My first parking thread!

So, I'm off work on annual leave with DS. Just been out for the day and just got home to find that it's school run time. We live near a first school so obviously the streets are lined with cars. Someone has parked on my drive and someone else is blocking them in!
Now I imagine that as no one is ever here during the day, these people have been doing this for some time (we've only lived here 3 months and the house was emtpy for a year before that). I've squeezed in beside the car blocking the drive so they won't be able to get our (remember the scene from Friends with Ross's sports car?) and therefore the car on my drive can't escape either.
AIBU to just sit here with a cuppa and watch this all play out while pretending not to be in?

OMG you're neighbour is my hero! Please can I swap her for mine? 🙏

harriethoyle · 15/06/2018 16:40

Towed!!

itsBritneyBeach · 15/06/2018 16:40

As this is how parking freds normally go, I am going to suggest putting a bit of tuna in every crevice of the car when it gets dark

SweetCityStench · 15/06/2018 16:40

You and your neighbor are awesome! Grin

Don't move your car until tomorrow, please.

MustBeThin · 15/06/2018 16:40

TemptressofWaikiki · 15/06/2018 16:41

Gosh, it would be so tempting to have them towed but not sure about the legality of that. I'd leave your car in situ for as long as you can. I'd even take public transport to make a point. The police cannot do anything because you are legally parked on a public highway. The car in front of the dropped curve however, would get a ticket. While parking in the drive itself is a civil matter, the car in front of it, is subject to actual traffic laws. All of this will be a great lesson for any parents from that school. Rinse and repeat every time.

KalindaBlack · 15/06/2018 16:41

Leave a note on their cars a long them to knock on the door when they arrive so you can move your car. Then they can apologise and you can ask them why they did it.
This way they don't just drive off without having to say sorry first.

endofthelinefinally · 15/06/2018 16:41

Go out and demand to know why the first car is on your drive.
Deny all knowledge of your own car or the red car.
They wont have any idea it is your car blocking them in.
Tell them your husband will be VERY CROSS when he comes home.

Tartyflette · 15/06/2018 16:41

Prawns are smellier than tuna. Just saying.

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname · 15/06/2018 16:41

I would bet she knows the other cars owners and has gone to get them to move so she can get hers out..
Maybe at an after school activity?

fourcorneredcircle · 15/06/2018 16:41

Pour a little milk through the door seal under cover of darkness...?! Grin

HardAsSnails · 15/06/2018 16:42

SharronNeedles · 15/06/2018 16:42

My neighbour obviously knew the car was mine so I think she just cottoned on to what I was doing.
I really want to just play mind games with them though

Your neighbour is my fucking hero OP.

tinygirlsmum · 15/06/2018 16:42

The problem is, if you're just off on annual leave, they'll go back to doing once you're back at work, surely?

endofthelinefinally · 15/06/2018 16:42

Oh.

Yes! This!

gruffaloshmuffalo · 15/06/2018 16:43

I agree, don't move your car!

ChevalierTialys · 15/06/2018 16:44

Oh I do love a good parking thread! Only trouble is, if they think you're gone for a couple of weeks how long will they leave their cars there? Confused

SweetCityStench · 15/06/2018 16:44

Aprilshouldhavebeenmyname The other car is the neighbours, she just said it wasn't to make a point to the CFs.

siwel123 · 15/06/2018 16:44

Honestly OP it is the weekend tomorrow. Cancel your plans and leave the cars blocked in.

TinyTear · 15/06/2018 16:44

For mind games I would move the car a tiny bit back and pretend it has always been like that and they are just shit drivers 😂

ohtheholidays · 15/06/2018 16:44

Get them towed,it will mean they never try that selfish shit ever again and your neighbour is bloody awesome!! Grin

TemptressofWaikiki · 15/06/2018 16:44

OP can leave through the front door, she is the house sitter Grin

hartof · 15/06/2018 16:45

Don't move the car! Drag this out as long as you can, will teach them a lesson.
