My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

Isn't this the weekend you're having gates fitted, OP? Be a pity if the drive-user could only look longingly at their car, imprisoned behind padlocked sturdy gates with no access.

Even if it wasn't your car blocking them in, the fact that they are still blocking your driveway would mean they should knock your door and apologize.

I'd only want to move now if I had an acknowledgement that they were wrong!

Get their cars towed and then park your car in the middle of the driveway with their note on display on the windscreen so they can see it was you all along.

Swap yours and your neighbours car round but continue to deny all knowledge. Just to fuck with them.

I think this is one of the top 2 parking threads ever. Don't move until they knock on your door and apologise. I do like your idea of messing with their heads by moving the car slightly so they can get out and pretending it's been like it all the time.

Does your DH drive? Why hasn't he blocked you in on the other side yet? And for that matter, call some friends, get a few more in there while you can.

I would leave a note asking them to knock on your door if they would like it removed and then disconnect the door bell.

They really need to apologize before getting their cars back.

I would definitely not move my car if I could help it. Think of all the fuel you'll save inconsiderate/dangerous/CF parking is my top irritation. This is fabulous, well done OP!

The car blocking the drive is illegally parked- report it to the council. Why is there never a traffic warden about when you need one?

No it isn't. Traffic wardens can't do a stuff about driveways.
