I don't know if this is the right thing to do, and I'm so sorry if not.

catthiefkeith passed away today.

I know there are mumsnetters who know her know how amazing she is, and I just wanted to raise a glass to her memory on here, where she brought a smile to so many faces with her stories of her mad life.

Rest in peace lovely lady.

Very, very sorry to hear this news.

Thinking of her husband and dd; can't imagine what they're going through.

AlwaysLookOnBrightsideOfLife · 21/08/2017 22:55

Such terrible news. I always loved reading her posts and her stories always made me laugh.

Thoughts are with her friends and family at this sad time. Flowers

CTK was one of the first posters I started to notice when I started using mumsnet 5 years ago. She was so obviously well liked. How terribly sad. My thoughts go out to her family and friends

dontbesillyhenry · 21/08/2017 23:21

Horrible tragic news. Rest easy CTK X

LondonNicki · 21/08/2017 23:58

Very sad to hear about CYk but I was just thinking that it may be damaging if any donation page references her username. Only because when I searched under her name on this site a threat came up where she was upset that her husband hadn't planned something for her birthday. I'd worry if he saw that he might be devastated. Can we please keep her posting private? She never expected them to be shared with her family so we should honour that. Thank you x

SweetBabyJebus · 22/08/2017 08:28

LondonNicki I understand your concern.

However, her husband is very aware that she used Mumsnet and I'm pretty sure he knew her username.

That said, it doesn't necessarily have to be linked back to her and her family. The second Just Giving page was set up for MNers to commemorate her and raise money for her family's chosen charity. This was only ever about us remembering her in a positive way. A way for MNers to let her 'know' what we thought of her without outing her to every tom, dick and harry with a public link to her family's Just Giving page.

It can remain a purely MN thing if needed. The important thing is money raised for vital research, education and treatment for Meningitis.

Her dh knew / knows already

Poor dh and dc. My thoughts are with you

RIP catthief

You will be missed Flowers

MrsHathaway · 22/08/2017 09:53

Sadly reading this as I catch up on MN after time away. Another expecting CTK had been bereaved and wanted a handhold; another unprepared for the truth.

I think a meningitis awareness campaign would be an excellent idea and a fitting tribute. I'll also look out for the WH post when (if) it comes.

Thinking of the family. How absolutely devastating.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/08/2017 10:22

I am just wondering that the justgiving link might get lost on this thread and people won't see it. Is there a separate topic for charity links where it could be a stand alone thread do you think?

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 22/08/2017 10:42

I was thinking that too - I only saw it because I clicked back on the thread to read more tributes.
A separate thread with the justgiving link would be more visible I think.

SandyMumsnet · 22/08/2017 11:01

Morning everyone,

Thanks for all the suggestions of ways to honour the lovely Catthiefkeith.

We plan to dedicate our TRU this week to her memory and feature some of her most loved threads from over the years. We're always mindful to respect an individual's privacy but if anyone has any threads they think we should include, please report them to us. Many thanks.

We send our heartfelt good wishes to her family at this terribly sad time. Flowers

dementedma · 22/08/2017 11:05

has to be the locked on the balcony with the scabby cat thread!

SweetBabyJebus · 22/08/2017 11:07

Great idea Through I've just discovered there is a charities noticeboard. I will start a thread in there and link it back here.

TempusEejit · 22/08/2017 11:20

Just seen this - what horribly sad news. She will be much missed.

HouseworkIsASin10 · 22/08/2017 11:27

StarlightExpress5 · 22/08/2017 12:10

I'm so shocked and saddened to read this Sad
Condolences to all her family and friends, how absolutely devastating for them Flowers

ParanoidBeryl · 22/08/2017 12:30

Just adding my condolences. Catthiefkeith was such a funny poster - I remember the weird candle lighting neighbour, and how when CTK locked herself out of the house she hid in the kids playhouse and the neighbour found her, that her Dad owned a bar when she was little and they had a pet goat. She seemed to have such a joyous and unconventional life.

My thoughts are with her family.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 22/08/2017 12:33

What awful awful news. She really was a terrific poster and by all looks a lovely person in real life.

RIP CTK. You will be sorely missed.

SoupDragon · 22/08/2017 12:56

This thread has reminded me to make my DS1 have the MEN ACWY vaccination before he heads off to university in October.

Bloomed · 22/08/2017 13:06

Could MN perhaps do a campaign reminding to vaccinate for meningitis in CTK's memory?
