My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

Definitely have them towed!

marshmy · 15/06/2018 16:54

really can't believe how cheeky this is!!!! i'd get the cars towed 100%

ItsNachoCheese · 15/06/2018 16:54

You and your neighbour are amazing Grin

ColourfulOrangex · 15/06/2018 16:55

Ohh this is the best parking thread in a while! Grin

I would get their cars towed OP might teach them not to park on your driveway in future

Eliza9917 · 15/06/2018 16:55

I was going to go to the gym, but this is faaaaarrr more interesting!!!!

TrippingTheVelvet · 15/06/2018 16:55

Oh this thread has made my Friday!

Spanglyprincess1 · 15/06/2018 16:55

I think I'm still in shock that people park over other roles drives - not okay!
Why can't people just walk further with the kids. They have legs. That's what we do with ours!

KitKat1985 · 15/06/2018 16:56

Yes there was Malbecfan. It was a glorious parking thread, where the CFs had even posted on their business website that their customers could park on the poster's driveway, having never even having asked! It was nearly as good as the Miss Jolly parking thread. [Sighs happily at memory].

SneakyGremlins · 15/06/2018 16:56

I know you can't but imagine if you swapped their cars round so the other one is on the drive Grin

keyboardkate · 15/06/2018 16:56

I cannot believe that people would be so rude as to park in a stranger's driveway, honestly they must have necks like a jockey's blx!

I have an open driveway that can accommodate three cars. It is often empty, but touch wood, have NEVER had any stranger park there, it is just unheard of around here. As is blocking a dropped kerb.

Must be unusual around here. And there is a primary school at the top of the road too.

"So my neighbour is the BEST!
she is actually home (rare!) and came out after getting her note. She's told them the pinkcar is mine but that I just wizzed home to drop my car off before going on holiday for a couple of weeks. And as much as she would love to help them out, the car outside her house isn't actually her's and she doesn't drive. She dropped me sneaky wink after."

This actually made me laugh out loud.

ItsNachoCheese

"You and your neighbour are amazing grin"

Agree!

SharronNeedles · 15/06/2018 16:57

sneaky that's exactly what I want to do! Reckon if I get all the neighbours together we can lift the cars??

Your neighbour is amazing! Is she on here? :o

mommybear1 · 15/06/2018 16:58

Oh OP 👏🏻👏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Troels · 15/06/2018 16:58

Is it even possible/legal to get a car towed off your land? Who would you call for this?
Hi to Sharron's neighbour Star I'm convinced she's a mumsnetter

BeakyPlinder · 15/06/2018 16:58

I need to know what happened next...!! Did they come back?!

Clutterbugsmum · 15/06/2018 16:59

Post the photo's on the school facebook page (most school have them now) and email them to the school and explain that you are fed up that you are having parents from there school not only parking on your drive with out permission and the fact that another parent then blocked them in so you have no access to your home. You don't have to admit the pink car is yours.

Spanglyprincess1 · 15/06/2018 17:00

Clutterbugsmom - brill suggestion!

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 15/06/2018 17:00

@KitKat1985 is that thread still in existence anywhere, like in Classics perhaps? I'd love to read it again, didn't it end up with the CF business owners selling up and moving?

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 15/06/2018 17:00

I live opposite a primary school. It’s a nightmare. I’ve blocked cars on my spaces in before. They just come looking all sheepish and ask me to move. Which I do. Because they at least had the decency ton apolgise and look guilty.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 15/06/2018 17:01

Fantastic thread!

Awesome neighbour!

Wonderful OP.

What a great start to the weekend (except for the CF drivers, obvs!)

SneakyGremlins · 15/06/2018 17:01

Sharron how many neighbours could you get to help? Grin

mommybear1 · 15/06/2018 17:02

Yes @SharronNeedles what @Clutterbugsmum said

FreeMantle · 15/06/2018 17:02

Brilliant!

If I was you ( after complaining to the school/Facebook page etc) I would offer the drive for rent at a very reasonable price..
and be very sure that neither of those parents could be eligible for consideration. Really annoy them to have known that if only they'd asked you wouldn't have minded in the slightest...

KitKat1985 · 15/06/2018 17:02

AintNobody - I'm not sure. It may have made it to classics as it was a brilliant thread.
