My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

If I were you I'd turn the car to face the other way but still block them in and leave it for the weekend

Or swap your car and the neighbour’s!

siwel123 · 15/06/2018 17:34

Ooh please do get it towed if legal

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 15/06/2018 17:34

Eeee. Fab thread, that'll learn 'em cheeky fuckers!

Bluelonerose · 15/06/2018 17:34

I love your neighbour she's amazing.

Are there really people out there who think it's perfectly acceptable to park on other people's driveways? Shock

Who are these people? And why is nobody calling them out on it?

Op you need to go into the school and make a complaint what if youde let your child run up the drive while she had been reversing? Shock
Can the council not put double yellows there?

beargrass · 15/06/2018 17:34

MN should give out badges to mumsnetters who've made a special contribution to the nation's struggle with CFs in all things parking. And make Sharron the first recipient

RandomMess · 15/06/2018 17:35

Brass neck of done people, the mind boggles!

DesignStatement · 15/06/2018 17:36

I'd have 'oops, sorry, I've lost my car keys' by now.

Eliza9917 · 15/06/2018 17:36

Put your drive on rent-my-driveway or whatever it's called so they can't use it or get a bollard.

Print copies of this thread and leave them on their windscreens.

PoPpErS1 · 15/06/2018 17:39

I have a large driveway, and lots of people park in by driveway. Some people for the whole day! I would NEVER park in someone's driveway. It's private property.

chocolateworshipper · 15/06/2018 17:39

Best parking thread ever

TheMonkeyMummy · 15/06/2018 17:40

This has literally made my day. Brilliant.

Shumpalumpa · 15/06/2018 17:41

Pic or it never happened!

Ginosaji · 15/06/2018 17:41

Fab idea @SoupDragon !! Please please please do this @SharronNeedles, will really mess with their heads when they come back 😂

ChevalierTialys · 15/06/2018 17:41

Let us know if they come back!

Lweji · 15/06/2018 17:41

Reckon if I get all the neighbours together we can lift the cars??

It's very easy. Get one of those rolling platforms for fridges and stuff.
Lift one wheel and place wheeled platform under it. Repeat for all four wheels.
Move vehicle sideways.
Push to new location.

Remove platform one at a time.

fairgame84 · 15/06/2018 17:42

Just parking here to mark my spot.

Lweji · 15/06/2018 17:42

Sorry, you need four platforms.

FatBarry · 15/06/2018 17:44

True will be back tonight, they will drive past when it's dark and see your lights on and know next door were lying. 😀😀😀

siwel123 · 15/06/2018 17:44

Ooh I like the moving car idea Grin

StaplesCorner · 15/06/2018 17:45

you need four platforms - do you need flares as well?

itsbritneybiatch · 15/06/2018 17:46

Parking on someone's actual drive though! CF'S

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 15/06/2018 17:47

If you had loads of burly men, and some wheeled dollies as mentioned above, what fun to move your car and the NDN's, then lift and rotate CF car, repark it, then replace your cars. Maybe swapped with NDN

Dottypolka · 15/06/2018 17:48

I heard on the radio the other day that someone parked on a lady's driveway and there's nothing ahead can do about it. The police didn't want to know. Cheeky monkeys.

SneakyGremlins · 15/06/2018 17:50

OP? You alive? Have they held you hostage for your car keys? Shock
