My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

Ooh, what a satisfyingly good parking thread! Just read start to finish, brilliant!!!. OP, you are a hero. And respect to your DH too!

Jamiefraserskilt · 15/06/2018 21:05

When they turn up tomorrow stand and wait deadpan. If they ask what you are waiting for, tell them an apology for parking on and across your drive. If they refuse turn around and go back in.

wowfudge · 15/06/2018 21:06

AnathemaPulsifer · 15/06/2018 21:12

Much respect. Very classily done.

Spanglyprincess1 · 15/06/2018 21:12

Well done op! Drinks all round.
I can't believe they had the cheek.to.turn up and not apologise - what the hell is.wrong with people. Please get a sorry and if they refuse to give you one don't move your car.
A sorry and a please or thank you costs nothing, esp if as they are in the wrong. Can't believe their spouses turned up mine would go spare if he learned I'd been that cheeky and rude!

Moussemoose · 15/06/2018 21:12

Well an all round excellent thread, parking cheeky fuckery, a stand off and then a happy ending. Everybody wins - apart from the CFs who are setting their alarms for tomorrow morning.

Iceswan · 15/06/2018 21:13

THEY DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGISEAngryAngryAngry I'm on the floor with this!

Please tell them you meant 10pm they really haven't learnt their lesson

puddleduckmummy · 15/06/2018 21:14

Best resolution to a parking thread ever!!! Well done! My DH asked me why I was laughing, so I told him and he roared in approval!!

Oddcat · 15/06/2018 21:16

oh trust me, he's gettin' some tonight 😉

Make sure it's very enthusiastic- then claim you've both put your backs out and can't drive !

PuppetOnAString · 15/06/2018 21:19

Amazing

wombatron · 15/06/2018 21:19

@mnhq ... I know snapped and farted went today... but can we have a double bubble and move this one? It truely is the parking thread to end all parking threads.

Like penguin bollards we will reference this in future!

Andrewofgg · 15/06/2018 21:19

Best parking thread EVER.

Dobby1sAFreeElf · 15/06/2018 21:20

I told my DH about this thread and he asked me what I would do if he told me he'd got blocked on someone else's drive. I said I'd say good on them, serves you right. He said he'd do exactly the same and the word you'll need is sorry when you go round there Grin

BoneyBackJefferson · 15/06/2018 21:20

I second (third) the notion of moving your car and getting a neighbour to park their car there.
