My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

Put a gate in if you can, OP. Will save you a lot of trouble. We(the 6 houses on my close) did that and the school run parents stopped parking on our drive and road. We did get a few notes saying we are 'Fucking rude and selfish in making the children walk a few metres'.

MadMags · 15/06/2018 16:46

Don't move!!!! If you move they just get away with it.

Do you need to drive tomorrow?

AveABanana · 15/06/2018 16:46

Have you spammed the school's twitter/email/FB pages with photos of the cars yet? Your local councillor and newspaper would love a bad parent parking story.

StealthNinjaMum · 15/06/2018 16:46

OMG, I'm only on page three and I'm loving this.

hope there's a diagram somewhere

Nquartz · 15/06/2018 16:46

Might be worth investing in a penguin bollard.

Agree you should drag this out as long as possible. Such cheeky fuckery!!

FatBarry · 15/06/2018 16:47

I suspect they will be back later possibly with DPs or burley friends who may see if they can move your car so they can move theirs.

They may be intimidating en masse, or rude and nasty, so I would move your car back two feet so it looks like the roadside car driver is crap at parking should she have told anyone at home that she is blocked in.

Then I would take lots of photographs of all the cars inckuding reg number plates and I would send a high level complaint to the school. I know the school have no control over the parents but most like to work with their neighbours to keep good relations.

I live on a road with a high school and a primary school and I feel your pain. The primary parents are far worse than the high school ones who are more likely to drop and run.

BuggerLumpsAnnoyed · 15/06/2018 16:47

This is fucking amazing

Nquartz · 15/06/2018 16:47

Wise words

Itscurtainsforyou · 15/06/2018 16:47

I believe that you can have a car towed from your driveway. And if a car is blocking you in your driveway it is an offence. So you would be justified in having them both removed. That would make sure they never did it again...

StaplesCorner · 15/06/2018 16:48

Does the neighbour need to go out later? I reckon the CFs will come back with additional CFs hoping to get their cars later.

Squaffle · 15/06/2018 16:48

Oh boy, definitely not placemarking in any way whatsoever Wink You rock, OP!

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 15/06/2018 16:49

So do we know who's green car is??

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 15/06/2018 16:50
Shock

At that cheeky bastard note!! Are they for fucking real?

You must never move your car. Just buy a new one OP. All those cars are now lost to the parking wars. Grin

Your neighbour is the best neighbour ever!! Grin I love her.

DonkeyPunch88 · 15/06/2018 16:50

I'd definitely be a bit tempted to let their tyres down Grin

MadisonAvenue · 15/06/2018 16:50

April The green car belongs to a cheeky fucker who has used the OP's drive as a parking space.

crazycatgal · 15/06/2018 16:50

@nervousnails People were cheeky enough to call you rude and selfish for putting gates on your own drive?

Nelly1727 · 15/06/2018 16:51

Can't wait to hear how this one ends! Well done for taking a stand!

SneakyGremlins · 15/06/2018 16:52

Grin at buying a new car

Malbecfan · 15/06/2018 16:52

Wasn't there a thread last year about the dog groomers car on the poster's driveway all day every day, and she jacked it up, took the wheels off and left it on bricks? Or maybe my memory is playing tricks...

BiddyPop · 15/06/2018 16:52

I love it (and I never catch parking threads when they're live)!

BettaSplenden · 15/06/2018 16:53

I love a good parking thread but this one is ace. Well done OP for blocking them in. Not sure legally about getting them towed but I think you can if you give notice. They won't be able to do anything to move it if you don't move so they're buggered lol

calamariqueen · 15/06/2018 16:53

OP your neighbour is blatantly a MN'er! You've definitely been outed! This is a bloody brilliant thread, I hope you have no plans to go out over the weekend Grin

DiagramFan · 15/06/2018 16:53

I would suggest building in some gates at the end of your drive tomorrow. Put a big padlock on them and when the work is finished, move your car.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 15/06/2018 16:53

Knew pink car mad bint had put the note in, just no mention of green car witch!!

SharronNeedles · 15/06/2018 16:53

To be honest, I couldn't care less if they do it when im not in so if they go back to doing it next week, it won't impact me at all.
DH will be home soon so he'll probably be annoyed that he can't get parked.
They can try and intimidate us all they want, I couldn't actually give a hoot! I've taken plenty of pictures and got their reg plates. We have a dash cam as well in the car so if they do anything it'll all be recorded
