My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

This is THE best parking thread ever. Please do not move your car until Monday so that they have to spend all weekend without their car!

SoupDragon · 15/06/2018 18:45

Do you have a lot of post it notes?

OP you need bollards, obviously this will only stop one CF, have they come back yet?

Flisspaps · 15/06/2018 18:46

It's a real shame you can't remember what you've done with the car keys now 😂

SharronNeedles · 15/06/2018 18:47

Well, in about 45 minutes I will be opening the wine so they have 45 mins to get here, get our attention (bath night for DS and that is a noisy affair) if they expect me to move my car tonight.

I'd confront them when they come back but then probably move after I'd had enough of a go that they'd be unlikely to do it again.

SharronNeedles · 15/06/2018 18:48

soup that is pure evil. I have hundreds of post-it notes so this is legit an option!!

Spoil sport. Don’t listen to your dh. He needs to understand this is your first ever parking thread and threads are far too serious to actually move the car. Shock

Ginosaji · 15/06/2018 18:48

Why wait op??? Its the weekend 😁

ToadOfSadness · 15/06/2018 18:49

Invoice on the one in the drive. Drawing pins under one wheel, more would look deliberate. Council for the other one. I would not move.

Candlelight123 · 15/06/2018 18:49

Totally not place marking.

SoupDragon · 15/06/2018 18:50

I have hundreds of post-it notes

Do it! Do it!

ConstantlyCold · 15/06/2018 18:54

Don’t move the car. My dh would tell me to move too - total spoil sport

LaGattaNera · 15/06/2018 18:54

OP when they do knock, make sure you snap and fart to convey your feelings Grin

devoncreamtea · 15/06/2018 18:54

You and your neighbour/s should line the street and give them the slow hand clap as they leave 😇

ByAllMeansMoveAtAGlacialPace · 15/06/2018 18:55

Bill the fuckers when they turn up. You can get a 8 quid a day near me on my parkonmydrive.com

I just cannot believe the bloody cheek of some people. Why I’m earth would you think that parking on someone else’s drive was OK?!

SneakyGremlins · 15/06/2018 18:56

Don't move! Sad

Trialsmum · 15/06/2018 18:57

Surely there’s nowhere so important that you (or your neighbour) need to go this weekend...

EggysMom · 15/06/2018 18:59

If they come and knock on the door - and presumably then apologise - you can move your car.

If they don't turn up tonight, under cover of darkness, move your car back so they can get out. But ALSO ensure you put notes on both cars explaining that the drive is private property, and that blocking the drive (empty or otherwise) is unfriendly; you politely suggest they find somewhere else to park in future.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 15/06/2018 19:00

Yes!! Oh yes, please do this! Grin

Lightsong · 15/06/2018 19:00

I love you OP

And I love your neighbour too

Screaminginsideme · 15/06/2018 19:01

The car blocking the drive is illegally parked- report it to the council. Why is there never a traffic warden about when you need one?

I wouldn’t move either.
