OhShutUpThomas · 21/02/2016 21:07

And any other Harry Potter mysteries!

Can anyone answer mine?
Is Voldemort a virgin?
What happened to Rodolphus Lestrange?
Why do some spells take weeks and hours of homework to learn, yet Harry can imperious people by just saying it?

Anyone else? I've got more, can't think just now. Just finished re-reading!

That would be nice, wouldn't it?

00100001 · 25/02/2016 10:03

I always wonder where they go food shopping.

And why the Weasley's didn't magic their house bigger or buy brand new books each year when clearly the books are the same and can be passed down (with the exception of Lockhart)

Cerseirys · 25/02/2016 10:17

Accio food? Basically, if you're a wizard you need never do anything ever again, right? You can just sit on your arse all day and magic up whatever you need. And you won't get fat from said sitting on arse as you can probably magic the fat away.

I am just praying that they get around to making a long lingering televised serial of the whole thing - without missing any of it out.

Eight or nine hour long episodes for each book should just about do it. although the epilogue could be cut as it was rubbish

Harry's naming choices are a bit Hmm

But I've always thought the Weasleys are odd for giving old fashioned muggle names to their sons (Arthur's fascination with all things muggle no doubt) when most pure blood families go for delightfully colourful games like Mundungus and Narcissa, etc.

Quite like Albus Severus as a name.

And have read so much filthy Snape fanfiction over the years that there's no way I can imagine him a virgin any more Blush. Voldy I dunno.

D'you know, I've never ever known that Lily's middle name was Luna! That's so random, they weren't that close to her, and it's not like she died tragically. Kick in the teeth to Hermione in the every-single-name-must-honour-an-ally game if you ask me.

Mermaid I don't think so - Harry already has enduring, lifelong links to Hermione: they are in-laws, and their children are related, as well as them being close friends (and war comrades) from childhood. Hermione is already in Harry and Ginny's inner circle, as it were, whereas Luna is a close war comrade who doesn't have any formal connection. If the names are to create links to and honour people who are either dead, or with whom they don't have a formal family relationship, then Luna as a middle name makes sense.

(In the same way, I chose godparents for my DS outside my family because I wanted to create a formal link with those people, whereas eg with my sister that was unnecessary because that link and closeness was already there.)

ArcheryAnnie · 25/02/2016 11:40

And Salty, me too.

(We should all NC and have a rec list.)

Schenker123 · 25/02/2016 12:14

instead of shagging me as he ought

''AIBU to not send Aristophanes to Hogwarts? I hear the Muggle intake is higher than ever this year."

I'm in absolute fits at these! Bloody hell, best thread of 2016 so far :D

I still don't get the whole James and Lily love thing.

The only think I can equate it to is Hermione and Draco, at what point is it believable that Hermione would stop hating Draco and fall in love with him in the Sixth Form. Confused

How do they get cash out? There are no atms, so do thy have to go to London every time they need cash?

Also on the hungry camping trip, why didn't hermione spend the savings she got out in supermarkets? They had the potion.

Schenker123 · 25/02/2016 13:00

WonderingAspie McGonagall said that! In the film.

Schenker123 · 25/02/2016 13:05

Whenever I read the first book, I always really dislike the idea of the elf people taking my things to my room and unpacking them for me, especially as none of them were reprsented as women and I would be a young, pre teen girl who might have sanitary products and razors in with my luggage Confused

Wonder if they ever found any last year student's contraceptives or sex toys...

EveOnline2016 · 25/02/2016 13:20

Why doesn't any one turn the room of requirement into something fun and exciting.

What no underage nightclubs.
No shopping malls.
No cinema
No gaming rooms
No coffee shops
No pubs

What I don't get is why Harry doesn't hide up there as have a bedroom in the holidays

BoyFromTheBigBadCity · 25/02/2016 13:28
