the motorbike out and block her car?? If I put it sideways it won’t block the drive I don’t think.

I hope I’m explaining properly. I need to try to figure out how to post a diagram!

Classics..... classics..... classics..... 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

SootBusters · 03/03/2020 17:45

Her : ok, we’re just in the middle of something so I’ll move it in a bit.

Closes door...

Okay well she's just rude and arrogant. She doesn't even bloody live there. Wait for her, follow her all the way home and park over her drive. Once she's gone back out. You can't block her car in, once she's gone out you can block her from getting on her drive, that's not even a civil matter. Get a bus into town, have lunch go shopping. Then go and collect the car, see how she likes it. Alternatively, buy some cones, put them out. If she moves them she's taking the piss. Stick a potato up her exhaust, that will inconvenience her, blame local children. Hide behind the curtains laughing as her car splutters and dies...with no lasting damage

PotterHead1985 · 03/03/2020 17:48

@sage no trouble for our good old posties. They've delivered with less before.
Also OP I think a glut of hi-viz vests must be an irish thing. I think I've about 10+ in a 2 person household!!!

CalleighDoodle · 03/03/2020 17:51

I know your husband isn't very supportive of all this very necessary action, however mine is.
He suggested moving your deck to the end of your drive if you might actually need to work at some
Point this week Grin

CalleighDoodle · 03/03/2020 17:52

Ive about 8 hi-vis vests in my house. And one for the dog...

Disfordarkchocolate · 03/03/2020 17:55

Childhood is wasted on children. I'm all for being a childish adult every now and then (most days actually).

cherish123 · 03/03/2020 17:55

I would politely ask her and her DS not to as it's awkward. If you feel uncomfortable you could make a joke about being terrible at moving in and out of driveways.

MummysLittleNotebook · 03/03/2020 18:02

I am so invested in this right now. I've read 5 pages and found myself hyperventilating Shock. I need to know what happened but there are 33 pages. I think I'm going to have to miss my Netflix and chill tonight so that I can read to the end. I won't sleep tonight if I don't know what happened!!

OhCaptain · 03/03/2020 18:05

@MummysLittleNotebook spoiler alert - I killed them all.

Not really. But there are an inordinate amount of penises in the story. And a giant Olaf...

Jeeperscreepers69 · 03/03/2020 18:17

OhCaptain · 03/03/2020 18:19

I think I would have exploded in your shoes.

Just checking, Do you have a dropped curb for two cars or are you squeezing two cars in on a single dropped kerb?

Are you on an estate or new build plot? If you check your deeds you may find some parking rules. My flat has a list of do’s and don’ts that come with it.

Sissymate2 · 03/03/2020 18:22

@OhCaptain
This thread is brilliant!🤣🤣🤣

I just had my DNA done and discovered I'm part Irish. Ha! Now I know where my cheekiness comes from and why no one around me can understand me. Thanks for introducing me to my lost tribe... I never have fit in with the Italian side of the fam!

OhCaptain · 03/03/2020 18:25

Failte, @Sissymate2! The more the merrier!

The kerb is dropped for two parking spaces - so the length of my drive, IYSWIM.

However, we took a left turn off Sensible Street a loooong time ago!

This has been a brilliant thread! Thanks everyone for brightening my day. OP you're certainly my type of lady! My hubby is soooooo relaxed we used a blood pressure monitor on him once and it barely registered! No joke! Wink

Jux · 03/03/2020 18:29

Sissymate2 · 03/03/2020 18:35

oooh, I was late to the party so just now reading about @OhCaptain taking Olaf on a Thelma and Louise. I'm sure Brad Pitt would love to be in on the fun!

HappyBumbleBee · 03/03/2020 18:39

Omg OhCaptain this thread has cheered me up no end! I'm in Connaught so if you need a driveway security guard whilst you're on the school run I am gladly volunteering my services! 😅😅😅
I'm only on page 17 so am off to read the rest, and will most likely comment again, but good for you !!!!

CharlieBear20 · 03/03/2020 18:40

This has been the best thing I've ever read on Mumsnet and it's about parking of all things! Love it.

cakewench · 03/03/2020 18:45

This thread has been the best, thank you so much OP Flowers

Sissymate2 · 03/03/2020 18:51

@OhCaptain
Wouldn't it be fab if the google satellite car with camera on top just happened to be photographing your street today and gets Garda Olaf and the sagging box fort in the photo of your house for the entire Universe to view for all of eternity!!!!

ThanosSavedMe · 03/03/2020 18:56

Best parking thread ever!

Sissymate2 · 03/03/2020 18:57
