Is Voldemort a virgin?

OhShutUpThomas · 21/02/2016 21:07

And any other Harry Potter mysteries!

Can anyone answer mine?
Is Voldemort a virgin?
What happened to Rodolphus Lestrange?
Why do some spells take weeks and hours of homework to learn, yet Harry can imperious people by just saying it?

Anyone else? I've got more, can't think just now. Just finished re-reading!

Totally agree with you OP about the shite Harry and Voldemort film ending. It ruined the tension and drama that had been built up in the book. And the bit where Harry throws his arms around V like he's going to snog him, just shit.

It annoyed me that no one was there to see it in the film version or to hear Harry's revelations to V.
I thought it was quite important in the book that everyone heard the truth and saw the end of Voldemort for themselves, and that V actually kind of killed himself - his own spell rebounded on him. Harry only cast a disarming spell.

In the film V just disappears so how would anyone know that Harry was telling the truth that he was dead?!

BatmanLovesPeaceAndQuiet · 24/02/2016 20:06

Yes - end of film version Harry vs Voldy was dreadful, utter horseshit Sad

It reminded me forcefully of the stupid pan-Hogwarts dragon chase in the first task of the Triwizard Championship.

I preferred the Malfoys sitting uncertainly in the Great Hall after the battle too, instead of sloping off. It felt like the beginning of a new society.

Pottermore wikia is an easier to navigate library of Pottermore info.

I'm pretty sure Voldemort's new body is smooth, like an Action Man Grin

I think JK might be a Mumsnetter. She seems the type!

(I mean this in a good way!)

LottieDoubtie · 24/02/2016 20:35

Grin I like to think she is a MNetter too. [waves]

WonderingAspie · 24/02/2016 21:02

Can you imagine how she would get bombarded if she outed herself as MNetter. Grin

I too hated the weird bit with Harry and Voldy, flying through the air at the end. It would have been much better to do it as it was in the book. No reason why they couldn't. I also hated that Voldemort was punching and kicking Harry when they were dignting/duelling. Ridiculously unrealistic and unnecessary. They have wands, they don't need to resort to physically fighting and that wouldn't have been Voldemort style at all.

Alisvolatpropiis · 24/02/2016 21:15

Wait - Gambon's accent was meant to be Irish? I have never heard that as an Irish accent! Cornish more like.

He was a terrible Dumbledore. Though I think Christopher Lee would have been a bette replacement after Harris died, than either Gambon or the oft suggested McKellen.

VoldysGoneMouldy · 24/02/2016 21:26

I'm now worried she is a MN and I've insulted her at some point Shock

With regard to the films, I completely understand that some things translate better to screen, but I so wanted the end scene with Harry and Voldemort to be exactly the same. I shouted at the screen when it wasn't... still angry

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 24/02/2016 22:01

Yes - I thought the point was that although he had all this power, he was just dead like everybody else.

Outaboutnowt · 24/02/2016 22:06

Yy Christopher lee would have made a brilliant Dumbledore!
Harris was perfect IMO.

We went to the cinema to see the last film and at the end the whole audience gave a standing ovation (to the film)! Me and DP weren't expecting this so clapped along awkwardly, and when we came out of the cinema there were several people crying and hugging each other. It was pretty bizarre - did this happen anywhere else?!

The films were ok but not amazing, not enough to stir that kind of emotion in me. I did cry when I finished the last book though Blush

VoldysGoneMouldy · 24/02/2016 22:14

I cry at at least one point in most of the books Grin

DH has just pointed out that Harry was rather selfish with the naming of his children - opinions?

GloopyGhoul · 24/02/2016 23:17

I have stayed up far past my bedtime reading this thread!

I have soooo many questions. Harry was a tit for naming his second son Albus Severus. Especially when he explicitly describes Hagrid as the bravest man he's ever known at least once. Dumbledore wasn't brave at all!

And the various questions about Hagrid's mum & dad keep bringing to mind the image of his wee dad flinging a hot dog down a corridor...

GloopyGhoul · 24/02/2016 23:18

And and and. Harry & Ginny would have had a miserable marriage; he only went through with it 'cause he was desperate to be a part of their big, loving, crazy, protective family. And out of guilt over Fred.

Alisvolatpropiis · 24/02/2016 23:20

Same Out, Harris was The Dumbledore for me too.

Voldy, you mean lumbering just the one child with the odd names? I thought that was a dick move too!

Cerseirys · 25/02/2016 07:09

Gloopy, I thought the bravest man bit referred to Severus, not Albus.

OhShutUpThomas · 25/02/2016 07:25

But Harry really loved Ginny, he didn't go through with it just because of Fred.

I do think it was weird giving his children his parent's names though. Middle names maybe, but not just trying to repeat history with all of them!

OP posts:
OhShutUpThomas · 25/02/2016 07:26

Did JK Rowling ever write about what happened to the Dursleys?

00100001 · 25/02/2016 08:46

I thought it was a bit selfish to call first male born James Sirius. James, sure, but what about a Weasley or Albus name for middle?
Then if another came along the could use Sirius/Severus/Albums/Weasley

Elledouble · 25/02/2016 08:47

I thought it was sad in Deathly Hallows pt. 1 that they left out the bit with Dudley shaking Harry's hand and saying goodbye. They filmed it but it didn't make the final cut. I'd like to think that Harry would have reconciled with the Dursleys a bit, he was the only family Aunt Petunia had left after all.

Alfieisnoisy · 25/02/2016 08:49

I think JK wrote that Dudley used to visit Harry as an adult but they had no real conversation. They used to set up so their children would know each other.

I don't know about the older Dursleys. I'd like to have known much more about Petunia....why she took Harry in even though it was done reluctantly and furiously.

00100001 · 25/02/2016 08:55

Harry: I think we should AME him after my dad and god-dad, the're both dead
Ginny: How about James Fred? My brother, you know. He died too.
Harry: James Sirius it is. We can use your names next time
Ginny: okaaaaay
Harry: Ah! Son number 2. Albus Severus! Aftrrall they were pretty awesome weren't they. You know, that guy who was total dick to me all my school life? Yeah, let's name him after him!
Ginny: Oh I thought we are going to use a name I liked. I'm happy for Albus as middle, but not Severus, he was a tool, how about we use My dad's name? Or ask George about using Fred this time as a a middle name maybe?
Harry: Albus Severus it is!!! It's OK Gin, you definitely can have the next one.
Ginny: fine.
Harry: Its a girl!! Lily! After my dead mother and Luna after our really cool friend!
Ginny: oh well, I really still want a Weasley name. Could we go for Lily Molly? Or Lily Ginevra? And if we're naming after cool friends, we could have used Neville for one of the boys!
Harry: no, unlike Lily Luna better, it makes way more sense to use a friend's name than anything that means something to you Gin.

OhShutUpThomas · 25/02/2016 09:22

binary Grin

OP posts:
MrsHathaway · 25/02/2016 09:32

Brilliant and plausible conversation! Because everything that happens to Harry is the most important thing ever.

I mean, fuck sake, if they'd come on MN we'd have suggested more than one middle name each.

James Sirius Fred(erick?)
Albus Severus Arthur
Lily Ginevra Luna

I'm wondering if there's a clever spell to make one's vagina temporarily cavernous, to make labour and delivery easier.
