What can I buy from Argos for £4ish to win a bet?

I have £4 worth of Argos vouchers that run out on Friday.
Dh tried to throw them in the bin this morning, saying that I wouldn’t be able to get anything worth having with them without adding a lot on.
I need to win this bet as I lost the last one and haven’t lived it down.

I thought I’d cracked it when I found a pair of slippers but you have to pay online for TU clothes and the vouchers can’t be used online.
We have a 2 year old so stocking filers are a possibility. Please hit me with your best suggestions so that I can wipe the smug look off dh’s face. Grin

So, when I got home and the security light came on I stood in the garden singing a medley of ‘simply the best’ and ‘we are the champions’ complete with accompanying dances. However when I got inside Minerva was nowhere to be seen and dh said that he didn’t know what I was on about when I asked for my raven.

He said that he would put Dd to bed while I cooked pizza for tea but came downstairs looking flustered and asked if I had put the pizzas in about 5 minutes later.
I said that the over was hearing up and dh legged it into the kitchen.

It turned out that he had arranged Minerva on a baking tray with some paxo and potatoes and left her in the (now quite hot) oven for me to find. Angry
She is a little singed but ok.

Its is game in now. I hid her in the bed last night with her beak poking between the pillows so that he would t see until he was in bed but she has disappeared since. I have a feeling that I will come across her at some point.

Sorry that was a very long way of explaining why I had hot updated all weekend. I didn’t mean to go into quite so much detail.

He cooked it?! Halloween Grin

SoupDragon · 29/10/2018 20:55

Technically, the OP cooked her

Shocksandboooos · 29/10/2018 21:08

Technically I did. The twit hadn’t thought that I would preheat the oven.

Enid did say that she enjoyed watching him jump when he arrived home and was very amused at him trying to get the cello tape off to take the raven inside.

Sorry for so many typos btw.

Brilliant 😂😂

Roast Raven and spuds!

Crownandheelshigh · 29/10/2018 21:38

@Shocksandboooos this made me laugh so hard I've woken my 1 year old up 😂

Squidgee · 29/10/2018 21:56

I was reading this out to mom.

She said next time you get it back, tape it to the underside of the loo seat lid, so when he lifts the lid to take a pee, he's confronted with the Raven. Grin

starfishmummy · 29/10/2018 22:07

Katya...I have a Quoth too. He has been with us for about a month when they first started selling him and his family.

There is some dissension in the house as to the correct pronunciation. "Quoath" or rhyming with off.

KatyaZamolodchikova · 29/10/2018 22:30

@starfishmummy I’m Yorkshire so very firmly to rhyme with off here.

He’s not in the house yet so maybe I’ll take inspiration from the OP and find a novel & exciting way to introduce him to DP....

DropZoneOne · 29/10/2018 22:49

Shocksandboooos

That's made me laugh out loud. Poor singed Raven Grin

Wish you'd had one of those ring doorbells so you could have seen his face!

£4 in vouchers well spent i think

starfishmummy · 30/10/2018 00:36

Katya I'm with you there, rhyme with off. DH says quoath and an online pronunciation thing I found agrees with him Halloween Hmm but it is American. (And I haven't told him!!)

ErrolTheDragon · 30/10/2018 01:15

Threads which make someone carry on reading too late at night and then nearly choke trying to stop laughing should either be banned or go in a Classics. It was the paxo which tipped me over the edge.

And now, of course, I want a raven too.

MrsChristianTrevelyanGrey · 30/10/2018 06:51

@Squidgee your mums idea is amazing!

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 30/10/2018 08:46

Are they sold out yet?
I fancy calling mine Nevermore

ThanosSavedMe · 30/10/2018 08:52

I love this!

Shocksandboooos · 30/10/2018 19:03

Squidgee I love your mum’s idea but I don’t want to put her down the loo so I am going to find a way of putting her above the door and putting a sign saying ‘I’m behind you’ with this picture under the toilet lid.

I just need to find her now.

I love this thread.

clydeonabike · 30/10/2018 20:38

Started reading this thread the other day and popped back on to see whether OP had won the bet...actually crying with laughter at all of you 'raven' lunatics! Thanks for the giggles! Poor Dave from Argos!

anitagreen · 30/10/2018 21:07

Nominate this for classics 😂

DuggeeHugs · 30/10/2018 22:15

I love this thread and have been lurking for a few days, trying to decide how I could smuggle a raven into our house. I read some of the thread to DH yesterday, but he just looked bemused.

However, he apparently was listening because I've just discovered a raven hiding in the bathroom! Now I've recovered from the fright it has been named Mordred Halloween Grin

Fredathetortoise · 30/10/2018 22:57

When Shocksandboooos didn't come back for a while after the great unveiling, I was busy constructing a conspiracy theory about how the bet wasn't about spending £4 of Argos vouchers, but was actually having to get 100+ MNers to all purchase a random raven without telling them why, and the PP who suggested the raven is in fact the OP's sockpuppet... I clearly have too much time on my hands Grin

CravingRaven · 31/10/2018 06:31

I’ve just read the Q & A on Argos, I think they have caught on now Halloween Smile

TheBlessedCheesemaker · 31/10/2018 07:18

Have discovered that crying with laughter on a commuter train is not a good look.
